Rosella doesn't think that she lives in a land of adventure? Well, gee! She's only nearly gotten eaten by a three-headed dragon, gone on a quest to defeat an evil fairy in order to save her father's life, and gotten shrunk by an evil wizard and put inside a bottle alongside her mother and brother!
But, I guess getting infected with Disney-Princess-itis can make ANYONE in ANY fantastical land want "more." It's a rather sad disease, really.
so great. I was only 6 years old when I played this game and had no understanding of the english. but nevertheless I really like the game. and now I playing it again. And more things make sense now, But I amazed how much I still know of how to solve the puzzles and such (its 16 years ago!!). For all who wants to play it. This game can be bought for 10 dollars/euro's on Steam.
@dreq934 I guess King's Quest 8 didn't help them much, either. Personally, I loved it (but not when there was a bug that made the game crash if you attempted to complete a certain sidequest), but I suppose that others didn't see it as a King's Quest game at all. Just because it had action and platforming, and was a 3D environment, doesn't mean it didn't have the same puzzles as the other games. And so what if the protagonist wasn't of the royal family? Neither was Graham, at first.
She's a really good singer. :) And the hand gestures are nice.
They look like they'd go well with a scary song too though. xD

To their credit, I think it was pretty daring for Sierra to even attempt a hand draw style of animation. Unfortunately, it didn't work too well in King's Quest VII for me. It did worked for Torin's Passage, though.

And it's an adventure game where you have to find things that might help you in the adventure. It was pretty fun. And what do you mean it's a rip of disney? lol

Yeah it was a fun game (and still is!) and I'm sure that when it originally came out I was too amazed by the fact that I was playing a game with 'ZOMG CARTOON ANIMATION' to care about the quality of animation but yeah I've always found it easier to sell people on giving KQVI a chance rather than this.
What I found amusing at the time was that I played it on the connection right after my twin got engaged. Yeah, Rosella. Can totally relate...when your twin gets hitched, the betting pool immediately starts on you. The other amusing part is that, in the expanded universe KQ material, Graham REALLY hated being a bachelor king and being on the "auction block" for every gold digger in range, waiting to wait for the right lady. Like father, like daughter...

Wow. I played this when I was...man, probably seven or eight? Maybe a little older...I remember the music most of all, and still do now, and some of the voices even. The King's Quest games are so memorable. I think I tried to memorize the music though because the computer I was using had problems with sound sometimes and I wasn't able to hear anything. My cousin (it was his computer) told me to remember the music in my head so I did. Hmm...maybe thanks to him I have a good music memory.
This game would deffinitely have to be one of my all time faves! i just love the story line and ever since i was a little kid i would always love playing it over and over! I wish they could make more kings quest games! They are tottally legendary, (maybe continue a story of Rosella!!!)
This game is rather underrated. For many of reasons, the biggest being that VI was such a hard act to follow.
It had it's charms and did tie up a loose end in Rosella. Not to mention finally giving Valanice an actual role to play in the story besides being a MacGuffin.
Nice to see somebody who gets it. Sad so many people like to be stupid about it and put it down just because it's a different style for the series (a little more cartoony but "cartoony" isn't necessarily a bad thing) and they don't get certain things

I forgot how bad the animation was in this game. When I was a kid I thought it was amazing just to have large, hand-drawn animation for the game's graphics. But now, it just looks terrible. I must have had a lot of fun with the gameplay itself, because I don't remember the characters looking that sloppy... (though I do remember some of the creepier faces and the humans only having FOUR FINGERS)
There is this dude named Connor that lives in Daventry. He's basically all powerful. And this bad dude named Lucretio, about 7 worlds from Daventry, has put a curse on the entire freakin' world and in Daventry, has turned all to stone, except Connor, because he's baaaad. So, Connor realizes, from a half-stoned wizard, that he must "find the remaining four pieces of the Mask of Eternity", which are "scattered
across the land" and "return the Mask to its most Holy Sanctuary. The mask, 'twould seem, has chosen" Connor. So, Connor must defeat all of these monsters that Lucretio has put out, as well as evil beings that are in other worlds, to get to the world at which he puts the mask pieces together. He also does some good deeds along the way. Of course, it is a happy ending. Lots of immersion, realism, and fighting for morals and peace.
Gosh I miss this game! But one question, are the sounds off or was that a problem with the original? I don't remember it's been a long time since I played.
It's fantastic to see anyway that it doesn't really matter. I just noticed that the mouths don't match what they were saying or thier actions. But it doesn't matter as it still was a great game.

