I have to add though, you cut it off early. =( Messier: 'This is what it takes to win the Stanley Cup right here.' Mactavish: '22 stitches in the head.' XD
1:25 is awesome. I wasn't born until 1989 but I got this video as a gift from my aunt when I was 7 or 8 and it instantly turned me into an Oilers fan. The last true NHL dynasty, the Red Wings have been a fantastic team for two decades, but they haven't been anywhere near as dominant as the Oilers.
23 years later you look back and see how special this Oiler team really was. The talent on one team and their ability to work together. One of a kind in the NHL. In professional sports there are maybe 3-4 teams of all time that can rival this Oiler team for greatness.
i don't thinkflames fans should watch this cuz one they don't know hockey never will they are mad that there team can't match up to the oilers never have never will so they have to say gay things to help make them self's feel better its pretty sad when u think about it
These were some of the best years of my life! My High School Grad fell on the same day that they won their first Cup.
My Dad had Oilers seasons tickets throughout the 80's. So I was able to go to many of the games. But I think like most Edmontonians, we didn't realize what we were actually witnessing. Arguably the most talented team in NHL history.
If the core players (Coffey, Lowe, Gretz, Kurri, Mess, Anderson) had stayed together, I think it's safe to say that we would've won a few more.
Seems to be a lot of people here that are insecure on their sexuality.
This is pure hardcore 80s, a brilliant spiritual chronicle of the best IceHockey team ever. had it on VHS when was a kid. Fuckin gayisch maybe. gayisch and raw pure nostalgy and classic. LOVE IT!
just wanna bash...when hearing this song. What is it called by the way? Anyone? gay or not...
yeah i wish i was older too, i was born in 84' like 4 months before they won the cup the first time. I have this entire movie at home on VHS... its seriously awesome, brutal 80's music hahah but whatever, it was the 80's. Greatest team ever, no question. i love them, allways have allways will. its actually sad watching the movie when i do. i'm a diehard Messier fan & old oiler fan. so.... fuck the Flames and fuck New Jersey! bunch of fuckin fucks!
Long live Grant Fuhr's acrobatics, Mark Messier's grit, Jari Kurri's speed, Paul Coffey's power and Wayne Gretzky's finesse and skill, but most of all, FUCK THE FLAMES!!! Go Oilers! Forever!
We own the VHS for The Boys on the Bus. My mom bought the VHS for my father when it first came out in the eighties, because she knew he liked the Edmonton Oilers. This was the first VHS she had ever bought however, and so she had no clue that you were supposed to keep the case; so naturally she threw it out -_- Which sucks, because I think if it had the case still it would have been worth something someday.
Hey Mittsie, love the footage, i just had a question for ya..Tom McMurchy is a good friend of mine and he was trying to find game footage from SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH 1987, the oilers were @MSG where tom was awarded first star. Hockey Night in Canada wanted OR it could of been some MSG broadcasters, not to sure but, Sather denied the interview live on T.V...Anyways, would you know where i could get that vintage game ?
Get to know your history "Oiler fan". That's just typical music for late 80's and early 90's, might seem gay today but really wasn't back in the day. I guess you still have some growing up to do...
The fact that you would say what you just did, obviously shows that you have some growing up to do yourself. Of course it wasn't gay back in the day... Did I say it was? Huh huh huh?
Well did I say that I don't have growing up to do? I can honestly say that I got a lot of growing up to do, I think we all do. Except you of course..?
cool video, although I can't stand 1980's-soundtracks. The only decent soundtrack was anything Kenny Logins music..lol. Jari Kurri was my favorite Edmonton Oiler! Number 17!
I remember when i lived in edmonton.. and goin to a game with the oilers and the devils.. watching this exact line-up playing. Pure magic. There will never be a team like this again
the Oilers are the best damn hockey team ever. anybody who disagrees is a fucking moron. fuck you philly, boston and long island, we killed you what? 1000 times? LOL. Piss off!
WTH are you talking about? Did I imply I was either an Edmonton or Calgary fan? And what makes you think I'd care about a second rate football league? Geez, quit assuming things.
Because the CFL is comprised of people not good enough to play in the NFL. Average CFL salary is $55k. Average rookie NFL salary is $325k. The players are better, and the quality of the game is higher in the NFL. The CFL all star team would get crushed by the worst NFL team, regardless of what set of rules used. People who think the CFL is anywhere close to the NFL are living in a dreamworld.
Haha I'd love to be in the room when 80's bands wrote the lyrics for songs like this. I bet there was alot of mullets, beer coozies and high fivin goin around
The Oilers hold virtually all the team and individual NHL scoring records. Most impressive victory was the 13-0 destruction of the Canucks on November 8, 1985. Now thats some victory. And if the object of the game of hockey is to put the puck in the net, the Oilers and their players are simply the best ever.
You know this is an old video because I actually know who some of the guys are. Today the only Oiler I can name you is Joey Moss.

Could that be because they all retired?
Like it or not, that Oilers' club was one of the 3 best ever. 6 Hall of Famers on one roster may not be unprecedented, but it is jaw-dropping.
