  • Drummer should come play with me :p

  • please go check out my piano cover of this song on my channel!!<3 thumbs up :)

  • I'm pretty certain she's just singing with no intention of suiting a stereotype but merely to suit the style she prefers, who the hell is anyone to argue with that?

  • she's a looker. good track tho

  • Comment removed

  • delightfully awkward.

  • aghh her voice is so pureeeeeee

  • @PublicAwkwardness yeah good point you clown

  • Comment removed

  • @PublicAwkwardness GO AND LISTEN TO RIHANA THEN YOU SHEEP. SHES GOT BEAUTY ASWELL AS FUCK ALL TALENT

  • @PublicAwkwardness clearly you're an idiot and much better suited to crappy generic corporate music where those values are valid. Be gone

  • @PublicAwkwardness yeah that is relevant, well done

  • @PublicAwkwardness Who are you to judge?! -.-*

  • @PublicAwkwardness

    seriously?

thats all you have to say for yourself?

negativity about other people for no reason.

  • Music isn't meant to be seen at but just listened to..

  • Hipster to the max

  • oh god this song gives me chills .. <3

  • Something attractive about this, not perfection of music or lyrics, but just nice

  • Hipster or not, I could care less. The point is that this music sounds good to me so I am going to listen to it regardless of the label it has. After all, that is the point of listening to music right?

  • I play clarinet. However, the music we play in class is not nearly as interesting.

  • that's no oboe, so you already got have your wish...

  • She reminds me of early Ingrid Michaelson.

  • without oboe and accordion.. would be 98 times better..

  • @blybly93 that's no oboe, no you already got half your wish...

  • @davwms2

    clarinet right?

  • @Adamdo17 yep. (to be fair, they don't look that different from oboes, but they sound nothing like them)

  • @maisieelovesyou I have been trying to learn this on the accordion. I had to just learn it by ear!

  • does anyone have the sheet music for the accordion part of this? i love it and really wanna learn!

  • hi we're dark dark dark and we're in a park park park

  • Probably my favourite discovery of this year.

  • somebody else watching the first 16 seconds over and over again? the mimic ...and the guy on the right grinning and the singer "the song is called daydreaming" -pause- "thank you" ... it's hilarious. kinda weird though ... great music btw

  • @fallingparachute hahahahha indeed lmao

  • What genre would you say is this music? (: I really like it

  • @Rawr123483 folk.

  • @Rawr123483

    Indie-something...

  • @Melonemelo

    Well, okay, Wiki says folk.

  • Love the instruments.

  • such a cute band. love.

  • these folks seem pretty honest about what they're doing to me.

  • She's so cute and awkward :3

  • I used to walk through there everyday on my way to work. Highbury!

  • I just saw Dark Dark Dark in Baltimore. It was AMAZING!! They're so willing to just hang-out and have a pint with fans. And it must be hard to have the voice of an angel!

  • I like accordions.

  • she looks like ines efron... nice voice

  • I LOVE this song !!! GREAT band

  • this is amazing...

  • the way i look at shit is like this....hey good for you if you were first to hear someone or something unfortunately that matters nothing to me because in my world the first day i hear or experience something be it a year early or a year late is my own personal experience and i'm sure doesn't matter to you. so lets just live and enjoy what we enjoy and stop complaining to each other. i love music if it's good, trance, metal, dubstep, indie,"hipster",blues, whatever.

  • How many hipsters does it take to screw in a lightbulb???

    --> It's some obscure number . . . .you've probably never heard of it.

  • @nukewares hahahahahahaa.

  • this is one of the more promising band as far as them all being amazing musicians and everyone is soo busy talking about how hip they are. Good music shouldn't be forced into one scene or style of dress it should be enjoyed by all

  • I love the accordion. It always adds such a unique sound.

  • @lamame I said just that before I scrolled down to your comment, cheers.

  • Que lindos!

  • her voice is great, and I LOVE the effect thy the instruments they used have. I like it better than the original.

  • She has a great voice.

  • I did not expect her to have that voice. It's positively lovely..!

  • Such a beautiful piece. I cried.

