Ahhh I will never forget this land, music or game. My father got this game for xmas 1999. I was 10 years old. I started playing and created my first ever videogame character... a wood elf ranger. I was never too good at the game since I was so young, don't think i ever made it to even level 20, but I will never forget this game. First game I ever got addicted to. I remember waking up extra early before school just so I could play some EQ. Nothing will ever compare.

Remember finally getting my Crown of Deceit for my Dark Elf wizard, and walking round Kelethin disguised as a wood elf, laughing my backside off that they were all fooled. Then I walked into the bard's guild and saw, "Soandso glares at you threateningly. What would you like your tombstone to say?"

I didn't make it three steps.

Stayed away from the bard's guild after that.

Then running like 1 hour to kaladim and ducking in the whole city just to hand them in

Later on, they added all these newbie quests, an orc would drop like 100000000 types of item, the game got really bored

I dunno if all of you know this but there are two new time-locked progression servers that came out! You get to vote for the next expansion to be released or not it's really cool. They just released Kunark. It's really nice to see a lot of people in Greater Faydark again looking for sapling barks :D

best memory of this tune was meddin at orc lift and i saw this female hi elf runnin and jumpin towards me followed by a train of orc cents. within seconds her movement rate slowed and she went from sprinting to walkin slowly as the orcs beat the fuk outta her from behind. she did the /yell and with one last tiny lil jump she collapsed. i of course had gotten up and moved behind the lift. i thought bout helpin but i didnt wanna remem spells. a minute later she sends a /tell "thanks for nothing"

My brother and friends would laugh at me when I played a Wood Elf Warrior, but I showed them all! I may have only played for a brief time, not making it passed level 20ish or 30, but when I tanked in Crushbone we (mostly) had successful camps. Crushbone was always my favourite zone. Nothing but Orcs to kill. Some slaves, too... And a mean Gnome Necromancer.

The graphics are old, but are so catching!The trees and their leaves invite you t0 a new world, i remember being awestruck when I watched my dad play in that barbarian village, killing those gnoll things :D

another thing that made this game so great is its simplicity in a sense. you didnt have to watch dps meter or something stupid. if you wanted to do more damage you got a better weapon. period. also i map or a guard didnt exactly point you to where you wanna go everytime.. god.. miss it

i caught 2 players cybering near kelethin once . i was runnin towards bb zone and i saw "so and so twirls her fingers around warblaze's nipple hair" . i was like what in the fuuuuu so i stopped and looked around and i saw them sittin facin each other and talkin in /say "warblaze lifts up and inserts his dick" . i was like ew god and left . later that day as i was runnin back to kelethin bank i saw warblazes' corpse in that same area . idk how he died but i was loling hardcore like wtf happnd?

I never really played much. Just had a subscription to eq 1+2 for years and sometimes I'd just log in and enjoy the surroundings. Same with wow, just walking not running, great fun. Killing monsters... meh

I remember the "drunken Kelethin" races, the early-game pitch dark nights, getting lost in the faydark, frantic corpse runs, and buffing low levels at the Orc Lift. This music takes me instantly back in time. I really miss those days.

I miss the adventure, I made a trek from Everfrost peaks all the way to oasis by foot. It was such an adventure this was before there was Plane of Knowledge. Such great times, I mapped it out and knew some of the mobs id be facing along the way it was scary but a fun adventure ! I love you Everquest

Love this music so much. First character ever was Cyrmorr, Wood Elf Ranger, Tallon Zek Server, May 2001. Those were the days, Kelethin was full of life (and lag) now days if you go there and use the /who command you will likely only see one player on the list... yourself.

This song brings back happy times. I was 16 when Everquest first launched back in 1999. I had to get a new video card just to play it. I had 5 fun filled years on this game. I met amazing people who I still talk with and play games with to this very day.

This game was my frist MMO and the only MMO I think I will ever love. I've played countless other MMOs out there and nothign will ever come close to this.

I have long since moved on to EQ2 wishing for that feel of being new in the Everquest environment. Yet failed to find something like it. I miss this game with all heart and soul. Even the dreaded corpse runs I had to make, not being able to find my body and all. This truly is the BEST MMO of all time. Never will it be set next to a rival.

it was awesome, because it was difficult. You had too keep attention to every single step you made. I remember running through east karana to get to high pass hold. You had to run at that time and i hated it, but when i played wow i missed it. And i miss the exp groups, i miss the exp loss. It was much more like reality that game. All the games now are fucking easy

Agree 100%..... Modern MMO's feel like they WANT you to progress..... They don't put you in a hostile world where you need to actually think and come up with creative ways of how to get something done.
