This mess ain't helpin to get saved. We can't be bringing foolishness into the church and think that it's okay and that God approves. I am only 19 but I am old school. Back in the day it didn't take all of that to get the youth save. We need to go back to what use to work back in the day. Holliness is still right!!! We shouldn't be imiatators or the world we should be orginal they should be wanted to follow us not us follow them.
Preach it! Just because somehow has a choir is or is directing a choir does not mean they are called to a preacher...PREACH IT! People ask what is wrong with Hip Hop in the Church....just like you can cast demons out with music you can help someone to be filled with one...((not everyone in the church is saved))...I am 19 yrs old and I can tell you that music is not saving or helping save anyone or keep them saved. I strongly agree with the Preacher! I've had young ppl that are not saved and who dnt know Jesus say, "Man I dnt need and wanna hear none of that "gospel rap" when I come to church! I use to love hip hop and r&b! but now that JESUS saved me and filled me with the Holy Ghost (not that long ago), i LOVE ONLY gospel music! Its some of the church thats compromising! I dont understand why people are trying to combine church with the world. Jesus came to to set things apart not combine. Read Luke 12:50-53. If these preachers would teach the word like its suppose to be teached then we would not have all this foolishness in the body of Christ! Just take a look at the gospel CD covers in Wal-Mart or Best Buy... they'll tell who REALLY gets the glory. These artists are self absorbed. Putting out a gospel album with themselves on the cover with a gold chain, and Oakland A's cap, a mean look, and fancy threads... disgusting. It goes to show us that we are in PERILOUS times right now, and it'll only get worse.

GOD saved my life 3 weeks ago,brother that was the best day of my life. I had those same problems b4. Once you get tired of the world,once you realized that the world doesn't love you or have anything to offer you other than death brother you will be running to the lord. the reason why theres rapping in church because the people who wanna sing gospel can't sing for nothin! so if they can rhyme they take that and use it BUT I HATED WHEN THEY GO TOO FAR WITH THAT SOMETIMES i listen to gospel songs i can't even tell it apart from a RnB song to a Gospel song they need to keep gospel apart from RnB beats because it sounds just like the devil's music than God's music.
I got saved in 2004, watched Truth behind Hip-Hop in 2005, and said no more music. It took me 3 weeks to listen to Christ and throw away music. I find myself sometimes listening to music I shouldn't and thats with the knowledge that the music is wrong. Its by the grace of God we can stand, confess our sins and move forward. The music still draws me, but in the name of Jesus we must be consistent and put him first. Please read Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16 God Bless you all!

I agree with ICU- I myself was a Hip Hop producer-I wouldnt make beats for girls to shake thier stuff with either- even when I wasn't saved I never liked commercial stuff- i always made beats to chill,relax + bring forth positivity- So when I got saved-I gave my music over to the Lord-I remember because He deleated my old music- so when I prayed and He moved me He created even better tracks- ones which I sing (not just rhyme)over- its meant to endorse Him- not replace
I used to listen to Christian(?) hip hop music, and Yahweh gave me a grave warning against it, and told me to tell it to the youth pastor i was going to then..

GOD is the Creator, He doesn't need to imitate to create a praise! He doesn't need to imitate to draw people to HIM! All we need to do (in order for folk to come to CHRIST) is do what JESUS said, "if I be lifted up, I'll draw all men unto me"! G.Craig Lewis' message changed my life. After seeing all his youtube videos I got the 5 part package and got saved. I'm currently growing and struggling a little in my walk with Christ. I will say that if I hadn't seen his dvds I might still be on my way to hell right now, but God saved me and pulled me out of the flames. Now I want to live holy for him so I can be worthy to enter heaven.

Hip hop was never truly positive, It was built during a troubled time by troubled people off the backs of ex drug dealers and mobsters wh turned thier blood money into record lables. After seeing hip hop growing into somthing marketable, they funded its growth with the intentions of making more money from the race of people that would take the scraps they were handing out. Just because the hip hop leaders are black dosn't mean that they are on our side.
If hip-hop was never truly positive, why did it unify people. I have seen the good that the positive aspects of hip-hop did. Instead of fighting, they decided to rap and dance in battle. They used it to replace the negativity out there. When messages could no longer reach people, hip-hop was used that did. Also, what is the deal with the "house n******" comment? People may use it for selfish gains...but not all people are like that.

The bible does say "JESUS came to free us FROM SIN!!!!!" 1 John does speak concerning the guilt of sin. Not guilt in terms of a conscience aspect, but guilt as it relates to the law(s) of God. In that context, the word does speak of sin and guilt.

