im 20, and i fuckin hate almost all of this new shit that is coming out. it's a shame that we're even talkin about this while talkin about this classic song. ima stop talkin and listen to this :)
To be sincere I'm jealous of people who were like 17 or older during the 1990's. You guys are lucky man. You guys saw 2pac, Biggie Smalls, Nine, Smoothe Da Hustler, Showbiz & A.G., Big L, Big Pun, Nas, D.I.T.C, Pete Rock & C.L. Smoothe. I could never imagine this joint on T.V., or 2pac on T.V. or Big L, or Pun, or Nas, or Biggie. You people are soooo lucky.
you guys have made little wayne a phenomenon !!! cuz every time somebody posts up some some classic Hip HOP on youtube ,people start argueing about lil wayne in the comments box . check any real hip hop comment box . its allways the same argument ! Lil Wayne . I have'nt seen this much dick riden since back in the days wen every rapper was tryin to sound like NAS !!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess. I dont really care if my favorite artists succeeds or not. That doesnt put food on my sons plate either way, so who cares. I spent thousands on vinyl, tapes and cd;s for years. I'll take it how I can get it nowadays. Artists make their money doing shows anyway
It's easy to forget that songs from this era are 'Sample Based'. That means the music was literally done by some of the BEST musicians of the 20th Century. Now, dudes are using Motifs, Phantoms, VST Plug Ins and pre-programmed loops internal to the keyboards. There's just no comparison.
As for word play, I'll give dudes like Fabolous some points (he's good) but the overwhelming majority of dudes that are supposedly 'good' will NEVER get my attention rapping like that. Said it, meant it.
@MTXSHO9732vV8SHO And how important is to have your attention?LMAO I love sampling, but you're saying that creating for yourself is bad? I use DAW,VSTs n I sample also, what takes work in the way as well. I play guitar, bass, some keys and drums, I can sing and rap, I'm from Spain and fuckin poor. I hate n I love the streets. I've had my best and my worse there, but I had class problems, and heavy shit problems n I'm fucking tired of big mouths who think their attention is golden, what can u do?
@MilkoMany Listen smart ass. What I said was the MUSIC USED for the samples was performed by some of the BEST MUSICIANS of the 20th Century. Some untrained idiot ass on Fruity Loops is going to sound like SHIT by comparison for the most part.
You play instruments? Great! Get your fucking BARS UP then and GET GREAT at it! Then maybe someone will sample YOU! You think the musicians I'm talking about started off 'rich'?? LMAO! No, they just wanted to make music and they learned how to do it right!
@MTXSHO9732vV8SHO fair enough bitch. I hate the fuckin Fruity loops, but it's very easy to speak on your side, very, very easy...I TELL YA, what are you doing to keep da good shit alive, get trained and do it or try at least then you'll know how hard it is these days to make it, I live for this.

