  • @97clochette Actually, using a mounting block is the best way to get on a horse if you are using a saddle. Getting on from the ground can cause unnecessary twisting and pressure on the horse's spine and over time can cause back issues.

  • What's hard is getting on a 17.3hh clydesdale without a block when you're 5'2 :P

Everyone has to learn to mount without a block at some point, and sometimes it takes time, especially with a tall horse. It helps to grab some mane and say "whoa" (:

  • just get on the fucking horse

  • Omg, it's a way to get on a horse, but it took for long time.

I get on my horse like this!!

  • If you don't know how to get on the horse like that . Don't do it then!! And that is a way to get on a horse because that how i get on my horse!!

  • Meh! That has happened to every rider at some point.

  • i could get on a horse without a block the first time i rode one

  • wtf

  • I ride western and while I don't use a block to get on I could of used one with my old horse he was 18 hh (ex race horse ) and I'm only 5'3 talk about jumping to get on lol after ahile I got use to getting on him lol I sure do miss him broke his leg almost 2 years ago he was 28 but I wouldn't trade a moment I ever had with him !

  • Me every time I try to mount my horse without the block.....

  • You did it!

  • well that took a wile

  • Reminded me of last week my horse was tired so I rode another horse and the people at my barn couldn't find anyone at the skill level I am on because most horses there are beginners so they pick this horse that is 17'1 yeah I'm 5'1 and you could see how that went because my coach HATES the mounting block I fell 6 times.....BEFORE I got on.

  • @AmandaandKiara77 17 1 hh

  • hahaha i hope you come up on the horse faster next time ;D

My horse is bigger and when i jump up on her it only take about 2 seconds :P

  • Ive done this :) flipped myself over on the other side too lol I think everyone has a few bad mounting experiences, so whoever gives you crap about this obviously doesnt ride enough for it to matter. She's a lovely mare btw! Well mannered.

  • She did fine just try not to get on using your English stirrups its not good for them try using a mounting block :)

  • Hey, you made it. You should have seen me try to learn how to swing up bareback with my 16.1 h mare. It was much uglier.

  • and a friend of my has an bigfriesian so this horse will not be so hard o.o

  • @jasminerebbagrey no its not so hard :Z

  • That is one patient horse. She's just like, "Haha, you're short."

  • aww! thats awesome!

i have trouble getting on large horses because im so short xD

  • Next time try to push it with your hands it's easier! BELIVE ME

  • wat language r u speakinf ? xxx

  • Comment removed

  • LOL I have totally done this! Thank goodness for tree stumps, mounting blocks, car hoods and picnic benches! Thank you for sharing ! :)

  • Un étrier plus grand que l'autre ! --"

  • I used to mount a horse using the stirrup. But once I teach my horse to stay beside the stepladder (I think it was 3 years ago) I am too lazy to mount this way :-D. And maybe it would look like this again :-D

  • wow is it so hard to get on a horse? o.o

  • @Cytjuh Without a mounting block yeah :')

  • using a mounting block is easier on the Horse's back when you mount, most Riders use them nowadays..or sometimes they use higher ground, and btw..it doesn't make you any less of a Horse rider when you use help..even the most experienced Rider needs Help sometimes..it does not make you weak or any less experienced! :P

  • you have never got on a horse without help before? then you were not a real horserider there x)

  • i do it maybe once a week.. but i dont dig the stirup into my horses LEG! Its called a mounting block for a reson

  • Pretty horse :)

  • ahahaha moi aussi au début sans banc ctait n'importe quoi la façon dont j'embarquais on s'améliore avec le temps

  • Thts dangerouse.i don't use a mounting block but I also dont get on like that .its bad to keep ur foot in like that and just bounce up and down.the horse might not like u just bouncing like that and could take off.if u don't know how to get on(because u could barley pull urself up) u should have someone help u.

  • haha, this reminds me of the time I fell off for the first time and tried getting back up from the ground.... yeah, I couldn't do it, so off to the fence it was, lol. :D

  • I actually prefer to mount from the ground, it feels safer to me, but my barn always insists we use mounting blocks to save the horses' backs.

  • yup...thats me

  • Wasn't that bad! I have got on much worse than this! I fell over when I got on once lol

  • haha xx awww x i cant do it like tht looool x He didnt seem to mind tht much x

    :)

  • fail...work out more so your leg gets uesed to moveing like that so it dose not look odd.

