So what exaclty does "Enable timeline overwrite" do?

Furthermore: I don't get the benefits of using the trimmer (although I've used it a few times before). If I actually edit my footage in the timeline, I always have tracks that I mute where I can put cut out scenes in that I may want get back to later or whatever. For me "timeline-editing" gives me all the features and clarity I need using more than just one track.

So if anyone could give me detailed benefits that I might not know of yet?

I can use all the tips here on my channel as Vegas is my software, but an older no. 8 simpler version (only has 1 extra audio track to the 3 offered in default and 1 extra video track to the 2 plus 1 text tracks offered). It takes me forever to learn through trial and error... nice that you offer free hints as well as your 'for pay' versions.