@MTXSHO9732vV8SHO Sorry, but a two year old child would speak/type better. I guess ya trying to say some shit but, homie, this is watchamacallit. What is it , a compu translation? I'm done with you. U got no wings en mi casa! you crackhead SonOfTheCableGuy...hey I tell ya, I mean it, your last post has shown you're retarded, Waldo. Let me call you Waldo, please. Waldo Faldo...and if you're going to get smart forget about moms and dads, not even say that this is the net...ur sooo gay
@bpap16 To be fair to Punnch08, he's coming from a place of a longtime hip hop head. He, like myself, are well over 30 (I was 17 when this song was released). Most of the kids coming up these days are into hip hop, but are not serious about it from my perspective. Either they won't pay attention to someone until after they die (Guru, J Dilla, Big L, 2Pac), or they will discover the older stuff by way of video games. That, on their behalf, reeks of insincerity and lack of respect. for hip hop.
@MyJunior1975 hey, I'm 32...let's think it ain't easy to be born in this fucked up era when everything's done. I wonder how many of you "golden era of hip hop" are doing significant shit to really support what you say every fucking day. Life is chaos and the shit you don't like today has been generated somehow by what you do like, forces are uncontrolable. But I'm spanish and white so I shoudn't speak either, should I?
@MilkoMany I never said that I didn't like stuff from today. I said that I question the sincerity of certain people that listen to golden age hip hop (Namely, suburban White kids and people under 30). I support what I say by supporting the artist, no listening to the album on YouTube, no downloading, no purchasing bootlegs- actually buying the finished product- my major bone of contention with the new generation of hip hop heads.
@thehumanshin Here's the problem with it. A lot of younger so-called hip hop heads are all on this mindset of supporting real hip hop- but their support is a little misguided, at best. They will complain about an artist not getting enough airplay, but will do the very things that stops them from getting said airplay. They will bitch about Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy being famous, but their fans made them famous by buying their albums.
@MyJunior1975 What artists are you talking about? Who is bootlegging and downloading holding back? The people who will sell sell.. Bieber, Lil Wayne and Soulja boy sell records because girls buy records, not guys.. Guys download and bootleg.
@thehumanshin I'm am not talking about any artists in particular- I'm saying that people that download and bootleg are hypocrites when it comes to supporting real hip hop. If they want to see their favorite artist succeed, then they should buy their albums.
@RydarGames The record company gets paid- not the artist. An artist never got paid from a music video. In the music business, they are seen as promotional tools for the album.
@MyJunior1975 Yep..I'm born and raised in SoCal, But if anyone doesn't think that NY ran hip hop and set the bar for today, then they're just in denial.... BRING BACK REAL HIP HOP!!!
@t2SiiCk Think about it...they will say that CD's and vinyl are expensive, but they are priced on average between 10-20 dollars- depending on what you purchase. How hard is it to go to the store and purchase a CD. When I was their age 20 years ago, that's what I did. I think they are more interested in video games than they are about music. Those games cost four times more than a CD, but they'll insist that CD's are expensive. WTF???
I was 16 in 93 too. Queens-Brooklyn wanderer. Manhattan was insane back then and it was mad fun to get lost and get high as fuck. The Island of Stat was puttin it down and the Bronx was hot as FUCK as always! Yo the 90's on the real for me in NY was story filled to say the least. Graffiti was dope and real heads were bombin'. 3 letter crews, big gangs formin and just crazy amounts of mischief for a young teen DFA everyday all day. TKW SPEAR ONE
@shrap393 i will always respect the game but i agree 100% with you. i cant believe the bullshit evolution of mainstream rap..LONG LIVE THE UNDERGROUND! hehe, saw Brand live in DC with my homie last summer :D
I say 199 - 1995. I used to have this video recorded on VHS. I remember getting detention in Middle School for asking a teacher can I get a soul clap.
0 dislikes,to date, now THAT'S what I'm talking 'bout!! This was the Jizoint back n' the day... this brings back so many memories back when rap was legitimate with soulful samples from the likes of Dizzy G. Anita B, Nat King Kole, Isaac H., etc. & '92, AH!!! What a year for the industry, hip hop was on the map & NaS with Illmatic 2 yrs. later...those where the times, with beats & lyrics for the minds. Time for a double-play, even triple up of this classic jam, and Down with today's "Rap"-spam!!
@Punnch08 why would you support wayne? you're telling me that you'd rather have me listen to that shit, driving down the street bumpin' that through my windows than real music? you don't want to share GOOD music to kids looking hard enough to find it? it sure isn't digging in a crate anymore.. but fuck, musics music. haha ignorance isn't bliss its humorous
@Punnch08 Not fair bro, I'm only 16 and I acknowledge that this is the best. Late 80's early 90's hip hop. Fuck all the new shit, no doubt. It's fake.
Yo im reading these comments and laughing... im damn near 30 and i love the 90's and late 80's hip hop and i like SUM of the new stuff... i seen some 1 say that u cant like this and like lil wayne... DONT GET ME WRONG... wayne be saying sum BULLSHIT but i did like the CARTER 2 THAT WAS HOTT.. and the carter 3... wayne has SUM hot mixtapes... but im a artist and producer soooo i must admit listening to the bullshit has me liking stuff i never have liked..
Dont You Hate The Fact That Your Young, And People That Are Older Act As If You Dont Appreciate Music Like This,
Im 18 I Still Listen To The Beatnuts, Smiff And Weston, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD And LLCoolJ
Mainly Because Im A BBOY, But Still. I Like This Music. But I Also Like Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Eminem, And All The Other Current Hip-Hop Artists. Dont Discriminate, By Age.
@robertkahlidbarber man, age discrimination is ok, i am 16 and i find soo many idiot wannabe true hip hop lovers claiming irrational things you can see we are ones of a few
@Punnch08 Why would the same people that listen to this also listen to Lil Wayne? You're clearly implying that Lil Wayne isn't good and that Showbiz and AG are, but you had to squeeze another insult in there, and that caused logical flaws in your comment. Thought I'd point that out because you were being a dick about you growing up in this era.
Also, understanding this isn't an age exclusive club of some sort, and surviving isn't an achievement in itself, so don't be proud of being old. :)
@greenpeacemyass totally agree m8... i am a oldie and remember the good old days but like you said about the age thing and too call out lil wayne was tacky.i think he feels like he came from that exclusuve real hip hop area that got something over the new school but hey its opinions
@trealism Well, it's a fact that Lil Wayne is hardly making hip hop.
What many would consider old school today was new school back then. I only say old school in a technical sense, because frankly I see it useless to put school behind new or old when it only means new or old.
But I get your point, it is about taste, only the taste is based on others taste, and controlling what people think is other people's taste is the fundament of pop, techno and neo rap.
@greenpeacemyass u make no sense and obviously don't even understand what i said and theres no point trying to get through to you.. so stop hating on me and my generation and be proud u coming up nowadays and add to your generation to make history and great memories of your own..
@greenpeacemyass exactly where was the insult? i said go listen to lil wayne (your god). you just took insult cause you're weak and insecure. now you can take insult..
I'm 39. I grew up listening to the Kinney K Wax Attack on WMNF, "Tampa Bay's CHOICE FM", before he joined Digital Underground. I remember hearing Showbiz and AG on his show one Saturday night, but I never figured out who it was until just this year when I discovered Showbiz and AG on Pandora. I kept hearing KRS dropping their name in his songs, but never heard it until I started using Pandora. The whole damned Runaway Slave album is so dope I've barely listened to anything else for a month now.
@Punnch08 hey hey hey my nigga i am 22....my bro ustu listen to his back then in highschool ny....along with a tribe called quest...pun das efex chief rocka.....epmd....and i still bump this in my car...
@Punnch08 I'm 14 but I'm not goin' to listen to this nowadays talentless rappers who are idols to kids my age...I'm for tha Wu-Tang,for tha Run DMC,for tha Public Enemy, for tha Big L,for tha 2Pac,for tha N.W.A.,for tha Big Daddy Kane, for tha Gangstarr, for tha Das EFX,and much much more old school rap and hip hop MCs and groups...DIE LIL' WAYNE,DIE SOULJA BOY!
@Punnch08 I got 5 and a half to catch up to 30, but never have followed these trash trends. Before I listened to hip hop, it was motown, bebop, soul and genres of that sort...