  • At least she sat down gracefully! No idea why she is getting so much criticism, A for effort! It's generally easier if you stand with your back facing the horse's head slightly. :)

  • atleast u got on!! i'm 5'3 riding a 16h horse... yeah not happening XD i could never get on from the ground lol

  • At least you managed to get on!! I would have no chance getting on my 16'3 lad from the ground - not at my age and certainly not with my lack of bendability lol. Some people on here just like to cause a fuss over nothing - horse was fine, you were fine, you had a laugh about it, went back to mounting from a block - no harm done. Let everyone else get over it lol

  • This is really no big deal. Everyone has to start somewhere. That will not hurt the horse if it happens every now and then. I sometimes use a mounting block, however I think it is a good idea to learn how to mount from the ground as well. Mostly it is about technique, and that takes practice and some patience. On a scale of "Bad things that happen to horses" This is really nothing, however it could cause the horse to start moving during the mounting procedure if it always happened like this.

  • i have mounted a horse so many times but i have mever done it like that (lol)

  • if you creat a vidéo,like:about ride a horse don't do the vidéo when you ride a first time a horse!

  • @MissPerrrfectionista

    seriously! lool

  • I always thought it was proper for English riders to use a mounting block. I guess because that's what I've always seen them do. I'm a western rider myself, so I have always mounted from the ground

  • @97clochette Calm down love, the horse is totally chilled and how is it for babies to use a mounting block? Pippa Funnell uses one! Mary king uses one! Ellen Whitaker uses one! You're obviously a 12 year old little shit- and learn to spell as well.

  • @97clochette Mounting blocks are by far /not/ for babies. Just because they make things easier doesn't mean they are for babies. You are probably like what… 4? Adults use freaking mounting blocks, professionals do to. How you mount shouldn't matter as long as it doesn't risk injuring the horse. Calm down.

  • That video sucks and u got on the houres u should take it off YouTube

  • Dizz nutsz

  • Stop on about d horses back its called Not how to get a horse

  • Als je je paard van pijn weg ziet draaien,, stop er dan mee!! Sukkeld

  • Kudos to the four-legged saint!

  • Why weren't you using a mounting block? That's really stressful on her back.

    Plus you're riding english, you're supposed to use one(;

At least get a leg up!

  • @lexiieconroy english riding does not say "you must use a mounting block". horses of any discipline can benefit from its use. And certainly one time getting on a horse from the ground is not going to cause long-term problem.

  • If you have trouble getting on use a block or lengthen the stirrups.

If you horse walks around while you try to mount, shorten the inside rein so he is just walking circles around you :)

  • That poor horses back!!! OMGOSH....

  • Im not sure how it would mess up the horses back? But I wish my barrel horse was that mellow when I got on!

  • even once!

  • i have a hard time getting on my horse, and shes only like 14-15 hands.

  • Aww, sweet horse :) She's so peaceful

  • you can't get on a horse like that!!!!!! it can seriously mess up their back!!! you gotta be careful!!!! poor horse!

  • @OMGitsme2233 Only if you do it ALL the time. Which clearly, they probably do.. Because if they had a mounting block they wouldn't have this problem :P

  • @OMGitsme2233 well if u read the description or the tittle u would know that she isn't going tot do it again.

  • @3000horsecrazy We have a moutning block. But it wasn't outside at the time this video was taken. People, read the description!

  • if you take vaulting lessons the conditioning you do to get on a moving horse makes it super easy to get on a standing still horse :) Plus it tottaly improves your seat :)

  • Great horse he's a keeper, you need to improve your strength and fitness. You need to work on both legs and arms.

  • hehe did you stretch your stirrups out?

  • @cocomango5189 Yes, that was the longest it would go, I should add that the saddle was a school saddle

  • You pulling on the horses back like that can seriously mess up there back :/

  • Poor Horse.

  • Sucks that you got some criticism for this. Basically as long as this isn't happening every single time (obviously not since you said you haven't done it since) and the horse is fit enough with no injuries/health issues etc this is fine. The horse didn't seem to mind at all and you made it eventually. :) Reminds me of me with my boy, he's just over 15hh but I'm only 5'3", I've been working on eventually going from the ground but right now it's mounting block, fence, bank etc - whatever's handy!

  • yea you made it!

  • It's good to mount your horse from both sides from time to time.

  • Corny

  • that horse is beautiful.what language is that women speaking

  • Hahaha!

