i think if joel had put the fills that you do in this video in the song, it would have made the actual recording a million times better :) probably one of my favourite drum covers ive seen to date!!! props to you man!!! and you are totally right. when you do a drum cover, it shouldnt be you playing what has already been played on the recording, it should be you making the song your own!!
@BradyStephenK thanks for the very kind words!! i wouldn't go as far to say all that though, i purposely over played this song to see what it would sound like to have many drum fills in it. i think that the original drummer laid down the drums perfectly, given the circumstances. keep in mind that he also sings while playing, i cannot do that in any way.....but i can play in 27/16 time signatures =D

@HardcoreWILDMAN444 the kit that i play is an fs series pacific kit. the snare is the omar hakim pearl signature 13 inch. the china and crash were paiste 5 cymbals that i no longer play. the ride is a really old zildjian a custom. and the hi hats are also paiste 5's which i no longer play. i have a whole brand new set up now though, same kit just way different set up. i want to do another cover but i don't know what song to do.
you did an amazing job man, its a drum cover, it doesnt have to be exactly like the original so i give you even more props for doing your own thing. well done. :D
@repentorperish17 the little one on my bottom left is the 6 inch zil bell, cuts through a lot (sometimes too much), i might get the 9.5 inch zil bell. the other little one above that is a paiste accent cymbal on top of a zbt 6.5 inch bell. it makes a nice little stacker til i get my mini china and splash!!! =D
@repentorperish17 oh lucky!!! i want it so bad. my next cymbal is the k custom hybrid 19" china. i'll be getting in in the next week. then i'll be set for some nice august burns red covers haha
