I'd rather be at a Jones show where Jones don't show up than at almost anybody else's show where they DO show up. At least I got a ticket with Jones' name on it.
@beautifulsarah100 I saw George a few years ago at a Carnegie Hall concert in New York and during one number said to my wife, "Isn't he great!" George's wife, Nancy, was sitting right in front of me--I hadn't noticed it at first--and turned around and smiled! George kindly autographed a photo and a quotation of his that I mailed to his home in Tennessee and sent it back to me. A class act!
What a funny song! At least he can laugh at himself for the reputation he created for himself. This was a brilliant song! What two wonderful legends! It will be a sad day when they pass on.
I have been a huge GJ fan all my life, and proudly I can say I was one of the people he DID NOT show up for back in 1983 LOL. I have seen him several times though and at the Memphis Fairgrounds in mid 90s,,he played to a crowd of about 300 and I sat dead center, front row and George sang directly at me most of the time he was onstage I guess he couldnt see past the front row LOL I thought I had died and gone to heaven. When he was done I stood up and screamed and he laughed his head off LOL
yeah im only 33 but ive locked myself up my living room and played possum to ole George many times . i grew up with the older country ,and frankly this new country makes me sick ,I'LL have a double shot of George Jones please...
@kentucky9000 Well, they didn't give us country music, but they sure have had a big part in keeping it going for the last 45 years or so. Too bad it's fell into the hands of guys and gals that can't even spell country music. Nashville is littered with people just looking to make money not country music!
@bambi3331 Hank who was in prison? Not Hank Williams. He was in jail a few times, but never prison. Haggard was in San Quinton for a couple of years for breaking in an all night diner and being an habitual or something.
no one knows this and no ones gonna believe me but my dad on the day of the concert he didnt show up my dad pulled next to the travel bus a jones walked out there drunk and my dad said youre sposed to be in there and goerge jones said youre spose to be watching and my dad the night george didnt show up it was becuz george didnt feel like it and cuz my dad and him were drinkin beer on the bus and thats a true fact
i love geroge jones he is the second greatest country son writer there ever was or will be and my second favorite singer i only put him #2 in both to the great hank williams and i mean hank sr. not jr. just for anyone that doesnt relise it
Thanks SO MUCH Meganolia! What a fitting Tribute to the GREATEST Country Singer that has ever, or will ever walk this Earth. I saw George perform here in Toronto CANADA last April 8th and he put on an INCREDIBLY GOOD Show. It was one of the best nights of my life! Oh yeah, this Video has a GREAT Slideshow with it too!