  • she reminds me of Amy Farrah Fowler BBT

  • The "hipster debate" has lost most of its meaning. It's about time to abandon it and invent new terms. Maybe Dark Dark Dark is arousing such contention in this youtube forum because they superficially resemble something somebody might call "hipster," but are, contrary to expectations, in fact doing something really sincere and beautiful that strikes a chord with a lot of people, myself included. What's happening here is something to celebrate, folks, not complain about.

  • @JamboCordoba i think my real problem is that i am just a little irritated with her face, i guess.

  • @JamboCordoba I think hipster is just like any other form of categorization. It's like saying that dip is spicy, instead of sweet, or bitter. It's a state of opinion. You can either run with the majority and most of the times logical critique, or disagree with categorizing anything. I find people get the most offended when other people put them into groups and label them. We're fine with labeling the universe, but not mature to see the labels for ourselves. Strange paradox we are.

  • how about we try this.... we dont worry about how they dress or what social group they fall in and just enjoy the great music they create.

  • My brother is in a duo with this guy who plays clarinet, bass clarinet, sax, and other various wind instruments and one of this guy's favorite things to complain about is the use of accordion with a clarinet. He says that it covers up the clarinet. Seeing this video kind of made me laugh. That and "We're Dark Dark Dark."

    But they're all white? XD

  • @TheNonComformity ...He plays banjo a lot of the time too.

  • @mirwin931 USA. Minnesota more specifically. Neat performance of a great song.

  • @ominousicity The accordion player is from New Orleans... Check his band out "Why are we Building Such a Big Ship?" They're on grooveshark.

  • @doctornasty1 will do, thanks for the heads up.

  • Are they Canadian?

  • I really like this. It isn't everyday that you see/hear a clarinet in music that isn't classical.

  • u 2 faggots battling on here, awesome!

  • Why can't one of you two just grow up? Youtube isn't for arguements, especially when a band as great as dark dark dark is playing. Actually though, like just drop it. @strangertoearth @sgtsanchez

  • @SgtSanchez

Shut up, i'm trying to listen?

  • she is so awkward. wow.

  • "We're Dark Dark Dark, in Highbury Park.."

    Mad Skillzz!! lol :p

  • It's like a bunch of band nerds got together and some sweet music! Love the simple blend of it all.

And do people really not have anything better to do than argue about a video on the Internet for days on end? Come on do something useful with your life, get out and actually live.

  • Dark dark dark in Hybrid Park. hah

  • I really like. niiiice.

  • People who listen to all that autotune crap have no idea what they're missing.

  • yeah, here's a good idea: let's just listen to the music : )

  • she's so cool

  • "We are Dark Dark Dark... in uh Highbury Park"

She's a poet and didn't even know it!

and I love the accordion with this<3

  • Comment removed

  • :|......................... Youtubers these days, mainly those who argue on Youtube over something that isn't the point of the video but a small(microscopic) aspect of it. Personally, I don't give a crap about what she wears mainly because I don't know her, and most likely wont ever meet her.

AND ON TO THE MAIN POINT OF THE VIDEO:

I like this band's song. I'm a new fan. wewt new fans! And she also sounds awkward when she's presenting the her band and the song.

  • She's no looker, but she's got some awesome vocals. Beautiful.

  • Gah!! It's Highbury FIELDS not Park! I should know, I live on that street!

Maybe they should change their name to Park Park Park

  • Good god, it's funny to see all the tension and petty arguments her glasses seem to have caused.

  • I like how they're literally playing this song 'where the sycamore grow' in Highbury Park. I would sing too.

  • NOBODY CARES.......

  • Who bloody cares what they look like?!

The girl has a really nice voice and the band play really good music. Ya big bunch of ignorant fools. Not everyone in this world looks like they belong in a designer clothes advert.

  • "hipster attire"...

i find it atrocious that you think of 'hipster' as more than a word, but as a preconcieved and instantly negative idea of someone, so you can take all the things you don't like and put them in a box and tell anyone you want that the box belongs to them and that they represent the box itself. So i mean why don't you...think outside the box...

hahah no but really, open up

  • Words are just the catalysts for expressing feeling and differentiating between ideas, objects, groups of people, etc. The term "hipster attire" you seem so oddly offended by is a variety of apparel characteristically worn by "hipsters", and hipster is a person who fits into a group of people who, by consensus, have certain characteristics (one of them being their attire).

In short: Yes, I put things in boxes, but so do you. You wouldn't call a fish a dog - why call a hipster by any other name?

