  • thumbs up if u came here cuz u heard "best i ever had"

  • im from da hood, and this song is the shit

  • @bluntman305 Yea,fo sho,dawg!

  • @bluntman305 You may be from the 'hood' as you put it but this is one of the foundations of American popular culture. Whether or not you like it, without the early shows like this a lot of the media you enjoy today would not exist. As my dear grandmother used to tell me "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

  • @ScottishgirlAnnlorie he said it was the shit, as in it's good. chill.

  • @ScottishgirlAnnlorie

    I think you misunderstood him.

If somebody from the 'hood' says something is 'the shit', it means he likes it.

Just like saying:"This song is tha bomb!"

  • @ScottishgirlAnnlorie I read bluntmans comment, believe it or not, "the shit" is actually a good thing. It means the best.

  • @TheHorrorAnthem Really? well then I should probably apologize to bluntman... I really do not get modern slang....

  • @ScottishgirlAnnlorie Haha ya its cool, most modern slang is pretty lame. I myself am actually 24, and dont speak in slang like most people my age, and I also find Andy Griffith to be the greatest sitcom ever made. I am a huge fan, which is rare for a 24 year old. I very much agree with the message you sent to bluntman.

  • @ScottishgirlAnnlorie

Hey there. I'm thinking the guy was just using a street metaphor for "good".

But I still liked your comment and I totally agree with you.

    Thumbs up!

  • @ScottishgirlAnnlorie bitch one i said this song is da shit so dont be talkn like your a boss

  • My Amazon Parrot whistles/sings to this :D she LOVES it

She hasnt learned the words yet

  • Andy's character should be the standard ALL cops live by.

  • I play this song for my cockatiel. She whistles to it

  • @marvthemuffin15 me too

  • Great song for the best TV show ever made.

Too bad nice, little Oppie grew up to be a corrupt Hollywood director who directs movies that Jesus Christ was a fornicator and the entire Christian religion is a deliberate fraud.

Andy Griffith and Ron Howard did propaganda for Obama campaign saying that Obama was all about the good things of the AGS.

  • best song ever

  • this is what i can call a theme song! nice catchy not ot long and you can almost fit in in anything!

  • i had to learn this song in fourth grade because we went to the mountains on a field trip, and we got to go to Mt. Airy, we have a picture of me in the police car too, and we had to sing it to the PTA for making the trip free... good times

  • the world is too beautiful for wars...btw im muslim

  • I'm only 23, but my dad is 76 and from the South.

I showed this to him, and he loved it.

Things like that make me wish I were born back then. He even has a secret lake out in the country that him and I go to when we want to fish . It's out in the woods and everything.

  • this song was whistled at sourmath (DOT) com! Like if I wasn't lying! ;D

  • Comment removed

  • Pure genius. Thank you Andy, Ronnie and Francis. Rest in peace Don. I love this song. I think Mayberry is more a place in the heart than the map.

  • @Houdini774 Francis is also gone, in fact if memory serves, she was the firs of the main cast (aside from floyd the barber) to pass away.

  • how could someone dislike this?

  • 1 person can't whistle this tune

  • @Cyrusmiyazaki I cant and I still liked it, xD

  • Oh what a great show!!! This is my dad's favorite show, and one of mine too. I'm thirteen and like all the classic, nice, clean, family shows like the Dukes of Hazzard, Little House on the Prairie, I Love Lucy, The Brady Bunch, Leave It To Beaver.. those types. I absolutely LOVE THIS SHOW! I hope it never goes off the air! :)

  • So would this song be called "the fishin' hole"?

  • epic song

  • My Lazy Sundays :)

  • @galipooh is that the thing with the old men getting freaky?

  • @jackolas2007 hahaha nah its the website that you use to prank people because you can't click on anything for about 10 mins. The old men getting freaky is lemon party i think...

  • My Lazy Sundays :)

  • love this show! such a catchy tune too, I could listen to it all day long

  • Floyd the barber lost a leg during the airing of this series and in later episodes is always seen behind the barber chair. And, no, he's not black, stupid. Furthermore, 2 and a half men is more an update on Caligula, not Andy Griffith. There IS a difference between Aunt Bea and beaver. Says a lot about the little you.

  • @bawanderr you know tthat 2 and a half men has the same pic as the pic used in this vid right ?

says allot about the rager you

  • Never heard this before, didnt know they had any lyrics to it.

  • Watched this every time it was on with my dad who passed away, best memory ever. thanks for posting this.

  • my lazy sundays :p

  • @Jorgen297 roflrofl

  • 1:17 is an older version of two and a half men

  • @CarusoProductions they look like alan charlie and jacke :D oh my god :D

  • @CarusoProductions Nope. Not an older version of two and a half men. Not the same at all. Andy and Barney did not live together, they were not brothers, the son wasn't Barney's, but Andy's, neither Andy nor Barney were into drugs, women, alcohol, you name it. Of course, Andy and Barney were the lead characters, but you cannot say the third most important or relevant character was Opey, played by young Ron Howard. The picture you refer to at 1:17 shows the 3 of them together, that's all.

  • @CarusoProductions hahahaha yes!!!

  • Are these official? Because they sure do fit.

  • This is cute. =)

  • this song calls " papas" in Turkey.

cool song by the way İNCİ SİKER

  • I have heard of the rare lyrics verison before. Was that ever used on the show? Just like they never explained Aunt B and Andy. Was that his real Aunt? What happend to Andy's parents? Were is Opie's mom? It is the longest running show ever. Not in the number of epsodes, but since the orginal running it has never been on TV.

  • @tgpii Aunt Bea is Andy's aunt who took care of him when he was a little boy. Also, Opie's mom is supposed to have died when he was very little. They refer to it vaguely in the first season a few times.

