@zfarre there is a weapon called Chicken Knife i think that requires you to run from 254 battles or something to power it up, so he just spreads the running.

Thanks for the reply, Googled it and the chicken knife gets more powerful every time you run from battles. In the end it gets even more powerful than Ragnarok according to this site.

I got Emission/Flamethrower from Prototype a few minutes ago, and it took a while. You can't get it from !Control, so I just had to wait, Healing Staff and Phoenix Downs in hand.

Oh God, I hate those goddamn ROCKETS! I once had a really annoying situation with them. It went somewhat like this: The rockets had killed the rest of my team and Bartz was the only one alive. Then he gets confused. The only attack the rockets did then was the attack that cuts your HP by 50%. Bartz had only 1 HP left, so the attack did 0 damage to him. So in the end, Bartz was standing there confused, and the rockets just kept attacking me. In the end, I had to reset the game.

I personally find hat having Lenna being a ranger, and giving her Nature (or whatever the thing is that calls animals. birdies yay!) I wish I could give at least 2 abilities to my people. I'd give Lenna Animals and White. Another good idea is Lenna as White Mage, with the Animal Ability. Then Bartz as a GeoMancer with Learning. I have him as a knight right now though so I can get double handed

The Japanese is 火炎放射 (kaen housha), which is literally flame emission. But the Japanese word for flamethrower is 火炎放射器 (kaen housha ki - "flame emission device"), and this spell is clearly a reference to flamethrowers. So I agree that flamethrower is a better name, and one of the few examples of FFVII's translation staff being on the ball.

I noticed how you talked about prototype and even say he is a great way to get ap and exp. Well in all honestly he is but there is a so much easyer way and faster and hell it earns you gil to :P . On the islands above where u get the airship you will find groups of darkflame which after killing earns you a nice 873 gil 378 exp and 3 ap and you can kill the whole group with one water scroll. You can kill 2 groups of theses in the time it takes to kill one prototype and they spawnmore. enjoy

Man, you where so lucky killing the cannon so quickly, I'm never fast enough (and I don't stock thunder scrolls that early, though I do now) and gets a Surge Cannon shot or two on me.

That attack is seriously powerful, and sets HP drain too...

I had a plastic mask that fit over your nose and mouth. Rubber on the edges to make it airtight with your face. Also, a tube which probably attached to an oxygen hose.

I made the top of the tube into a foil bowl, and VOILA! A mask that gets you high! :P

Sol Cannon was a nightmare for me because of the aging status..I had never run across anything like that in my experience with RPGs to that point, so it was really disheartening to see my characters gradually fade away, eventually becoming completely ineffective attackers..of course, I did eventually beat it, but not nearly as efficiently as HC did.

!Terrain reminds me of a certain Moogle we'll be seeing fairly soon..

I had no ideas about the Prototypes either..learning all kinds of things!

this game is more about tactics than levels. The only thing your level changes is HP/MP and the effectiveness of some status spells/ lvX spells

Not really, the level is computed into everything you do, from attacking to defending.

I saw an algorythm FAQ somewhere, and I saw just how much of a difference a single level or even a stat point can make in battle.

I remember doing some job level grinding before going to this spot. I had everyone master at least one job before coming here. I had Bartz master Red Mage, which took forever, and while he was mastering that job, everyone else mastered 2 jobs and were about half way through mastering another...but man, after mastering Red Mage, I couldn't let go of the ability "Red 2x" throughout the rest of the game with Bartz.

I'm pretty sure that Faris' attack didn't free the Whirl Demon from control because he was inflicted with the stop status and yet even though Bartz was controlling it, he wasn't stopped so he was still able to use the Whirl Demon's abilities.

I wonder why they change up the effect of Matra Magic in different final fantasy games, well more so than other spells. It varies between brining enemies down to one hp, switching their Hp and Mp, and being a non elemental attack. Half the time it looks like missiles o.O

I use a standard SNES controller with a Super Smart Joy USB adapter that I imported from Japan. IIRC, I didn't need a driver.

"Aging" is a permanent status that gradually reduces your stats over time, but wears off after the battle ends. Since battles never really last long enough for me to care about it, so I didn't bother explaining it.

They're a guaranteed encounter in that region. I like them for grinding ABP better than Skull Eaters, because I die less, I get more experience, and win guaranteed Dark Matters.

You can get the Rocket Blue Magic from the rocket launchers. The attack that causes confusion is Rocket Fist.
