  • i loveeee this song!!!!

  • I wanna know why nobody has said anything anywhere about this song being similar Gaga's Marry the Night......the beginning at least is very uncanny.....

  • when I go to my girl's house I always knock like the guy at 1:11

  • this guy wears his moustache like a badge of honour

  • HANDS DOWN THE BEST TRACK HE EVER DID. BOTH THE SONG & MUSIC VIDEO WERE OFF DA HOOK!!! THOSE 5 COUPLES IN THE BACKGROUND REALLY MADE THIS VIDEO BIG, & LIONEL RICHIE DID HIS THING. AZ A KID I WATCHED THIS VIDEO PLENTY OF TIMES, & NOW IM ALMOST 25 & I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH OF WATCHIN THIS PRICELESS VIDEO CLIP!!! LIONEL RICHIE 4 LIFE!!!

  • Steve Lukather on guitar solo and David Paich on Key.

  • @stevemclove and nothing beats a Luke & Paich combo ... What a solo !

  • Listen to that base.

  • This was a very cool song back then.....and under-rated if you ask me!

  • eh so was melissa manchesters you should hear how she talks about you, it was a number one song and i never hear it on 80's radio, up untill 2008 i had not heard the song in 7 years and before that problably at least 15.

I like this song and love the jazzy sounds and the pinging techno sounds from the synth.

  • Reminds me ALOT of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" Video...Could this have been the inspiration behind Michael Jackson's White Suit themed video?

  • @KidArtistiX It could have been.....who knows....

  • Lionel PERFEITO!!!!

  • Awesome guitar solo, awesome song

  • With Jeff Porcaro on drums, you cannot go wrong.

  • @niamhorourke

I think all of Toto were on this. I know Luke did the solo. The story goes he had both solo's cut before he even knew the tape was rolling! He thought he was just warming up, producers loved it!

  • Was that the blind girl from Hello?

  • @AbsolutWatahh I don't think so

  • @TatanBrown it is

  • @AbsolutWatahh

I was thinking the same, I think it is...infact i'm willing to bet on it

  • one of the best guitar solos on a commercial track ever.

  • I love the electric guitar overtones in the song. Great memories of being 5 yrs old.

  • "You're listening to FFFFFLAAASH FM!!!"

Sorry for the real fans of this song, but I discovered it on GTA Vice City ^^

  • Groovy! Lionel is amazing! Bring the stuff from the 8o's where things were done right! Keep on jamming Lionel!!!!!

  • I like this song better than the other "Night" song RIchie put out around the same time.

  • Love the music and the DANCING ROCKS......

  • What a song .. love Steve Lukathers solo.Asked him about it on FB.As usual , he played along with the song and when he asked Lionel when they were getting started with recording ,Lionel said " well , yeah , we already recorded it"

  • Builderberg

  • OG throw back

  • Studies have shown that this video is only 5% less tuff than Beat It.

  • OMG I hadn´t heard this music before, i´t´s so nice, I´ve listening it over and over again.... love the 80´s,

    Lionel Richie good job!

  • I want to go to the 80's

  • gta vice city !

    only on PS2 version

  • these old school filmclips had mini plots - now they are just trash LOL, ah well thats changing times I guess

  • Lynn Whitefield,Sheila E, Micheal DeLorenzo from New York Undercover

  • wether this song grabbed you in the 80`s during release,or maybe on gta-vice city,or maybe at a club that plays old school track. you cant deny, lionel is a genius and this track is beyond awesome...might be the rum talking, but still awesome lol

  • awesome song :)

  • King of Pop: Michael Jackson...King of Rock N Roll: Elvis Presley...King of the 80's music: Lionel Richie

  • were did the 80s go seems like yesterday listening to these great songs god i really miss those days

  • @ste123456754 I miss the 80's to, they don't make music like they used to, today it's this rap crap or this pop bull shit, today it's about the money, and spotlight, back in the days it was about the talent it meant something, I wonder why I'm still stuck in the past, 50's through the 80s is the best era for anything

  • Michael Jackson came in a little while later to tell everyone to Beat It.

  • Incredible track and a superb solo by Steve Lukather (Toto) on guitar... one of the classiest 80s acts.