Well mossboy, I think being blessed is in the eyes of the beholder. Some people have different views on what being blessed is. Also I want to speak about the whole God's judgement thing. Everything is in God's hands. We cannot decide whether a person is going to die or not. Only God judges the heart. We cannot do that. So, we should leave the judgement to God, not us. You would probably be surprised of who is in Heaven and who is not.

You know what, I'm just going to say this, because this discussion is really going nowhere. The music itself will not save, but the message behind the music will, that message, of course being the Gospel. If you are promoting the love of God and glorifying his name, it doesn't matter what style of music you use.
Lastly, WHY would you put using hip-hop in the same category as pornography, and drug use?
Hip hop promotes sin, pornography promotes sin, so does drug use. It's all sin! So, how can one be set apart & sanctified but not the other two? If you can have holy hip hop or holy gothic then what's wrong with holy porn? It doesn't make sense! None of this stuff is holy! But men feel they can take anything of the world and present it holy unto GOD but it's not going to work!!!
Please explain the existence of such Hiphop songs as "Self Destruction", "Erase Racism", "Where is the Love", "Get By", "Change The World" and many other similar songs that actually promote positive things like love, peace and equality. I'd love to hear how you can prove that such songs are also sinful and ungodly.
All songs aren't bad songs but normally a hip hop album MIGHT have 1 or 2 songs maximum that address social matters but does that excuse the other 13 songs on that album that glorify the things GOD hates? OF course NOT! GOD HATES SIN! And as a child of GOD I MUST HATE sin as well. Again, if a dope dealer makes millions selling drugs then buys food for the homeless does that excuse the sin he's committed? NO!!! One good deed or song doesn't erase the sin!
How about the hiphop artists that drop positive songs on the regular and avoid the negative topics? I mean, you must've heard about artists like Common, Public Enemy, Talib Kweli, etc. who are known for promoting positive things like love, justice and equality in most of their songs.
Common in his NEW song says 'we LUST after thick women'. Public enemy & T.K. prove my pt that artists that try promorting a positive message will be out the game or not on the forefront long. They might still make music but they aren't selling millions or in the spotlight long enuff. The rap game isn't built for a message of real change or deliverance, JESUS came to deliver!
Oh, and as for the Common bit, where exactly did you find that lyric? The closest thing I found is a bit from "The People". I'm not sure if he's really promoting it, sounds to me like he's sayin' it in a "matter of fact" type of way.
By the way, to be honest for a sec, I am little more of a "liberal" if you know what I mean. That means I think that all religions at it's core is good.

I don't recall the Bible telling us to persecute those of other faiths though. Back in the day it didn't take all of that to get the youth save. We need to go back to what use to work back in the day. Holliness is still right!!! I use to love hip hop and r&b! but now that JESUS saved me and filled me with the Holy Ghost (not that long ago), i LOVE ONLY gospel music! Its some of the church thats compromising! I got saved in 2004, watched Truth behind Hip-Hop in 2005, and said no more music. It took me 3 weeks to listen to Christ and throw away music. I find myself sometimes listening to music I shouldn't and thats with the knowledge that the music is wrong. Its by the grace of God we can stand, confess our sins and move forward. The music still draws me, but in the name of Jesus we must be consistent and put him first. Please read Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16 God Bless you all!

G.Craig Lewis' message changed my life. After seeing all his youtube videos I got the 5 part package and got saved. I'm currently growing and struggling a little in my walk with Christ. I will say that if I hadn't seen his dvds I might still be on my way to hell right now, but God saved me and pulled me out of the flames. Now I want to live holy for him so I can be worthy to enter heaven.

Hip hop was never truly positive, It was built during a troubled time by troubled people off the backs of ex drug dealers and mobsters wh turned thier blood money into record lables. After seeing hip hop growing into somthing marketable, they funded its growth with the intentions of making more money from the race of people that would take the scraps they were handing out. If hip-hop was never truly positive, why did it unify people. I have seen the good that the positive aspects of hip-hop did. Instead of fighting, they decided to rap and dance in battle. They used it to replace the negativity out there. When messages could no longer reach people, hip-hop was used that did. Also, what is the deal with the "house n******" comment? People may use it for selfish gains...but not all people are like that.

Well mossboy, I think being blessed is in the eyes of the beholder. Some people have different views on what being blessed is. Also I want to speak about the whole God's judgement thing. Everything is in God's hands. We cannot decide whether a person is going to die or not. Only God judges the heart. We cannot do that. So, we should leave the judgement to God, not us. You would probably be surprised of who is in Heaven and who is not.

The music itself will not save, but the message behind the music will, that message, of course being the Gospel. If you are promoting the love of God and glorifying his name, it doesn't matter what style of music you use.

All songs aren't bad songs but normally a hip hop album MIGHT have 1 or 2 songs maximum that address social matters but does that excuse the other 13 songs on that album that glorify the things GOD hates?
