Way different than America's supermarkets.. I noticed it was a lot quieter too. Here, you'd have screaming children and adults talking rudely on their cell phone as loud as they could.
I've only tried sushi from the supermarket and getting it in japanese restaurants is expensive so I look forward to the sushi in Japan, I bet it's delicious
I've always thought of japan somthing different becuase of its productions. ( Anime, singers, and games...) But the more I think of it.... its kind of the same as the U.S
Oh I forgot to add if you never have check out some of TokyoCooney's video's. He's awesome and TokyoSwan and applemilk1988. They're all living in Japan too. TokyoCooney has this hilarious video dealing with racism in Japan. It's not what you think... LOL.
Oh and since you end the video going to your van what's it like driving on the opposite side? Since you've been in Japan for so long are you used to it by now? And I'm curious if it's not tmi what brought you to Japan in the first place? I'm always interested as to why people go to other country's whether here or Japan or wherever. :)
What brought me to Japan is a long story. I'm so used to driving on the "other" side that I only have a problem when I'm driving in the US. I have to pay close attention not to drive up off ramps and stuff.
I know its has nothing to do with the video but i was wondering whats it like over there? becuase im going to japan this year. tell me how much stuff cost lol
I noticed all the shopping carts had at least one or two hand baskets in them, which is quite different from the USA. Fascinated with the ambience of this video, and the way you carried the camera, as not to put people off, like not aiming the camera at any one person too long. Just wished this video was sharper and could be slowed down to see the food packaging on the shelves, oh by the way, I do stock shelves for a large grocer in the USA.
haha i love this video, im planning on going there eventually, anything i need to know about japan? i have a friend who goes about twice and year and the only thing she told me was to watch out for racist people, she said japanese people have a lot of pride and dont like foreigners coming in and taking their jobs
XD hmm maybe she goes to a bad part of japan if there are any, but thats besides the point cause even if everyone hated americans i would probably still go, i dont think i could go my whole life staying away from japan :D, oh and ill make sure to tell her that shes wrong from a perspective of someone who lives there
ah well the girl that told me is black, and even though i am white i consider myself black because of my community, not literally black but i might as well be, but anyway it seems very un racist to me from your videos, they have to be the most entertaining videos ive seen on youtube :D
Your video doesn't make me feel very dizzy... it makes me feel lost I so cant remember which way I would have to go to go back to the starting point of the 'adventure.'
Tiny people, tiny carts. :-) Actually, it's because kitches and refrigerators are smaller, and we eat a lot of fresh foods, so we tend to go food shopping every day or two. Whenever I go back to the US, I'm amazed at the size of the supermarkets, the size of the food, and most of all the size of the people shopping. Also, I'm surprised at how popular this video is. It's the worst one I've ever made. I should redo it and hold the camera more steady.
I think it's popular because it gives the rest of the world a glimpse into how life is there. That's what I find cool about it. And I have been to a Japanese Food Market once before here in America. It's almost the same, I guess.

Who would have thought a Japanese supermarket looks like any other supermarket in the rest of the world?

Those mini-carts are sooo much easier to deal with than the fullsized ones when you're shopping for one!

That's BS, I've encountered very little blatent racism here. Your friend makes Japan sound like Nazi Germany.

I've been told that people with darker skin--southeast asians and Indians--have more of a problem with racism here.