  • viva los 80¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Stalker's music video!

  • this is one of my favourite songs off GTA:Vice City. FREAKING AWESOME!

  • great song, this is my favorite Lionel Richie song he did on his own

  • How this doesn't have over a million views is beyond me.

  • i want to be one of the dancers.........such flare

  • At 1:27, Lionel totally C-Blocked that guy.

  • I had the 45 of this when i was a little kid. It might have been the first record I ever owned. Still pretty awesome!

  • Sheila Escovedo played the lonely bridesmaid. Lionel hit #7 in Billboard, 2-4-84. God bless ya, Lionel and Sheila. Thanx, Tatan, for postin' it. Have a great week!

  • @DaveWollenberg You're welcome :-) Have a great week too!

  • vice city!!!! Best game of all time.period.

  • Somebody please tell me why they don't make music like this anymore?? How can anyone like todays music better than this? What a time to be a session musician :-D

  • @TheRhythmNGroove the thing is since today's generation grew up with the radio, and since no has teach them what real talent is, they think the current artists are good.as long as you have a catchy beat, and you're well promoted, you'll do just fine. is a shame, but that's how it is nowadays, we need to teach what great music and talent is. the music from the past will always be better than current music. back then, you needed to have talent to make it.

  • @TheRhythmNGroove People are part of the problem. We (not me) just keep listening and buying the crud the music industry is pushing on us. The Record Companies don't care about true raw talent anymore. They like the profits these mediocre acts that run the airwaves now. Don't get me wrong there is a few real gems that don't need all the synthesize help or back tracking. It is a shame yes. Then ask today's generation about ours and there music. They will say there's is better, poor kids dont' kno

  • @bobg69 Very well said my friend.

  • @TheRhythmNGroove i'm with you man!!! I'm 18 years old though but i like this music which was playing when i wasn't even born!!!!

  • @rrblade2012 where have you been all my life...i'm 18 too and the only person that understands why i stopped writing today's kinda music is my sis and mom....but they don't count...they're old...lol....i love oldies and today's music is complete bull...i can't imagine telling my kids when i was young i had drake, rhianna, britney spears...no...not like my parents tell me about phil collins, lionel, michael, the whisperers, marvin gaye, bolton, ray charles, and so on.

  • @TheRhythmNGroove

Steve Lukather on guitar solo and David Paich on Key.

  • Mafioso version of beat it. LOVE IT!!!!

  • Beat It 2

  • shelia E.

  • Can't believe this has only got 288 thousand views

Hello this song is best :D

  • Can't believe this has only got 288 thousand views

Hello this song is bomb :D

  • Rihanna-push up on me. is it similar? : )

  • This album went DIAMOND (10mil+). Go on Lionel!

  • yes this was a Huge song then with alot of fun times & smiles hearing this.

  • One of the best he made the rhythm and the guitar is masterful it still often comes into my head after all those years.

  • Man, I miss those songs, that had cool melodies and rhythm and always a superb electric guitar solo near the end.... you know like "beat it".... "running with the night" etc....

  • Why cant we have MUSIC nowadays???

  • @Anosaan I agree. I was only a little boy when this came out, but pop music is starting to sound like trash to me. I don't know if it's the quality or if I'm just getting older.

  • @JeraldMcClane It's the QUALITY!!! believe me XD

  • @JeraldMcClane

Oh no you're not getting older, I know young ppl who think exactly like you... it's as if pop music lost its soul, its meaning. I was not born in those years but i feel like artists had more freedom to experiment and be creative. Nowadays everything is shallow and set up by record labels to fit in with the industry. And as you said, it kills the quality.

  • @Anosaan the clear channel executives who bought most of the stations up deamed that they wanted new artists and new music so they could createa new generation of money spenders. Plus, the ageism in hollywood is rampant so once some passes beyond a demographic, they are deamed useless which is a crime in my book. This music should stil be in the air and played. At my dance class we have 80's night every saturday and we play this music.

  • hhahah i love the way these people leave their flats..il just to a spin and the splits and then lock the door.

  • 2:53 Get the fuck off the street! LOL

  • Michael de Lorenzo from New York Undercover...Sheila E....Michael Peters(Michael Jackson's choreographer).....gotta love the 80's, baby...

