  • no this just happens when the umpire is not giving the calls lol

  • This is bush. These two should be ashamed. Umpires are human people. They make mistakes just like everyone else. They have bad games just like players. Cut us some slack eh. No need to intentionally throw a fastball at our faces. Respect the game of baseball.

  • he did that because the umpire was calling a bad game.

  • No shot. You can see the catcher duck his head down way lower than he would for just regularly blocking a ball, plus the ball started at eye level with the umpire. No curveball breaks that much..

  • @MattMosca17 ive had thousands of curve balls that broke atleast that much

  • dude you gut a glove USU IT

  • that was the pitchers mistake it was supposed to be a 12-6

  • Can't believe the guy in this clip is Dodgers' first round pick Ethan Martin. He claims it was an "accident" but I doubt it. The ump must have been fucking with him or some shit, because that's not Unintentional.

  • The ump shouldnt have been standing there.

  • I have been an umpire for over 20 years and have worked in several Minor League spring training sites as a contract umpire. I never saw anything like this before. I have had catchers talk back, but it was mostly courteously or a direct question, easily answered. Every catcher I have worked with from Little league to the minors, where always respectful.

  • Ive played baeball my whole life i know this story and i know that the catcher went out to the pitcher they talked it over and went on with it because the umpire was a dick

  • Comment removed

  • lmfao, that wasnt a duck, he was blocking the ball, this happens all the time, the catcher call a curve ball, the pitcher thinks he gave a 1 instead of a 2 and then catcher thinks its a curveball hat will drop to the dirt and it doesnt

  • @55chh Shut up, you've probably never played sports in your life. If anything, it was the catchers fault for not knowing the pitch

  • It was pretty obvious that he got crossed up and thought a curveball was coming.

  • They should have thrown his sorry ass out of the game.... this is what's wrong with sports these days... some candy ass HS player thinking he's gonna send a message to the ump...GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!

  • Obviously they got there signs mixed up. He didn't duck...

  • horrible baseball, you do that with a runner on second. Hope you enjoyed high school ball cuz thats as far as your getting

  • hmz i am very talented and open

  • i play baseball and that was gay

  • @rhinomoore33 Not really I saw nothing that showed anything homosexual or anything in the nature of loving the same sex in this video.

  • lol sensual and artistic!

  • this pitcher doesnt throw hard enough for this to matter.. the ump barely flinched... one of the pitchers on my team would have knocked him the fuck out!!!!

  • UMPIRES SUCK and get what they deserve!

  • its not smart to do when runners are on bases.

  • @tomstockton1979 no shit

  • no shit sherlock

  • With a man on second I don't understand why you would choose that time to do this, I think he was crossed up, maybe looking for a curve and got a fastball, looked like it was intentional but i don't know.

  • Good ole fashion baseball. Half of the umps today have there head up every star players ass they can't even see the game

  • you can't expect umpires to be as perfect as you..cut them some slack

  • hihi Cause life is a game...so let`s play it to the full

  • Hey umps that is what happens when you make bad calls, Loved it.

  • I must say, umpires hated me because I did that at least once a game after a blown call! Funniest damn thing you can do as a catcher!

  • the ump barely flinched

  • This is a high school field?!?! DAMN!

  • It looked intentional...And if it was intentional and it happened to me I would have dumped the catcher, pitcher and the coach. Thankfully I deal with coaches that are respectful to the umpires and would not tolerate such behavior

  • why would you do something like that...ja

  • This was the first lesson I was taught as a catcher. It was on my little league team when I was 9. My coach told me that if I was having issues with the ump, I just needed to "slip".. Works every time.

  • @fgray484 it doesn't work at all. If I was the plate umpire on this game my zone wouldve turned into a soup can for this team the rest of the way

  • i did that today, the umpire then proceeded to strike me out in three straight pitches the next two at bats. i'd say an average boosting game

  • RUNNER ON THIRD!

  • Lmao of the ump pisses me off in my double header for travel softball today...I'm doing that xD

  • Catcher doesn't know how to catch just duck.. lol

  • I wonder what that ump did to piss them kids off.

