All this 2.2 vs 2.3 can go out the window. It's a competition of the two phones, as is. Using your logic, they should have the same processor and screen, etc. Samsung won (not by much, imo), LG did good and both are good phones.

Good job man. I am a Chinese guy so if you can speak a bit slower it would be perfect. Galaxy s 2 seems a lot better but I would rather choose Optimus 2x cause it is lot cheaper in Hong kong.

The optimus is just great and tegra 2 is amazing but why the hell only 512 mb ram. Why not 1 gb. It is a great phonw but i'd go with samsung s2 1gb ram and 1.2 ghz is pretty good and gameloft started to make games for it so galaxy s2 it is.

As you said, it is pointless to test these phones against each other. Wait till the Optimus 2X gets 2.3 Gingerbread, clock it at 1,2 Ghz,1 GB of RAM and than re-run the test. :) and the most important thing is by technically AMOLED screen life is very less then LCD Screen

Galaxy S ll is great, but right now, i'd go with the with Lg Optimus 2x. Why, the speed differences are not that much to be a deal breaker. They are both powerhouse smart phones, 1.2mp front cam on the Lg is still great. I will save the extra $200 or more for couple of 6 packs and a few lap dances :P

I'm surprised that no one's talking about flash performance, which Optimus 2x blow Galaxy S out of the water with 50%+ of performance. Since Flash is one of the most taxing process for android, I think that's more important than quadrant. And with 2.3 patch it should get some performance boost.

Don't buy LG x2! I got one and it's full of bugs. LG promised when they released the x2 that it would get gingerbread 2.3 update. It's soon September and still nothing. LG doesn't care about it's customers.

The Lg 2x has the most potential. The Cortex A9 is the same CPU but the GPU tegra 2 is considerably higher. With a slightly overclocked rom the superiority of LG would be very clear.

@ShikeoFujiwara NVIDIA does a very good job in marketing... But the Tegra2 is slower than the Mali400 GPU in many ways. If the Mail400 S2 wasn't framecapped at 60Hz it would blow the Tegra2 out of water in many benchmarks.

And Gingerbread won't help in terms of jerkyness :D

Yeah, the Galaxy S II has 2.3 Android, while the Optimus 2X runs at 2.2 Froyo... Also, the S II has 1,2 Ghz, while the Optimus 2X runs at 1,0 Ghz at the moment, so it is pointless to test these phones against each other. Wait till the Optimus 2X gets 2.3 Gingerbread, clock it at 1,2 Ghz, and than re-run the test. :)

@kris9670 sgs2 had check boxes & doesnt rerap because its GPU rendered browser cant render real times as a CPU rendered browser, another reason why it has presized zoom in's is because it basically turns the web page into a temporary image file until it needs to be rendered like the iphone4 when you zoom in the words seem to pixelate until you let go. its really unfair to have a cpu vs gpu browser compete but he can have a 3rd party browser installed & see a real competition between the hardware

And for the benchmarks, The 2.3 has ext4 kernel compared to ext3 on O2x which means that when the Gingerbread update rolls out, we'll much much better results on the benchmark that is if LG doesnt roll out an incomplete firmware like the one right now. And comparing them is a whole different issue. So maybe just wait for the update?

Although S2 beats the 2X in terms of gaming. The Quadrant says it all. While 2X achieves 40fps average on Quadrant and S2 60fps solid nearly (58-65).
