  • Shite video hurts my eyes! good tune tho

  • first song played on CD101 :)

  • this song rocks

  • Still sounds fresh...the sign of a great song : )

How much of the nonsense bullshit of today, will we be listening to in 20 years?

    That's right, None.

  • the first song on cd 101!!

  • I saw them at Metro in Chicago when this song came out (is it really over 20 years ago?). What a great show by a great band. The place just rocked with that affirmative energy you get at a really great rock show. I remember they did a killer version of "Maggie May" as their encore. I hope they're doing well these days.

  • @tmws1

I saw that show @ Metro; didn't Big Head Todd and the Monsters open for them? Great show...

  • hello, what happened to what now? something happened to what now. I can not find it on youtube. it was one of my favorite songs in 91. great tune

  • This song and the album (Stuck Together With God's Glue) is some of the best rock and roll ever.

Even their next two albums (Bedlam A Go-Go/Alan, Elvis and Me) are terrific.

Another sad example of poor marketing, at least in the USA.

    These guys should be HUGE.

Tom Dunne is a stupendous vocalist.

  • jeevess youtube never fails to deliver the goods

    what a great songtune

used to love it on the radio

  • ... I remember buying this CD single from a now defunct (aren't they all?) record shop in Bletchley back when it was released....haven't heard it for the best part of 20 years, but that sounded just as great as I remember it. What a cracking slice of Indie Pop!....

  • Sound like The Gin Blossoms, which of course is not a bad thing.

  • great song, whats it about though?

  • It's about how 15 years later U2 passed this song off as 'Vertigo'.

  • They even ripped off the beach setting for the video.

  • Ah yes, saw them a load of times in the Bridge Hotel in Waterford in the late 80s, student nights forever ...

  • Like all great songs, sounds as good now as it did then.

  • Class song from a class band, saw them live many times in the 1980`s !! Foo Fighters should cover this, it`d suit them down to the ground !! ;-)

  • they did it on trampolines....lol. I know cos Eamonn Ryan (drummer) is my dad.

  • @MCRtheblakparade737 thats cool as shit

  • Great band and song - shit video.

Criminally underrated band - deserved stardom.

  • Was it 'Hello' or 'Parachute' that was kept off Number One in Ireland by Miley Byrne from Glenroe's song 'Byroad from Glenroe'? Strange times. Tom Dunne (the singer)is now a presenter on Newstalk radio in Ireland Monday-Friday 9-12 mornings. Good Show too.

  • Forgot how good this song is. Hadn't heard for years!! Top Vid!

  • sum fuckin song...parachute is class aswell!!

  • Jeez 18 years ago wow great song

  • when did this song come on the chart show .p.s i would also like to know the date thanks

  • Yes! Great song! The last few weeks I was planning to search for SH on the net but kept on forgetting... I even completely forgot about this song, "parachute" still gets rather a lot airplay!

I took the chance to put their profile on worldmusicdatabase too!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Great song.

  • A great Song ! From a great band ! Had the pleasure of seen them live many times ! Foo Fighters should cover this, bet it would be a worldwide hit !! ;-) . I cover this in my current band ;-)

  • I got this song from an irish penpal in the early 90's. There are some parts in the lyrics i can't understand. Could anyone be so gentle to send me the lyrics. i am a spanish native speaker.. hope you understand and be kind. i pretend to sing this song in my band... thanks in advance!. verucahate at hotmail dot com

  • Dose anyone else think that the chorus to this sounds a bit like Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit? This pre dates Teen Spirit by a year.

  • The subtitle for this song used to be "Petrol". Ray reckoned that the chorus sounded like the band "That Petrol Emotion", again pre-dating Teen Spirit.

  • I saw these guys at the Stone Pony, Asbury Park NJ in 1991. Great high energy show. Yes, the chorus does reminded us of Teen Spirit. Some undertones of That Petrol Emotion's 1990's Chemcrazy album. Lots of great tunes from the 1989 - 1993 period....

  • Saw this band afew times in the 90's,Class.

  • Great song. And I saw them at the Two Mile Inn supported by an attrotcious band. Can't think of their name...

Don't you think though; with bands like the pixies around, we cud have spent our time better? It was like 'great band given that they're Irish'

  • Have to agree with ya about the irish comment! I wasnt into the pixies tho,my mate was, i liked Depeche Mode, The Stone Roses, The Cure, & The Mission, alot more mainstream i know !!!

  • Indeed. Everyone at my school collected Depeche Mode 12 inches, about 50 of us went to see the Cure in Dublin (complete with back-combed hair, lipstick etc.), did cover versions of Roses songs.

Not that keen on the Mission though, have to admit. We all adored the Pixies though (as well as the Wedding Present and Ride)

  • I never got to see the Cure live :( Did see DM,and the Stone Roses, have to say i do have This Monkeys gone to heaven on my you tube favourites.Check out the Roses - Tears...amazing song!!

  • Don't forget that there is a Something Happens mailing list on YahooGroups.

  • great song, good beat for a heavy rock band

  • class band....great tune

  • Yep. That's all there is to say about that.

  • saw thes at Fleadh in london in the early 90's. Fantastic

  • Great Song.... Shame about the hair.

  • I saw this band at the bottomline in NYC for this tour, I was floored, they were great, tons of energy and what a great song!!!!they were loud as well great harmonies. I loved this band!

  • How the hell can you take Tim Dunne serious anymore after seeing him in this.

    Great Great Band

  • The 'B' side to this was a cover of the song 'Boys' which was a trashey pop song, but they made it listenable as a rock song - anyone got a copy?

  • Boys Boys Boys, you mean?

  • Saw these guys in 1985 in Hal'penny Bridge market in Dublin - covered REM, thought they were great.

  • I agree with you all stunning band, brings back memorys of getting ready to go out with my family on Fridays and Saturdays listening to this.

I couldn't agree more with sskubisnac about this site.

    10/10.

  • I loved the album this is from, again when I was doing my inter cert. Reminds me, I lent it to a guy in my class at school and never got it back! I should have known better, he was notorious for borrowing stuff and never giving it back, lol.

  • jesus, this bring me right back. Inter cert 1990. great stuff, great band.

  • Awesome I saw these guys live at the Bottom Line (a classic club in NYC that doesn't exist anymore). A great rock band without an ego that just rock the shit out of the house. I would love to fly to Ireland and see them do a revival show. And I'd like to take a hot latin lady to see it. Yeah, I'm 40 and old but this rock memory makes me feel good and young.

  • Saw these guys live at the University of Ulster at Coleraine in about 1988 ish, great band. The fact they're on here shows this is an awesome site

  • great to see this again!
