Blues dancing is sex with clothes on, I'm so tired of hearing this "sensual vs. sexual" concept. I'm not saying that you should "creep out your follow," but to call Blues dancing anything other then a 4 minute flirt session is a blatant lie.

@brooklynsweb lol. It's not sex with clothes on. If that were the case, I'd be bisexual. So yes, there is a difference between sexual and sensual. That's not to say there's no sexual element... I certainly feel a difference between when I'm dancing with a guy and a girl, a straight woman and a lesbian. I wouldn't do blues if I were forced to only dance with men. Still, physically speaking I can be just as close and intimate with a guy as with a girl in the dance.
I'm producing a music video for an indie band Midnight Radio that play a fantastic bluesy song "Drunk on Stars." We're filming a neo-noir silhouette dance scene that will be integrated with shadow puppets. We're on the hunt for a pair of classy but sensual blues dancers.... Would you be interested in being featured/do you know someone who would?
Auditions will be this Friday Apr 2nd in the evening, with the filming itself Tues 6th & Tues 13th.
Gah, always a post about blues being too sexy, sinful, etc. Can't people have a nice, connected, emotional dance without people assuming it to be about sex?? Anyway nice post; excellent dance, bravo :)
It always looks more "sexy" than it feels while you're dancing. I always thought I would feel awkward doing this, but (surprise surprise) I just got addicted to the playful connection.
@redtide08 I agree with you. it's one reason why I get frustrated with a lot of dance scenes because they view blues as a kind of "inappropriate" dance. It's one of the few dances where your connection with the music and the follow/lead are pretty much equally matched. Blues is just a fun dance based on connection. There doesn't need to be any sexual overtones for it to work.