  • Lol!! That horse just looks Cool!! =D

  • I also think its hard to get on a horse o_o

  • hehe, something that wasn't a problem when I was 15, but the older you get the more.... comfortable you get, so for the past 10 years or so, I've used a chair or whatever, coz I simply cannot be bothered with the struggle of it anymore. ;)

  • poor horse

  • Stunning Horse !! :P x

  • this is why i LOVE short horses... lately ive been riding a 14.2 aqh stallion... hes so cute!

  • The horse is an angel, just standing there, but i recommend all riders to use something to stand on, every time you climb your horse, then you don't need to put all your body weight in one stirrup, and thereby not burdening the horse's back more than necessary. Sorry for not knowing the english horse expressions, well done, btw (-: .

  • At least you got up! The horse is an angel. :-)

  • poor horse :'D

Why you don't use a block or let you help? The horse I ride is as large as this one, and I don't need a block. :'D

  • Haha that's just like me, 155 cms, trying to get on this 180 cms tall horse that lives in the stables i go to xD i always have my weird ways to get on that horse, especially if I dont have a stool :D

  • Times like this I was always glad to be almost 6' tall. It helps. I've never used a block to mount a horse, even riding bareback. Props for continuing to try until you got up, and that horse was an absolute doll.

  • I love how you guys switch between French and English xD

  • i think this happens to eveyone once in a while lol, for me it happens every time i get on to a hores with out a mounting block even the tiniest of ponies ! i have very weak legs :)

  • this is HOW TO GET ON A HORSE -.-

  • @haaniM91 no.... it is not

  • well done for your first time! You did REALLY well!!!

  • my horse is bigger and it's no problem for me to get on him

but i know its not easy

  • I love how people watch these videos and commenting thinking they are experts. lol Everyone deals and works with their horse differently, so shut up!

  • hahaha! i was like, it looks alot easier than it truly is! i totally agree! i can tell by your face!

  • Parle vou France?

  • Ca ces tres drole

  • You're right. That horse has a lovely nature.

  • ok to all you people saying its dangerous to do this you need to stop. it hurts them over time. and say u were somewhere where there is no mounting block? u need to mount from the ground . she might be at a place with mounting blocks but you have to practice and know how to properly mount from the ground.

  • You shouldnt get on a horse from the floor, it pulls their back. I always either get on from the floor but someone holds the other stirrup tight, use a mounting block or get a leg up:)

  • That's why you use a step stool

It also hurt the horses back less

  • Será ''Por qué alguna gente NO debe montar a caballo''

  • ur thumbs in the way stupid! and p.s thats how your supposed to get on a horse. your just being a lazy rider.......Idiot

  • That horse is sooo well behaved he doesn't even try to move, untill one rein is tighter than the other! Mine would be off like a rocket if I left her! xxx

  • 8 - ukłony . xD

    5 - śmiech . xD

    kto z polski - łapa w górę! . ^ ^

  • lol! the horse is like *sigh* why me?

  • this youmg lady would have been in a load of trouble with a horse not so docile

  • The only thin wrong with how this girl got on her horse was that the horse refused to stand still.

  • @visvita11 no, the horse was moving because she wouldnt just get on, it took her like 5 minutes. you dont put ur foot in the stirrup and just stand there, thats a good way to get drug. if your gonna get on, get on.

  • It's always amazing how loving, helpful and patient horses are...may this horse be an example to all riders...!!!

  • ; expected her to fall on her ass. im di

  • Uhmm.. It's called a MOUNTING BLOCK, Ever heard of one???

    Lmao

I've been a barrel racer since i was 5, I know how hard it is to get on a tall horse when your short. (no offense if your NOT short, and the horse is just SUPER tall)

I give you credit for Attempting to do it, and YAY for you FINALLY getting on the damn horse!! :]

  • Das arme Pferd und sein armer Rücken!! schon mal was von Hocker gehört? Du erzeugst da so nen Druck!!

  • Lol I dont really see why all dislikes this video 0.0 Its funny, entertaining, you actually learn from her mistakes. And the horse is awesomely cute 0.0

  • haha your lucky the horse was a little patient with u!!

  • Yall Stop Judging I havent mounted a horse for two years and since im short and my Beauty was tall even with a mounting block i needed help!

  • nie wsiadamy tak , bo konikowi polamiemy przednio noge ;].

  • Yes there is something wrong with that I have 13 horses and lived with them all my life

  • theres nothing wrong with that... :L

  • That horse is beautiful!!

  • Love how you look so tired once you actually gte on, lol'd so hard.

