Anyone with any sense would know not to even make that statement. No one wants to be told that people don't "understand" their identity especially when we have a legacy of ignorance concerning race and racial mixing in this country. She should have left the sentence out altogether. Often people mention "melting pot" and "colourblind" as trigger words for "ignore your race and assimilate to "dominate" culture." Just stop it. Why must stupidity continue endlessly?

Question...is there any situation where outrage over something racist occurring is acceptable to White people? From slurs, to disrespectful analysis like hers in the video, to employment issues, police issues, financial issues, education issues, historical legacy of pain, violence, and murder due to race are all things minorities are told to "get over." Is there any time where outrage, even if short-lived is acceptable? I have like a decade of studying psych and yet have no answer to this one.

Most Latinos have a huge proportion of Aboriginal American in their ancestry, which is bloodline that arrived from Asia during the last Ice Age. That is scientific fact, not opinion. I personally know several Aboriginal Canadians who look very Asian.
Her comment was clumsy, but I think she was pointing towards what I just said, rather than something nefarious.

"Latinos" are probably the most diverse ethnic group on the face of the planet. Depending on their unique family background, some have strong African (not in Mexico, granted) or European features, and many look very Aboriginal American. Because of the Asian (Siberian) origin of Aboriginals, there ARE some Asiatic facial features in a minority of Latinos. It's not a bad thing.
Many Eastern-Europeans get similarly hyper-defensive if their Asiatic features are pointed-out!

99.99% of humans share the same genetic make up therefore originating from the earliest ancestors. If it weren't that way, we all would not different races of human but different "species" of human. Some with one eye, purple skin ect ect...
The change of skin and main features of different races happen over a long period of time from being exposed to various climates, environments, and foods.

Race and ethnicity have only developed in the roughly 70,000 years since some of our ancestors left Africa. That's not a vast number of generations, which is why we are so similar to each other no matter where on earth our ancestors have more recently lived.
It's the genetic argument for egalitarianism.