Hmm, good question...if you're up for parser based games where you have to type commands, 4 and 3 are good (3 is insanely frustrating though as a warning), and both 5 and 6 are good icon based ones. 7 is also good, but I'd recommend some of the earlier ones first.
I agree with Zarla; if you don't mind parser-based games the earlier ones are really good. If not, my personal favourite is VI, and there are fan-made VGA releases of the first 3 KQ games.
Kings Quest VIII was without a doubt the death of the series. As for this game, it was a definite visual upgrade from V and VI but looking back at the cinematics now they just look awful from my point of view.
Oh it IS possible to play KQ 7 under Win XP - you need just change some data files and rename them (only one file if I recollect correctly) - dont knoe which one though^^° try google
Brings back memorys, I played a bit of Kings Quest VII but it didn't feel like the others, and the last game I had played was kings quest V so this felt like a completely different game. Can't say I was really interested in the game at the time but I'll have to give it another try.

This game would deffinitely have to be one of my all time faves! i just love the story line and ever since i was a little kid i would always love playing it over and over! I wish they could make more kings quest games! They are tottally legendary, (maybe continue a story of Rosella!!!)

This game is rather underrated. For many of reasons, the biggest being that VI was such a hard act to follow.
It had it's charms and did tie up a loose end in Rosella. Not to mention finally giving Valanice an actual role to play in the story besides being a MacGuffin.

Well, I hate to say it, but... I only wish they had continued the story in the world they had built for Alexander to be King... in "The Green Isles".
It could have been SOOO epic... if you controlled/led/helped:

Jollo?? :)
Pawn shop guy and some other awesome folks could have had cameos and helped Alex out too... especially like Beauty & Beast, hehehh

I've met so many people who have played at least one of the kings quests and want to play it again.

Nice to see somebody who gets it. Sad so many people like to be stupid about it and put it down just because it's a different style for the series (a little more cartoony but "cartoony" isn't necessarily a bad thing) and they don't get certain things

I forgot how bad the animation was in this game. When I was a kid I thought it was amazing just to have large, hand-drawn animation for the game's graphics. But now, it just looks terrible. I must have had a lot of fun with the gameplay itself, because I don't remember the characters looking that sloppy... (though I do remember some of the creepier faces and the humans only having FOUR FINGERS)

I still have this game on CD although it's very old. It's a really good game. It was fun playing as spunky Rosella and then prim and proper Valanice.

of course that is illigal downloading but its the easiest way to get it.
the file is a .nrg so u gotta use nero or isobuster to extract it then you can burn it to a cd and tada! you got ur game

It's fantastic to see anyway that it doesn't really matter. I just noticed that the mouths don't match what they were saying or thier actions. But it doesn't matter as it still was a great game.

Hmm, good question...if you're up for parser based games where you have to type commands, 4 and 3 are good (3 is insanely frustrating though as a warning), and both 5 and 6 are good icon based ones. 7 is also good, but I'd recommend some of the earlier ones first.

I agree with Zarla; if you don't mind parser-based games the earlier ones are really good. If not, my personal favourite is VI, and there are fan-made VGA releases of the first 3 KQ games.

Kings Quest VIII was without a doubt the death of the series. As for this game, it was a definite visual upgrade from V and VI but looking back at the cinematics now they just look awful from my point of view.

Oh it IS possible to play KQ 7 under Win XP - you need just change some data files and rename them (only one file if I recollect correctly) - dont knoe which one though^^° try google

Brings back memorys, I played a bit of Kings Quest VII but it didn't feel like the others, and the last game I had played was kings quest V so this felt like a completely different game. Can't say I was really interested in the game at the time but I'll have to give it another try.