  • I had know idea this song had words to it. I Love Itt!!!!!

  • What a fine day to take a stroll and wonder by the fishin' hole

I can't think of a better way to pass the time of day. :)

  • @TheOnlyArtifex Almost certainly. The psychiatrist chick, right?

  • @MatoVuc Molly Clock season 4 yes :)

  • i never watched this show and yet somehow i knew how to whistle this theme :P

  • actually floyd the barber was a negro... they made him wear whiteface for the show.. little known fact...

  • @dahmeredsback Howard McNear, who played Floyd the barber, was not African American.

  • The original Andy Griffith verison of the theme song.

  • This version of the song would have killed the show. Smart idea to cut it.

  • @electrojones why do you think that? just asking out of curiosity

  • Wow, I too am surprised there are words to this. Of course I can whistle the common theme that you hear when it's aired on TV. Does anyone know if the original theme to "No Time For Seargents" (found by typing "United States Steel Hour, No Time...1955) the forefront to the AG Show?

  • WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!

  • @ericgosai thats why i looked this up

  • @donthateshorties123 lmao me too

  • omgosh i had noooo ideeer there were words to this, and sung by himself? what a hoot! this is simply wonderful :o)

  • Make room for Daddy was the first show. The spin offs were:

Make room for granddaddy, and The Andy Griffith Show.

Spin Offs of The Andy Griffith Shoe Are: Gomer Pile USMC, MayBerry RFD, The New Andy Griffith Show, and Matlock. Though there were a couple more such as a talk show by Don Knotts.

  • Oddly enough,, they never did explain why the kid was named Opie... I mean, is that normal for north carolina? And how come you never saw any blackies in this show?

  • @xvoy2002 I'm not sure about the name Opie. I think it was a "made up" name for the show. If by "blackies" you mean black people, then the reason is because the show was set in Andy's home town of Mt. Airy, NC. Small towns like this are all across the south and were settled by non slave owners. However, When Ernest T. Bass tried to join the Army, there was a black man in line at the recruiting office.

  • @rightisright100 Thanks for the info. Wondered why it was all white show!

  • @rightisright100 Well, thanks for the comment. It never really occurred to me until i was watching this video that there were never black people on the show. I always thought the American south states had lots of blacks. But never saw one. Either way, Mayberry seems like a nice town.!

  • @rightisright100 Thank you for posting this clip and the info. I never knew that there were towns in the south that refused to enslave African people. I hope that God blessed them for it and continues to bless their towns.

  • @rightisright100 also in episode "Opies piano lessens", Opies football coach is black

  • @rightisright100 that is completely false. Mount Airy DOEs have a significant black population. the reality of it is that the town was segregated. even so, youd still see black people in the downtown and when andy was driving around. the fact that you didn't see any just goes with the way of 1950's TV shows.

  • @AgentCarter i honestly a few here and there. but true in that time, there wasnt many black actors wanting roles in shows about the south as well.

  • @looneybun1 thats total bullshit

  • @AgentCarter not according to alot of literature i've read, interviews, etc. I've been a fan of TAGS for many many years & wondered on that very subject. Its been brought up time& again. (plus i meant to say i saw a few here & there,& it should also have read, there WEREN'T many).. I didnt bring this up to argue because im sure ive argued(& won) against better people thn u & ur foul mouth.Am just reporting what ive heard,no idea if its true, but NO reason to doubt my resources at this time.

  • @looneybun1 youve not stated anything with any substance. Just "i read it and its true blah blah blah"

you really mean to tell me that there werent black people on the andy griffith show because black actors didnt want to be on TV shows about the south? really? it had nothing to do with the fact that white people didnt want to watch wholesome small town shows with black people in them? it had nothing to do with the racial segregation of the time period? really?

  • @AgentCarter so u decided to take what i said, which was obviously an "in addition to" statement and blow it out of proportion??? have fun in your own little world. of COURSE i know tht was going on back then. but i'm ALSO sayin tht there was this othr factor. U should try usin ur head for something other than a hatrack. OF COURSE it had to do with the racial segregation of tat time period. so dont "really" me, like u know something. btw...ur barking up the wrong tree anyway. I lol!

  • @AgentCarter so u decided to take what i said, which was obviously an "in addition to" statement and blow it out of proportion??? have fun in your own little world. of COURSE i know tht was going on back then. but i'm ALSO sayin tht there was this othr factor. OF COURSE it had to do with the racial segregation of tat time period. so dont "really" me, like u know something. btw...ur barking up the wrong tree anyway. I lol!

  • @looneybun1 except that it had nothing at all to do with black actors not wanting to be on TV. none of them were offered to be on TV, because the Tv show's producers didnt want them.

your "in addition to" statement total bullshit, even if you supposedly read "alot of literature".

  • @AgentCarter my mistake. "a lot of literature" on that subject. and i did. but if using the bs word makes u feel better, please by all means continue. u've NO idea about what any actor wanted or didnt want back then. but if u have nothing better to do than to argue or put down people you dont know, and it makes you feel more like man/woman...then by all means, enjoy!!!!! while i go live my life.........loser. oh, did i mention, IM done, so what u post after this, i wont comment on. ciao! :)

  • @looneybun1 YOu have no idea what any actor then thought. in fact, you have no idea about anything. you have no idea how to think logically either.

    and what literature was it?

  • @AgentCarter They just wanted a nice show. Nothing wrong with that.

  • @AgentCarter There are black folks all OVER the south. Problem is that the older generation is so damned racist that if you put blacks on a TV show, they wouldn't watch it. Also, they wanted to portray Mt. Airy as a quaint, happy little town and you can't do that if you're showing the intense poverty and suffering of the black population of the segregated south.
