I dont find the killzone engine to look realistic. It has great graphics but they dont look realistic at all. The 2 best realistic looking graphical engines would have to be the cryteck engine(I think its called whatever cryteck uses for crysis) and the Havock engine capcom uses.
I would say killzone is the most cinematic by far. HOWEVER, as far as stark realism, just BASIC REALISTIC GRAPHICS, crysis 1 wins. it's more crisp, REAL, not so blurry and stupid looking. more contained. like real life.

Creating crazy graphics isn't hard, it's just over subdivision of the terrain and more particle effects on top of 1080p high resolution textures. I can do that but what's the point if so few people could play it, why buy a game you can't run?
Halo reach has better graphics than many people think. Look at the armor of an elite or vehicle. Even with the sniper, you can see every scratch and pattern without jagged edges and is very smooth. Beyond my expectation and really impressive.

Two words.... Project Offset. The game has now been cancled but do a bit of research on the Project Offset engine. Red 5 have decided to use the engine for FireFall, which I think is a great choice due to the massive open areas and squad based shooter style of game.

You can't compare Metro with screenies, there's just so many beautiful lighting and particle effects that make you go wow. KZ2 is a better game, but it loses in graphics with a slight margin. And note I didn't say that KZ2 graphics are unrealistic, I said they're not real as in they're fake. It's not real-time, environment always responds in the same way, physics are scripted and a lot of the graphics look like uber-enhanced PS2 stuff.
KZ2 isnt shit compared to Crysis. If KZ2 came out on PC, a low end 8800GPU could easily run it, the GPU's on todays Gaming PC's have more processing power than every single console COMBINED Literally! Of course Crysis dominates any title on the Consoles graphically. The new Direct X platform and the thousands of stream processors in our graphics cards are insanely capable. PS3 fan boys still brag about the Cell chip having multiple cores.. Our GPU's have Thousands and we have 2-4 of them at once
Well of course KZ2 would run on a 8800 since the game is nothing but a 640x360 scaled image with tons of blur over crappy textures filled with bloom. Oh yeah, did I mention scripted physics?
Crysis is at least 100% realtime and truly responds to the actions of the player.
Killzone 2 looks like shit, just look at a screenshot when they've removed the blur, grain and the "OMGLOOKSAWESOME"-filter.
Killzone 2 doesn't look good at all, and it's a console game, which means it has much worse graphics than any PC game released after 2006, since it can't even render in 1080p.
And Crysis isn't the best looking game, that is Metro 2033.

Two words.... Project Offset. The game has now been cancled but do a bit of research on the Project Offset engine. Red 5 have decided to use the engine for FireFall, which I think is a great choice due to the massive open areas and squad based shooter style of game.

@mendeskt2 Well, to be honest not really. I think killzone is fun, but I enjoy crysis more. Especially since I have the ability to create custom maps and content through the sandbox editor. It's all a matter of preference.

Crysis has good graphics but needs a hell of a lot of processing power to run that shit while Killzone 2 (To me) is impressive because it can be played on a console from 2006 and still looks freaking amazing.

Optical result is different than how good graphics really are. And this is the perfect example. Killzone is dead perfection. Crysis is damm awsome cause every single calculation is being done in the moment the game runs. Example of what i say? See crysis 2 everything is being destroyed and everything seems more lively. Still killzone has the best optical result of every other game but it doesn't have the best graphics. BC2 also is fucking great, but the optical result is common

You can't compare Metro with screenies, there's just so many beautiful lighting and particle effects that make you go wow. KZ2 is a better game, but it loses in graphics with a slight margin. And note I didn't say that KZ2 graphics are unrealistic, I said they're not real as in they're fake. It's not real-time, environment always responds in the same way, physics are scripted and a lot of the graphics look like uber-enhanced PS2 stuff.

KZ2 isnt shit compared to Crysis. If KZ2 came out on PC, a low end 8800GPU could easily run it, the GPU's on todays Gaming PC's have more processing power than every single console COMBINED Literally! Of course Crysis dominates any title on the Consoles graphically. The new Direct X platform and the thousands of stream processors in our graphics cards are insanely capable. PS3 fan boys still brag about the Cell chip having multiple cores.. Our GPU's have Thousands and we have 2-4 of them at once

Well of course KZ2 would run on a 8800 since the game is nothing but a 640x360 scaled image with tons of blur over crappy textures filled with bloom. Oh yeah, did I mention scripted physics?
Crysis is at least 100% realtime and truly responds to the actions of the player.

Killzone 2 looks like shit, just look at a screenshot when they've removed the blur, grain and the "OMGLOOKSAWESOME"-filter.
Killzone 2 doesn't look good at all, and it's a console game, which means it has much worse graphics than any PC game released after 2006, since it can't even render in 1080p.
And Crysis isn't the best looking game, that is Metro 2033.

When looking at muiltyplatform games the average person cant tell. $1500 is not worth this. Plus I am not aware of any good pc exclusives. World of warcraft is fucking gay. Cant campare this with uncharted 2 or gears of war 2. Pc gaming is a pain in the ass and sucks. Face your form of gaming is getting swalloed! Your post was bs.

killzone 2 best engine haha. killzone no doubt looks good, but it''s engine sucks, other than a few volumetric pativcle effects the engine just sucks. killzones propriatary engine doesn't even support real time refelctions. so it fails when compared to engine like cryengine, unigine, and unreal engine.
