  • I wish there was video of this. It wasn't very often when Layne made an appearance during their hiatus.

  • 6:20 Aw Ya

  • hey dednyz, this is a TOOL song lol

  • wow this is going to be serious .. baaaaa baaaaa

  • I love this so much, that when I hear the song without layne,

My brain tells me it hears Layne.

Hahaha I imagine Layne's voice XD

  • Who the hell would leave early from a Tool concert before even performing? Shame shame shame!!!!!

  • Is there any video footage, or other songs from this date, or.. anything?

  • Comment removed

  • @Chesenips980 watch?v=mzQ3hOOcYfA Might not be the same date. But it's something.

  • counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of war drums

  • oh!i've been looking for a better audio version of this for forever!<3

  • brilliant voice Layne had , joining to the Maynard's. this is really the experience of having a lamborghini and a ferrarri in the same garage

  • Layne was here. Do your research idiots. Layne was here. He wore a wool ski mack here. You all wouldn't be saying that Layne wasn't in here if you saw a video of this instead of bootleg. If you really knew how Layne sounded, you can easily depict his voice out of here. He was a guest singer singing alongside Maynard here.

  • The dead legend: Layne Thomas Staley -The living legend: Maynard James Keenan.

  • why would jerry leave before tool even came on?

  • @10000diamondeyes because Jerry heard or knew Layne was there so he left. This was when Alice in Chains broke up for a short time so there was a whole lot of butt hurt going on back stage.

  • @EXPcustom haha gotcha. i would give a testacle to have been at this show.

  • @EXPcustom so was he very angry at layne because he couldnt tour with jerry?

  • @Raptorfy There were lots of things going on in the band, at the time Layne was burned out with AIC and they actually broke up for a short time in 94, he was doing stuff with Second Coming at this time as well. Combine that with drugs everyone in the band was doing there was just a whole lot of butthurt going on. If you read the interviews with Layne from this time you kind of get a picture of what was going on. Also a week later Layne bailed on the Metallica summer 94 tour.

  • @EXPcustom oh yeah and mad season right?

  • awesome

  • I really, really, REALLY hope none of the turds claiming " Layne isnt in this song " are not alice n chains fans.. Thats is CLEARLY Layne at 2:33 & 6:20..

come on people... that voice stands out!!

  • You hear Layne sing at 6:33, Although I'm not sure.

  • @LifeOfAnOutlaw

Yes , it's him . no doubt about it

  • R.I.P. Layne.... love always... Dona

  • pretty awesome

  • its a shame to hear ignorant cunts talking through a performance like this. I mean, wtf man, just shut up and enjoy the tunage and talk about shit later.

I went to see Pearl Jam last month and i had two guys in front of me that kept on shouting down each other's ears and i seriously wanted to punch em both and tell em to shut up! lol. Eventually i moved, but that's not the point. Who the fuck pays 40quid or whatever to see a great band then talk through it all?

    :P rant over

  • sheep sounds? oh thats funny lol. nice video!

  • This isn't Layne Staley it's Maynard and was done when he played in front of L Ron Hubbards cult of idiots.

  • @arizonabay07 Who is singing with Maynard on this song?

  • @EXPcustom i dunno..

  • @arizonabay07 Just so you know Maynard did the sheep sounds at almost every show in 94 before the song Opiate, this show was in Washington and it was well known and reported in the press that Layne was on stage with Tool for this song. Dont take my word for it just go ask on one of the Tool forums or search Youtube for Opiate 94 to hear Maynard making sheep sounds.

  • @EXPcustom Yeah, I know somebody that went the show, it's Layne.

  • @arizonabay07 No it's not...I've seen video of that show, there was no guest.

  • @MrCpdasmedag Umm...what?

  • Comment removed

  • @arizonabay07 Layne was there, and DID perform on this song.

  • could the bad performance be the result of a recording with a camcorder just guessing ive seem alice in chians and tool back in 93and 94 alice opened for OZZY they rule tool was at a small venue flaming lips got boo off the stage and tool threatend to not play other than that they were very good not the best ive heard but it was a awsome performance

  • it's awesome. just put it that way i would die if i got to see this. damn the 90s must have rocked.

  • Holy crap. One of my most memorable concerts ever (and I've been to hundreds) was Tool just 9 days before this show in Pontiac, MI. I wish Layne would've been at that one. What city is this one from?

  • It was at kitsap county fairgrounds, Bremerton, WA

  • @EXPcustom just down the road

  • Layne rules. RIP

  • I Love your Videos Thank you my Friend.

    We miss you Layne.

  • Two of my favorite singers of all time.

    Fuck yeah.

  • @CupcakeMouse same here, two of the greats

  • this must have been at the scientology show they did he made sheep noices the whlole time

  • found this from watching maynard performing them bones and man in a box with AIC.....I FUCKIN LOVE YOUTUBE

  • Amazing singers!!

  • oh my god... i fucking love this combination of singers!

  • i started cracking up on the sheep sounds, so un called for

  • okay, so layne only sings in the chorus basically. still pretty cool though. both maynard and layne rule

  • i wish there was a studio version featuring layne...

  • So who sang this on the Opiate Album? Marynard or Layne or both? someone please let me know! I should know this!!!

  • maynard

  • I'm sure Maynard did it on the album. Though it does sound like Maynard on this one, because Maynard does the whole..trailing off with the voice, when Layne's voice is more..growly, I guess.

  • Maynard

  • I like how Keenan or Staley says bah. That's in reference to his wool ski mask that he wore over his face.

  • dude u read wikipedia too much. maynard always does that at shows. every tool show i've been too he does that. its reference to everyone standing around on the grass like sheep.

  • I don't read wikipedia. Yes ok maybe your right. But you can't blame me for suggesting this since Layne was wearing a wool ski mask. Btw I never seen Tool in festival- they only kick major ass in small club venues.

  • i thumb you down because you say the ONLY kick ass in small venues...now they are the MOST EPIC LIVE BAND in small venues where their sound echoes (vw center manch/NH), but dude the tweeter??? i dno where your from but newhere this band plays is blessed, fact.

  • What i meant to say is that I'd rather see Tool in small venues. I have 2 times and the experience is better.

  • definately true the sound echoes and sorta creates like a whole more vivid kinda tone...really trippy and highly suggested to ne1 else, they kill indoor venues!

  • I read that one show they did was at a building owned by scientologists and Maynard did the baa like a sheep the whole time.

  • Who said anything about Alice in Chains? In the description it says Layne Staley with Maynard James Keenan.

  • I think cuestick1976 is referring to the pictures in the video and that they only show AIC-related stuff. Except the last one.

  • The torrent this was on had the covers so I put them in then I was only left with one or two Tool related pics in my folder and they did not make the cut. I was too lazy to go find more Tool pics LOL.

  • Haha ok :)

  • there is such a lac of layne interviews and information. i want to hear him talk about how he developed his voice and how quickly he progressed and if he ever took lessons of any sort. im jonesing!

  • He sung a lot at home and I don't hink he did have lessons

  • im jonesin 2!

  • This was when layne had the ski mask on while singing.

  • Was there video of this at one time? I

  • But you can definitely take credit for posting this up.

  • I cant take credit for the audio mix I was just going through my downloads and media files and found this.

  • Great video, TheMcFog is right, the audio is much better on this version than any other video of this on YouTube.

  • Whatever you did to the audio, it's definitely the best version of this I've heard. Well done.
