This comment is not to brag by any means, but I own both the Alienware M17x aswell as the Asus G73Jh-A2 and to be frank, I prefer the Asus. The machine overall is just sleeker, the keyboard is far more ergonomic and spread out than the M17x and it just feels nicer overall. Both basically share the same or similar hardware, except minor improvements over the other. But besides that they are essentially the same. just the Asus is better. :]

They both use the same components, just different operating systems. Macs are best in any way

I've seen dells protection plans and they don't cover what Apple covers, unless you bump up to $200-$300 price range. And just to touch on the bootcamp thing, the only reason to use that is if you were a PC user and switched to Mac but still want to use the PC software for it. I know soooooo many people who bought Macs for Pro editing suites like Final Cut Pro. And the new iMac 27" with the Core i7 is the bridge between Professionals and people starting in career fields. People get macs for quality not for gaming. Alienwares are good for gaming but most owners have issues with them. A laptop is not really meant for gaming. It is prone to overheating among other things. I suggest you get a desktop for gaming and a cheaper laptop if any. Alienwares are big and heavy, its not like you would want to take it everywhere you go, not to mention, battery life is crap.

The mac series especially the macbook pro 17 inch is meant for college and work due to it's revolutionary battery life. Although it can also be used for gaming, it still wouldnt run as well as an alienware. Thats why i have both.

I have some external USB-drives that are constantly connected and it would nice to have SOME USB-connections at the back.

If you have a mouse connected, the connections on the side will be in the way. I rather use a mouse when I´m home instead of the mouspad.