The horse is just standing there like "Yeah, this happens a lot. Oh wait, this is my best side."

  • @SkateboardIssie It is tiring lol. I went to a horse camp over the summer and just getting on the horse was hard .Even if you have a step stoll.

  • iwie schlecht :D

  • thats how u get on a horse tho :L

  • Great job! I love mounting them, but when I went to camp they made us use blocks because it hurts the horses sides when you push.

  • Gorgeous horse : )

  • That was ten times better than my attempt at mounting my cousin's 14.3 hh horse a couple months ago. And the sad part is I'm 5'4! xD

  • i never use a block of brick and i never did

  • xd Even when someones mounting a horse every Youtuber feels the need to critque them!

  • nice =) i cant mount without a mounting block or a leg up, nice attempt

  • @1956tlm good for you, not everyone has been riding as 3 year old

i feel a little sorry for the horse

  • When I was that young, I could mount my horse (tall-American Saddlebred) from the ground, BAREBACK. Now at age 55 I could mount that horse with English or Western Saddle in one motion--none of that hopping around. I've ridden since I was 3.

  • wow, the horse was mighty good for it's first time! :)

  • you SHOULDN'T mount that way. If you do it to much it can damage a horses back...im not referring to you...just so you know, you should always get on using a mounting block...even if you can get on from the ground! Good Luck with Riding!!

  • @BreyerProductions123 That is such BS. It absolutely does NOT damage a horse's back. How do you think people mounted for hundreds of years? I've NEVER used a mounting block. Ever. What are you gonna do when you're out riding and you have to get off? What, are you gonna carry a mounting block with you wherever you go? Get your facts straight before you go a'preaching.

  • @AlexandriaPerry I wasnt trying to be mean... m not saying you did anything wrong and i think it can hurt a horse's back after a WHILE!please dont get mad at me....i honestly didn't say it to intetionally hurt your feelings...sure we all have our goofy moments but.....im really sorry...

  • @BreyerProductions123 Yes But You Have To Remember If Your Out On A Trail Ride And There Is Nothing To Mount Off How Are You To Get Back On The Horse?

  • @Crumpsen well yes i know that I'm just talking about doing like 24/7...i shouldn't have said what i said...i didn't mean to start a squabble...sorry everyone

  • @BreyerProductions123 Well yes, I agree with you how overtime in can hurt, the horses back, but in a situation like for instance you are out in the bush and you, have to get off and back on, then you should mount like that.

  • @Crumpsen I completely agree with you :) thats all I'm trying to say is that it MAY affect a horse after a while!!

  • Its good to use a mounting block, its better for horse's backs.

  • why do't you lower the styrups to get on then when your on, shorten them? it what i have to do!

  • oli vaikeeta et huhhu ö.ö

  • It's so easy though! Sure it takes a while to learn, but if you take a few hops back so you're facing the horse's rump, take two big hops forward and around and THEN try and swing yourself up, it's much easier. The way you did it you were facing your horse the whole time, and you didn't give yourself enough leverage. I'd encourage you to try again - it's very useful to know how to mount from the ground.

  • cute. Beautiful horse. Quarter? Selle Francias? Thoroughbred?

  • just saying dont grab onto the tree of the saddle because it will break your saddle but cute horse

  • the horse's back is gonna get hurt if you keep doing that...

  • french?

  • @lollyluvr oui

  • ProofMelody1 I'd like a lesson of you haha my riding school don't teach this

  • lol.... Need a little more strength in your legs? :)

  • omygod so stupid, it's SO bad for the horse's back!

  • @Annettt1990 N'importe quoi. Tout le monde doit savoir monter a partir du sol. Vous pensez franchement que dans les clubs, on s'embête a prendre des montoirs ??!!

  • @Annettt1990 As long as you get your foot into the stirrup firmly before swinging yourself up, you can balance yourself so you can land very lightly on the horse's back. The actual mounting puts strain on the saddle, not the horse.

  • the first time i tried mounting from the ground, i struggled. But in the end, I learned having a 'spring in your step' quite literally helps... :)

  • Pauvre cheval..

  • I may have done this a time or two, but I eventually figured it out hehe. With my breed of horses it is slightly frowned upon if you use a mounting block to get on your horse so I never use one.

  • western sadle you dont need a black or stairs

  • is it French you talk?

  • Its a good thing that you have a calm horse, some horses that I have ridden would have taken off if you had tried that!

  • Your lucky....

    I can do that....

But i always fall over:P xx
