He is god awfull with Link, That eventmatch against dark link is simply sad. And it was only on easy(!?) this may sound like mindless bragging but i took all of the event matches on hard the firt time through. no prob mate.

The Dark Link Short Hops at 1:29 ensisting that shorthops still exist in Brawl. There are also leads to believe that L-canceling and wavedashing are still possible in Brawl

Well... now that Brawl is out in USA, you could have just checked, but yeah, there is shorthopping. It's actually far easier than in Melee. As for L cancels and wavedashing, no, due to the fact that R/L dodging is now stationary, you cannot perform them.

L Cancelling exists, it has another name, but is is even in the Dojo under the Techniques section on How To Play. It does say in there that as midair moves are quicker it is a lot less important.

you dont unlock, they're already there. go to solo stuff, stadium, and there should be mulltiman, event, home run, and if you beat sse, then boss battles.

There are 41 events under the single-player version, and 21 events under the two-player version. The single and two-player versions have different events.

its because its the newcomers that u don't unlock. there is no wolf toon link lucario rob and some others.