  • @SgtSanchez yes, dogs and fish are objective things, but hipsters are not. The point is that i find the word to just be stupid and kindof empty. Idk, maybe I just get mad when people diss other people solely based on something as subjective as clothes; it's not that i'm offended by your words themselves, just how you're using them

  • "Hipster" is obviously subjective, but the grey area is painfully dark in some areas, and likewise just as white in others. Again, it's by consensus that we draw such conclusions, so in time "hipster" can change, but in pretending you don't find this hipster, you just look somewhat pathetic. Anyway, back to the point: I find her glasses (and general attire, I suppose) rather unappealing aesthetically. That's all, and I pointed it out in a comment I felt like making. The music was fine, though.

  • @SgtSanchez

I don't have to pretend, and I think if you really can't see past clothing then you are just like everyone else in the big mass of "I need something to hate to feel better about myself" mentality. That is what I do not like- the general consensus.

  • Unlike a few simpletons I know, I don't have a problem seeing something and also seeing through it. Notice that each of my comments regarding her attire also compliment her music? And consensus (as woefully "mainstream" as it is) is needed to base our reality on.

This is such a useless argument, especially with such off-mark retorts like yours.

  • @SgtSanchez Off-mark retorts? It seems our heads work in very different ways.

You can think I'm stupid all you want, I guess because I see things differently than you and you think that I'm just so much lower on the totem pole than you are. The way I see it, there is no totem pole, but there are people that will try to climb on your back to reach higher than you can, saying, "Look at me! The person below me is an idiot now that I am on top!"

But yeah really, fuck us for arguing on youtube lol

  • It's not because you see things differently that makes you stupid, it's that each of your comments has lengthened the distance between this discussion and its origins. I've tried to follow along, I even attempted politeness in my first rebuttal, but you just get more and more arrogant and condescending with each post. Likewise, I have escalated in my responses.

All this because you REALLY fucking like her glasses and disagree with anyone who finds them distracting.

    "Open up".

  • @SgtSanchez

"You wouldn't call a fish a dog - why call a hipster by any other name?"

No, you wouldn't call a fish a dog, but other than sounding neat and pithy, that has nothing to do with slapping a 'hipster' nametag on a complex, multi-layered STRANGER because of a couple things about them you smugly attach to that label which allows you to see society as a tidy zoo, everyone kept with their own kind. A person isn't an equation you can simplify to x = hipster.

    Fucking analogies.

  • @StrangerToEarth

Perhaps you'd like to examine the context. Thanks to the lovely blackandpink17, I wasn't talking about the girl in the video, but "boxes"/"hipsters" in general. In my original post, I wasn't calling her hipster, I was calling her attire hipster, and if this other comment made it sound like I was specifically calling her a hipster, it wasn't intentional. It's not easy to fit everything in a 500-character comment (without sounding "pithy"). Anything else?

  • Oh, and thanks for the wonderfully ironic assumptions you made. Never knew I thought the world was a "tidy zoo".

    Fucking moron.

  • @SgtSanchez

I'm talking about 'boxes/hipsters in general' too. And what you mean is that if someone dresses like a hipster, or presumably acts like a hipster by buying a 4 quid top ironically or being a musical elitist, then they as a 'thing' are as much a hipster as a fish is a fish. Yes, you put things in boxes. No need to be so vague. Put your friends and family into boxes (eg Girlfriend = sociopath) but not an entire group of strangers who share superficial similarities. It's smug.

  • @StrangerToEarth

"And what you mean is that if someone dresses like a hipster... they... are as much a hipster as a fish is a fish."

    Wrong.

Is a series of consistent and obvious superficialities grounds by which to judge? Of course it is. Grounds to judge them negatively or positively or to the extent of labelling them concretely? Of course not. Good thing I never did that, then! Any idiot knows a fish needs more than scales to be considered as such. They need to smell bad and be music elitists.

  • @SgtSanchez

But you're "labelling them concretely". Whether in a negative or positive context is irrelevant - "they need to smell bad and be musical elitists" is negative so I'm assuming you prefer people either less identifiable as belonging to a specific demographic or those belonging to yours (possibly post-uni or aspiring sophisticate). S'fine. You pigeonhole people according to the layout of the typical social zoo so that navigating it is safer. I prefer to wait for genuine evidence.