  • um no the pitcher and catcher were getting scouted by a college for a full ride and this umpire new about it and was making bad calls to see how good these kids were really are and the pitcher and catcher got together and said "hey lets show this umpire whats up" and after they investigated the kids didnt get thier scholarship they ended up playing at a low grade college severves them right mother fuckers take the bad calls wgas

  • That umpire looks angry!

  • I don't care how bad the ump's calls are, the catcher intentionally ducking so he can get hit in the face with the ball is unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • @Rawk4Life a umpire that wont call a strike when it is a strike is unsportsmanlike. its part of baseball that isnt used as much because everyone is so senstive now a days

  • i cant believe anyone thinks this wasnt intentional obviously it was. he leaves his glove up to try to trick the ump in to thinking he was trying to get it but he wasnt he went straight down he was just pissed and wanted to send the ump a message. being a catcher i get it but i dont think i would ever have the balls to do somehting like that

  • was this intentional??

  • SEC, huh? You must be pretty good. I'm from Ohio. Been umping 24 years. I've worked high school through D-1. Twice I've had 90+ fastballs come through clean. In both cases there were no previous issues and the catchers fell all over themselves apologizing, saying they were crossed up. Had there been earlier problems, I wouldn't have hesitated to start dumping people. As far as crowding a catcher, I can't recall ever receiving that complaint, nor have I ever been involved in umpire interference.

  • yeah this is intentional for sure we used to do that kinda stuff too if the ump sucked.. the catcher doesnt sell this one that well he bailed out too obviously you gotta set up way way outside and "not get the glove back in time..." by the way that is a nice shot IN THE FAAACCCEEEEE

  • Damn..got a bad 3rd strike call?! You're right catchers do this and I saw an ump actually smile and mouth "we're even" to a catcher in a AAA game (it was in Alabama I think)

  • The catcher should become a clergyman, that he may help the people have a better understanding of the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Duck.

  • i really dont think the catcher would let a past ball go with a runner on base ..... just to have one catch the ump in the mask

  • I'm a catcher and an umpire. I've heard about this happening so I've already got my response prepared. I call the coach out for a conference. Either he's ejected or the catcher's ejected... coach chooses. Plus that pitcher doesn't get another strike, regardless where the ball goes...and I tell the coach that so he gets to choose whether he wants to replace him or not. Coach is responsible for his players. Either he told the catcher to do it, or he didn't stop him. Pitcher agreed as well.

  • this was intentional

  • Trust me...that was very intentional. As a catcher....I can say, I have done this or let low bouncers get past to catch them in the chest. I have had a few umps who would interfer with me during a game or who were very inequitable with calls. This was a way to let them know that you know what's up. Sometimes, they would correct their behavior and sometimes they ended up getting knocked the fuck over when I went for a foul ball....especially those who really layed on top of me.

  • @MAOfights Tell you what, pal. Do that to me, not only would your ass be gone, but I would dump the pitcher and your head coach as well. Not only that, but for the rest of the season, any place you went that employed our association you'd get fucked until we decided you had enough.

  • @plateumpire29 Press down on my back like many have or hold my throwing arm...and I guarantee, I let my pitcher bean you right in the throat. I had some horrible home plate umps that deserved it. One of my pitchers was being called with a strike zone the size of a coffee can...the other team......the zone was massively huge. I frame pitches, but never move them......that is not fair and when the commissioner even notices...there are issues. Sorry if you think that is wrong of us to do, but....

  • @MAOfights One thing I don't ever do is touch my catcher. If I'm having an off day with my zone nobody knows it better than me. When I first get behind a catcher to look at a couple of warm-ups, I'll tell him to let me know if I'm crowding him. If I get a guy who's snatching pitches, I let him know right away to simply catch it and hold it.

  • @plateumpire29 I have had an umpire hold my throwing arm so firmly that I could not even throw to down to first base on a pick. Needless to say....he got punched directly after. I am not vindictive of umps....i have just had too many bad ones breathing down my neck. The good ones always got treated well by me.

  • @MAOfights Where are you from? I've never heard of such a thing.

  • @plateumpire29 Northwest Arkansas. Then again in the SEC.

