@designeranoraks To be fair to you, this promo was made with the aim of getting the film commissioned by the bbc so there are so many other artists not featured that should be in there. We have interviewed many all over the country.. however your statement about Masta Ace being' gladly put in to support a weak cause' is way off the mark.. Maseo, Ace, Spinna etc have and still do all collaborate with uk rappers/producers.. thanks for your comment.
I think skinnyman talks like that in interviews and shit to be taken more seriously, if you talk like some yob who's gonna take your view on something seriously?
mon dieu bit blatant brethren but fair play every one shud have their say and at least youse lot spit trust and love and truth, i feel that.....these govt got me fb frriend in jail already for play paintball and spread word of islamic freedom road...u egged me on now i think i go bk kingston play cops and robbers with any wrong uns and play kiss chase any nice ones...simples
@peebeee75 Skinnyman has the ability to rhyme how it comes naturally to him and to also communicate in a way that can be understood by anyone and everyone. He is a great communicator with something to say. As i would put it, 'keeping it real on every level'. I hope this is of some help, but you should ask him yourself if you see him about, he is very approachable. Thanks for your comment.

With Grime morphing into Hip Hop and artists like Chipmunk getting 'Best Hip Hop Artist' (however misguided that shit is) perhaps UK Hip Hop will get its overdue recognition... But these Grime wannabe Hip Hop heads gotta recognise their UK Hip Hop roots... half of them don't know who Hijack is... and pioneers like these birthed Grime. Its like the bastard child returns to shit in daddy's shoes...

its only broken through becoz white kids like the idea of listenin to white emcees and thats how they start thinkin "hey ima start SPITTIN"...so thats WHY its big even tho most of it is wack !
id rather UK Hip Hop didnt go massive, its great to be able to see people like foreign beggars in small venues with less than 100 people, better than 15,000 people in some massive fucking arena in my opinion.
true, but i don't think it's so much about filling a 15000 capacity venue rather than getting the airplay and recognition so many of these artists deserve. You can still play 15000 venues and do smaller ones to. Better to have the ability to do both and those artists that want to stay true to their roots will still do the small gigs. Thanks for your comment bro.

im british and i listen to both uk and us, US underground is better than brit grime, most of these 'rappers' are chav and as such have to make life hell for the rest of us brit's, i've meet US rappers example ill bill and there down to earth people who know what there talking about, im not saying and brit rap sucks, i like v double o, plan b, kano and example etc
So your saying US underground is better than grime OK n your mind it might be but that dont make it better lol and as for the rappers being chavs and making YOUR life hell YEAH RIGHT lmao what a prick!
dude i completly agree im british but uk hip hop cant touch us hip hop. plus they r chav like u said. i mean how many famous hip hop uk artists can people name tht have made it massive?
thank you someone with a mind, but fame is not the point, all famous morden rappers suck dick, the reason why i hate this kano, dizze shit is because all they talk about is how cool they are, there gangs and no shit how there going to kill you

At the time we made this trailer, the exposure and media coverage of the UK Hip Hop scene in Britiain was the highest it had ever been before. Expecting a new dawn and the scene to expand and move with this new interest sadly didn't happen the way we or anyone had hoped. You are right, it hasn't broken through, it is still simmering beneath the surface with the exception of Estelle or the odd Dizzy tune. We do look at the US underground but it isnt in the trailer. thanks for your comment.
there was some fuckin sick english rappers, for example gunshot, what happend to them, uks been taken over by this shit grime that gets on my nerves, fuck kano and dizzie, there ruining the scene
Kalashnekoff, Ti2bs, Blak Twang, Million Dan, Braintax, Buggz, yungun and many more... BBC radio have pushed all 'Urban' or 'Black' music or however you want to call it onto 1xtra and away from the mainstream listener.
ite yeh there respected buh give the uk some time americas been doin it since the start and theyve broken through but now over there alot of them are commercial (well the main 1s) but the uk are what america was like at the start.
Well im a UK Born livin in America for 8 years and pisses me off that we dont get publicity cos we represent their society and we aint gettn no attention
soo pisses me off if they think we all about cup n tea n being posh
man we been doin dis Urban ting for over 20 years now n still we dont get any credit but we do now days from rappers they appreciate what we do but not the producers or the people!!!
uk hip hop is all about the truth thats why theres no money in it. in u.s hiphop only fake artists like 50 cent and them make the big bucks the good u.s artists r stuck in the underground. its the way capatalism works man u aint allowed freedom of expression.
hang on now man, Eminem is famous, he is certainly allowed his freedom of expression listen to his songs such as "Mosh" where he shouts out against the government administration of his country
mosh barley touches on any real government issues, he just talks about himself for the first few verses then drops a couple of lines about bush bein a nob. check out the lyrical abilities of saigon, dead prez, vinnie paz, immortal technique, they all u.s artists they all underground coz theyr lyrical content is concious.
US hip hop gives black people a bad name. UK grime does the same thing. UK hip hop is conscious music. Thats why it is never allowed to go mainstream. They want to keep inner cities idiolising criminal states of mind.....obvious man just look at the situation
this is the truth! watcvh and listen carefully people, at last a dvd addressing the problems of the uk hip hop industry, where are all the record labels??? they are here but signing boy bands lol its ridiculous the amount of talent that the uk has we could be running it red like america do with the urban music scene we just dont have the labels backing us.
finally something worth looking into, helping promote our culture. i remember jamming to london posse way way back. it's just a shame it's taken so long for our music to be heard, goes to show it takes more than a half hour slot on westwood to promote it. artists like roots, jehst, taskforce, iguana man, etc, etc, etc are strong enough to be mainstream, yet there is no support or backing from major radio stations or labels. thank fuck for lowlife.

I mean, they seem to take their time and they put alot of THOUGHT into their Lyrics! You gotta RESPECT that!

you know what - there is always gonna be commercial crap and underground sounds in every country.
USA wise - I like Mos Def, Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Pharoah Monch.
UK wise - I like Chipmunk, Skinnyman, Akala, Ghetto.
US fans may not have heard of these UK dudes - but US artists have and they give props. Thats the opinion that counts as far as I'm concerned.
Record labels don't pump cash into UK scene coz there's no money in it yet, we don;t have defjam or badboy size labels over here