  • Sheila E is so incredibly yummy......did anyone notice Michael de Lorenzo from New York Undercover?

  • Haha, Lionel just snatched dudes wife up and said U MAD?

  • i remember flash fm on vice city... fuckin nostalgie...

  • @evilblackrolf So how long would you cruise the streets, not getting any jobs done? haha I'd drive the cab for like 2 hours before I even knew it.

  • Steve Lukather said that it took only one take to record the solo, he was just warming up and said to Richie: let's do it and Richie said: it's done! ahaha Lukather is the best!!

  • 12 people walked with the night

  • Rihanna used a sample of this on "Push Up On Me" :D

  • You could have easily replaced Lionel with Michael Jackson in this video. And why did all these people converge on the Huxtables' neighborhood?

  • A time of innocence for me.. I lived in a fantasy bubble for about 8 years. Before the young minds where ruined by lies, political corruption, drugs, racism. I will cheerish those years.. We will never be able to get them back.

  • One of the best of 80´s. :)

  • Music videos have definitely not been the same since the 80's. They went from mini movies to I don't know what.

  • Great Song Lionel, you had alot in the 80's!!

  • vice city brought me to this great song

  • @TheRattyrattyrat

    Hi still is :)

  • forget grand theft auto...this songs way bigger than that

  • @slickinidaho yeah but tanks to this game a lot of young people were introduced to the 80's music and they love it

  • @karlvinland GTA VICE CITY brought back the 80's no doubt.

  • What a voice.

  • I think you'll find the guitarist was Steve 'Luke' Lukather

  • Nice to see a video with proper hats in it! Even the tramp's looks cool!

Big-up for all the jaunty head gear wearers out there - you know who you are!

  • Quick question for the drummers out there. Could John Robinson's underlying drum pattern in this song be described as a 16th note triplet shuffle?

  • LOVE this video!! Miss the 80's! On a side note I forgot how ugly bridesmaids dresses were!! LOL!!

  • @jlomax LOL!

  • o solo da guitarra show de bola viu

  • I hate that on most of the album recording they didn't include that part from 4:05 to 4:15. Those were ten of the most beautiful second in the 80's music!

  • Best part is @2:53 to @3:07 :)

  • awesome bridge

  • Nothing works better than snapping at a girl to get her to dance in unison with you and your friends.

  • I remember hearing just a snippet of this song "We were running with the night...." in a commercial when I was just a wee lad in the late 80's & early 90's. It wasn't until GTA Vice City came out that I finally realized the full song where that lyric came from :)

  • Steve Lukather of Toto play the guitar on this track

  • @DalitPanther83

  • @shmuli9 no

  • @shmuli9 not sure if he had, though I dont hear the stevie wonder sound in this, imo. it doesnt sound like any of his stuff.

  • @shmuli9 he didn't have anything to do with it, but I'm also a big fan of stevie wonder ..both from Motown..

  • to Robin Spence100. i would love to " run in the night with you ". i would run on the

" white sands " of the caribbean, massage your silky skin from your head to your feet.

get loss in an oasis with you.

unfortunately, our worlds have gone astray. i will get down on both knees for you.

  • It's funny. Lionel Richie looks younger now than he did 25 years ago.

  • @barnesfam barn once oyu swithc over to the vegetarin diet, it just cleans you out and cleans you up.

  • She started a very long time ago when she was a little tyke and was born into it! Her whole family is a wealth of musical talent. She lived just up the street from me while she was growing up. In fact Sheila and her family just had a concert in her old home town. Let the music play!!!......"Jagar"

  • Nice Sheila E. appearance.

This must have been where she started to get a taste of the Musical Beats with Lionel & her dad.

  • Steve Lukather KILLED the guitar chart in this !!

  • vice city

  • Sheila E is in the video as the girl lthat Lionel dances with at the end. Asnd yes those are some of the same dancers that Michael Jackson used. Michael Peters who did the choreography for "Beat It" and "Triller" is in the video.

  • Simply the best - the somg, tha artist & the video!!! Long live the 80's!!!!!!!

  • Do you recognize Shelia E in the video? She is dancing with Lionel Richie at the end.