  • @MAOfights i was seriously about to type that same thing

  • @MAOfights damn im a catcher too and I CANNOT stand that. Once there was a low bounce that landed on by his feet and I was trying to grab the ball and he kicked it!

  • @MAOfights I completely fucking agree with you. especially since you have the same view as him, and you can tell when they make a shitty call.

  • @MAOfights to do any of that intentionally is absolute bullsh*t. It doesn't matter if you think the umpire is not doing a good job pulling a stunt like that can get somebody seriously hurt.

  • @MAOfights thats why your a catcher... you like guys laying on top of you!!! 2nd base all the way!!!!

  • @MAOfights As an umpire if a catcher ever pulls that shit on me they get dumped so hard and so fast their head spins. If I get touched by the catcher or the ball the first words out of his mouth better be, "My bad sir, won't happen again." If a pitcher & catcher ever pulled the stunt in this video they'd get dumped along with the head coach. It'd be a long ass ride back home in the bus. Sometimes players forget who's wearing the blue and always gets the last word.

  • @MAOfights im guessing you got thrown out of a lot of games...

  • @awsomerey101 Only one, and that was for running over a catcher. Tournament rules were different than what we were used to.

  • @MAOfights So.. you're an internet gangster? P*ssy

  • fuck the empire!

  • I like how the announcer chuckled at the end of the video lol

  • Anyone watching the Pirates Braves ending tonight understand why this happens.

  • Yeah, because baseball is going to be so much better without umpires... Just let the pitcher and batter decide between themselves what the balls and strikes will be, I'm sure they'll agree. Seriously people, officials are part of every sport, and getting angry at them (I'm looking at you dj999dominator, seriously what are you, 12, with a comment like that?) isn't going to help your cause. Try putting a blue shirt on and doing it yourself if you think it's so easy.

  • @damninfieldfly - You make a good point except that the calls might actually be better without some of them. There needs to be accountability. Especially at amateur level you have a few umps here-and-there that are drunk with power. They refuse to accept that they are ever wrong and are thus umps that make the game not fun to play.

  • no catcher not even high school would intentionally let the ball pass with a runner in scoring position

  • Yeah, intentional. I understand competitive kids will do stuff like that (the pitcher and catcher's team was trailing 8-1 at that point), but wrong is wrong. Seriously, how many passed balls have you seen a catcher miss so badly as this one? He raised his glove, and then dropped down. It's an unnatural reaction to any sort of pitch that high. If he really thought he was getting a curve and got a fastball, his glove would've went up.

  • As a catcher you dont raise your glove up then commit to blocking it and bringing it down. It was deliberate.

Mlb teams should try this :P

  • that was so fucking cool...mlb players should punish umps like that too!! fuck them

  • lol thats no accident. when an umpire is making terrible calls I would always move a little and let the moron get hit with the ball. good for the catcher, the dumb schmuck of an umpire was probably making shit calls and he paid for it.

  • IN THA FACE!!!!!

  • The catcher should have cought the ball in the first place

  • Is that the umpire who ruined his perfect game?

  • good job by da catcher the ump probley made a bad call and the catcher was pissed so he ducked. it was no axident

  • Learn how to spell, capitalize letters and punctuate. Were you not paying attention in 2nd grade?

  • @K2BDX do you really have nothing better to do with your life than to pick on little kids (and as a matter of fact i never even went to 2nd grade) JERK!

  • eject the pitcher, catcher and head coach!!!!! bush league

  • was the umpire having a bad game?

  • The catcher was looking for the ball to drop. but the pitcher threw a fastball

  • I would have tossed the catcher for pulling shit like that. I can understand an 8 or 9 year old missing a ball like that but not a high school catcher. "Coach, you need a new catcher out here!!!...This one is history!"

  • Fuck umpires.

  • @dj999dominator amen to that

  • Thats one way to get back at the ump for shitty calls.

  • I think that hit the batter's helmet.

  • Ok guys, any halfway decent catcher who is expecting a curveball but gets a fastball won't just drop to their knees and look down. They obviously have to keep their eyes on the ball, and when they realize that it's not spinning like a curveball they will just catch it normally. It's not that hard to do. This catcher immediately drops his eyes from the ball, making me think that it's obviously intentional.

