Well I remember this radio station back in 1967-68 in NYC, my sisters use to listen to it every friday, Sometime Symphony Sid's radio would go live from Certain clubs...Before Fania allstar...which I love too..

Nice, but I inherited (from my father) King Pleasure's '78' version which was distributed as part of an album set promotion by WBMS in Boston in 1952 or 1953. It still sounds great.

No, sorry for the misunderstanding. My father was a fan of Symphony Sid's radio show in Boston in the early '50's. The station, WBMS, distributed an album set as a promotion and one of the 78's is King Pleasure's "Jumpin with Symphony Sid," which in my opinion is the best version of the song.

"King Pleasure" was actually Clarence Beeks, a native Tenneseean who moved to NYC in the late-40's just as the bebop movement was taking off. Great vocalese stylist. He was friends with Sid in NYC.