MyJunior1975 1 year ago 4
@MyJunior1975 hey, I'm 32...let's think it ain't easy to be born in this fucked up era when everything's done. I wonder how many of you "golden era of hip hop" are doing significant shit to really support what you say every fucking day. Life is chaos and the shit you don't like today has been generated somehow by what you do like, forces are uncontrolable. But I'm spanish and white so I shoudn't speak either, should I?
MilkoMany 1 year ago
@MilkoMany I never said that I didn't like stuff from today. I said that I question the sincerity of certain people that listen to golden age hip hop (Namely, suburban White kids and people under 30). I support what I say by supporting the artist, no listening to the album on YouTube, no downloading, no purchasing bootlegs- actually buying the finished product- my major bone of contention with the new generation of hip hop heads.
MyJunior1975 1 year ago 3
@MyJunior1975 Whatswrong with listening to an album on Youtube, downloading and bootlegs?
thehumanshin 1 year ago
@thehumanshin Here's the problem with it. A lot of younger so-called hip hop heads are all on this mindset of supporting real hip hop- but their support is a little misguided, at best. They will complain about an artist not getting enough airplay, but will do the very things that stops them from getting said airplay. They will bitch about Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy being famous, but their fans made them famous by buying their albums.
MyJunior1975 1 year ago 26
@MyJunior1975 What artists are you talking about? Who is bootlegging and downloading holding back? The people who will sell sell.. Bieber, Lil Wayne and Soulja boy sell records because girls buy records, not guys.. Guys download and bootleg.
thehumanshin 1 year ago
@thehumanshin I'm am not talking about any artists in particular- I'm saying that people that download and bootleg are hypocrites when it comes to supporting real hip hop. If they want to see their favorite artist succeed, then they should buy their albums.
MyJunior1975 1 year ago 3
@MyJunior1975 Music artist get paid from these videos on youtube. You guys didn't know that?
RydarGames 11 months ago
@RydarGames The record company gets paid- not the artist. An artist never got paid from a music video. In the music business, they are seen as promotional tools for the album.

t2SiiCk 7 months ago

Dont Discriminate, By Age.
robertkahlidbarber 1 year ago 3
@robertkahlidbarber I actually don't see how one can enjoy this music and Lil Wayne or Ludacris music. Really, they're the opposites.

@robertkahlidbarber man, age discrimination is ok, i am 16 and i find soo many idiot wannabe true hip hop lovers claiming irrational things you can see we are ones of a few
alejandrothefader 1 year ago
@Punnch08 Why would the same people that listen to this also listen to Lil Wayne? You're clearly implying that Lil Wayne isn't good and that Showbiz and AG are, but you had to squeeze another insult in there, and that caused logical flaws in your comment. Thought I'd point that out because you were being a dick about you growing up in this era.
Also, understanding this isn't an age exclusive club of some sort, and surviving isn't an achievement in itself, so don't be proud of being old. :)
greenpeacemyass 1 year ago 16
@greenpeacemyass totally agree m8... i am a oldie and remember the good old days but like you said about the age thing and too call out lil wayne was tacky.i think he feels like he came from that exclusuve real hip hop area that got something over the new school but hey its opinions
trealism 1 year ago
@trealism Well, it's a fact that Lil Wayne is hardly making hip hop.
What many would consider old school today was new school back then. I only say old school in a technical sense, because frankly I see it useless to put school behind new or old when it only means new or old.
But I get your point, it is about taste, only the taste is based on others taste, and controlling what people think is other people's taste is the fundament of pop, techno and neo rap.
The youth is easily persuaded.
greenpeacemyass 1 year ago
@greenpeacemyass u make no sense and obviously don't even understand what i said and theres no point trying to get through to you.. so stop hating on me and my generation and be proud u coming up nowadays and add to your generation to make history and great memories of your own..
Punnch08 11 months ago
@greenpeacemyass exactly where was the insult? i said go listen to lil wayne (your god). you just took insult cause you're weak and insecure. now you can take insult..
Punnch08 11 months ago
@Punnch08 I already pointed it out. Your implications were insulting.