  • @StrangerToEarth

That, my friend, was a joke. And no, I haven't labelled anyone concretely. I've labelled clothes as "hipster", but what of that? You can't deny that it was pretty obvious. You're just wrong.

And again with the irony. You assume an awful lot about me without any "genuine evidence". Maybe it's time to tuck your tail between your legs and stop replying. At this point, you're not coming up with anything new, and the things you've said before this weren't worth repeating.

  • @SgtSanchez Irony trumps basic American humor. Me: 1, You = 0. Running circles around you as a solemn, overactive youtuber has been fun. I'm having fun and you're resorting to attacking the worth of my argument instead of the actual argument. I remain right: you pigeonhole people predictably. Me: 2, You: 0. Taking the harder side of the argument and making it sound valid is good History degree practice. I also think I've been the wittier one. Me: 3, You: 0. You're clever. Me: 3, You: 1.

  • @StrangerToEarth

Oh my goodness. Up until now I thought you were just confused because you attacked me for something I didn't support in any way at all, but now I think you're a bit crazy. Why are you "evaluating" our argument? For whose benefit? Just to troll? No one else here gives a shit, and you'd be daft to not realise this, so are you just feeding your own ego?

I haven't attacked the worth of your argument, just the need for your argument to exist at all (as it's a rebuttal to no one).

  • And if you're going to troll, here are some pointers: if you're not going to be offensive, keep it interesting, if you're not going to be interesting, keep it short. Here's an example:

"you're just offended because you're a hipster fag".

    See how easy that was?

  • @SgtSanchez

Aaand you also do nothing unless it's something everyone else 'gives a shit about'. I'm probably eerily right with my 'ironic assumptions' as you're resorting to the response the unintelligent and cornered give: 'no 1 gives a fuk wut u hav 2 say'. No one gives a shit about anything pretty much anyone says or does, except celebrities. And? Just web-clever then, in a world where everyone who pisses you off is a troll and everyone you fancy is an anime porn character. Meh.

  • @StrangerToEarth

The thing is, you didn't say anything important or relevant to the argument at all. I don't mind making idiots like you look like the idiots they are, but I don't write two (boring, unimaginative, and pathetic) comments trying to lampoon you for things that have no relevancy. You can't stay on the fucking topic. Not even from the get-go could you understand this basic concept. So, yeah, NO ONE (including myself) gives a shit when you try to "attack" me personally.

  • @SgtSanchez

Yeah, no, you really do give a shit.

    Still meh.

  • @StrangerToEarth

This is how you're going to sign off? A pitiful, last-ditch attempt at getting my goat? I'm honestly not offended by - nor do I give a shit about - anything someone like you has to say in regards to my person. I tried to stay on task with this whole thread, but if you're not going to have any of that, that's fine, but don't get pissy when I call you out on it. Now go write a poem about how no one understands you and how parents are lame and etc..

  • @SgtSanchez

Who would pass up the opportunity to spar with someone who says things like 'getting my goat'? Somehow, you still haven't called me out on anything. You just sounded off on the same two tangents: the 'no one gives a shit, troll' and the 'I don't give a shit, troll' when the first petered out. And then you finished with a flourish - 'now go write a poem about (insert emo tween reference)'.

I am talking to the youtube collective.

  • @StrangerToEarth

Are you pretending you've made a point in any of your last few posts? What do I say to "Yeah, no, you really do give a shit"? Because I - IN ALL HONESTY - could not care less what you think about me (seriously. I'm not lying), but what does it have to do with the stupid shit you've said about zoos and hipsters and so on? I don't have anything to rebut other than 'you're lame', but apparently you think this is some sort of be-all-end-all in terms of arguments.

  • This has really gotten boring though, so if you're waging a war of attrition, you might be winning. I've even tried to turn the argument back into what it was before - something about glasses and hipsters - but nope. It's got to be all about me, I guess, and how I get emotional but you don't and how irony is one point better than "basic American humo[u]r" and how I pigeonhole glasses (or as you put it: "people") and how I for sure definitely give a shit, even if I don't.

  • @SgtSanchez

Oh, and I'm guessing you're what, in your mid-30s? I'm 19, female and a student. Considering that I've held up well and not gotten all sensitive and inapropros (unlike you). And I think my metaphors were pretty wicked. Me: 4, You: 1. I suppose I should make it even since this is youtube and 9 out of 10 people on here are two comments away from at least one mental disorder. And now I'll leave you with the most infuriating little phrase ever spoken: OPEN UP.

  • Amazing song, I'm trying to learn this on guitar, I've got the capo on 3, and devised that the main chords are C, Em and Am but can anyone help me out on the whole song?

  • derp derp derp is more like it, lolz

  • my, this has some alive "folk" touch in it that is missing from all those songs produced by "Copy-Paste"-ing in Cubase.

  • HI, we are DERPDERPDERP

  • omg she is so ugly? whooooooooooo

  • @theK0OKS how can someone write stuff like that. the mask of internet seems to legalize everything..

  • @ComeBackSmiling not legalize, just make it easier to say stuff

  • This isnt acually hipster clothing...I adore this song! x

  • @truelieswow Are you blind AND deaf?

  • @thegirlwhocriedpeace i am neither! to be honest, it just seems to me to be egocentric self-obsessed music, and the clothes are just plain drab!

but that's just my opinion, obviously you differ! it's just not my thing, i prefer music which is slightly more contenious and perhaps even a little more divisive, e.g. tupac, BBC or symettry

  • @truelieswow Nothing you said makes sense, your reasoning is just a bunch of you stereotyping a whole genre as self-centered. Why do the clothes matter?

But whatever, this song is wonderful.

    See yaa.

  • @thegirlwhocriedpeace i never mentioned a genre at any point, nor did i imply that the poor clothing diverted from the musical valitidy of what was being produced. unless you assume that when refering to hipster attire, this reference extended to hipster music by proxy. it didn't. it really didn't. i quite like indie/hipster music, some of it's very inventive and very interesting; but this song i don't like because of it's lack in originality.

i wasn't trying to be polemic...

  • i think she looks nice :) and i love this song.. lots.

  • I think I watch this video every other day.

  • Music video of a bunch of badly dressed geeky guys: "OMG, I love their music!"

Music video of a badly dressed geeky woman: "OMG, what is she wearing?!"

OK, so she could have chosen more flattering glasses. So what? Her male band mates aren't dressed any better. Judge it on the song, which, whilst admittedly not really my cup of tea, isn't bad either.

  • I don't know but I find the singer to be attractive in her on way anyone else get the same feeling? what's with all this stupid hipster shit who cares!

  • she has such a gorgeous voice <3

  • ladies and gentleman, julian smith on drums. :D tehe

  • she sounds like regina spektor

  • @GeeeeeeeMann Kinda, yeah.

  • chigaos como me gusta esta cancion.....

  • This is pretty great. Thank you.

  • Dark Dark Dark ... Goose?

  • Anyone know these videos are filmed with a Canon 7D or 5DMKII?

  • It's a good song... Just maybe, ditch the glasses?

  • haha love the awkward intro

  • famazing.

  • the singer seems a bit weird

  • @bille77 She looks like the type of woman who would have hairy arm pits. Not a bad song though.

  • Became familiar with these guys while living in New Orleans. Fell in love.

  • well she's jolly isnt she?

  • so tasty!!!

  • watchlistentell stop freaking with the film effects! All new clips look creepy and plain. Can't you let it be in decent colours? Like in Bombay Bicycle Club or Life in Film clips way back! Really the sadness of new clips is horribly annoying, I don't get you guys =/

  • @OrionPolska91 I love the colours

  • its a novelty to see an acoustic video without a guitar :P

  • I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CAMERA THEY USE!!

  • @Gaelleeee your mother

  • @bille77 Can't see what my mother has to do with this, very mature guy you are

  • How would a musician go about getting involved with watchlistentell? :)

  • thumbs up for the clarinet!

  • A bit sloppy, but I enjoyed her voice

    Shes cute too. Very cute

  • weird for watchlistentell and bandstand busking to get the same band and same song very close to one another!

  • beautiful song :)

  • Not so dark dark dark..... more like vegan pallor.

  • What lens are you using?

  • What the fuck is hipster?

  • @theantiorangejordan it's what the name someone to make them seem uncool because there jealous

  • It kind of reminds me a Beirut, but with a female lead singer. I like that.