  • @RockNRoll21000 Really? I thought it was an accident.

  • haha

  • @lennex88 ru an idiot? do u not understand sarcasm?

  • The pitcher was supposed to throw something low

  • If it were so acceptable, then why did F1 and F2 lose their scholarships/invites to play for a college. And, the school was fined for $1000 in this video. So now these two jerks can play town league slow pitch softball. LMFAO

  • @bellietube Do you stalk these 2 guys....... And fyi you cant fine a school for that its a sport shit happens.

  • I am amazed at how many idiots on this post think this was OK to do. The stupid pitcher and everyone else involved in this incident could have been arrested and charged with assault.

  • @bellietube You are fucking stupid roflmoa!!!!

  • That catcher and pitcher would be gone along with the manager. All 3 would also be reported to their associations. Luckily the umpire wasn't injured.

  • That doesn't hurt at all he had a mask on

  • LOL not a good way to get an umpire to call more strikes for you! The best way is to actually throw strikes, that works all the time..........

  • hi

  • they mustve been having sum bad calls

  • The catcher was ready for a curveball, so when it didnt drop the ump got hit. The pitcher threw a fastball.

  • Have to say I did that once. Told catcher to fake stomach ache after the 3rd inning. Ump called a belt size strike-zone for the other team. Our strike-zone was from our ankle to our shoulder. So in the 5th I hummed it at his throat, catcher faked it and went down. Ump caught it in his chest protector. He kicked me out.

  • @justd3rd LOL! Dont be mad cause the other pitcher knows how to paint the corners and you dont.

  • @Sparkysocks Oh I could paint. Thats all I could do since all I had was a fast ball. I was a Greg Maddox fan growing up and place pitches on the corners. But it was awful that day, look like a walk-a-thon and a football score. think it ended 17-3.

  • @justd3rd Players like you are bad for the game. I hope when you get older and have kids that they don't play sports. You would be a lousy role model.

  • @bellietube I know I was 17 @ time. Im 34 now and think it was a bad choice. But at the time and with the treatment we would get, I let it get to me. See so many time my school was picked on for being not so good. i felt we were being used for batting practice. I coach now and still see the darkside of sports. Parents, coaches, players and umps all doing damage. I teach my kids to play hard to win, no one like a cheater or a whiner. But we all do dumb things in our youth.

  • The catcher could have been a little less obvious. If I'm the ump, I toss the pitcher and catcher. The catcher was definitely not crossed up, the pitch is chest high and he goes down to his knees. Even if it was a breaking ball it wouldn't have been in the dirt. Dirty/ballsy play, but the ump must have had it coming.

  • this is what happin when umpires call bad but unsportmans like

  • this is what happin when umpires call bad

  • why would the catcher duck???? He's supposed to catch it!!!!!!!

  • That was very dirty

  • no brownie points for the catcher!!!

  • cather was looking for a breaking ball and pitcher threw a fast ball

  • @JustScrap1996 was you there? no were you playing in the game? no...if so prove it...

  • @JustScrap1996 no way buddy

  • @Goodygoodskinz um look at what the catcher did, he got in good position to block a breaking ball

  • @JustScrap1996 he did that to make it look unintentional, they were trying to hit the umpire

  • @JustScrap1996 SO THE BALL COULD HIT THE UMPIRE. THEY WERE SENDING A MESSAGE BUT COVERING IT UP SO THEY HAD AN EXCUSE IF THE UMP THREW THEM OUT

  • @JustScrap1996 thats what he wants you to think.

  • @JustScrap1996 then why the fuck did he drop his glove and shove his head down?

  • @dukeboy3296 thats how you block a curve ball

  • @JustScrap1996 i understand that, but they have better communication then to let that happen

  • @JustScrap1996

No way, man. That was deliberate.

  • @JustScrap1996 If the catcher was looking for a breaking ball he would've lowered his glove and gotten set low and outside as the pitcher began his motion. Clearly the catcher left his glove up, blocking the ump's view, then as the ball got to him, he moved his glove intentionally and tried to sell that he was looking for a different pitch. This was a set play and as a player, i greatly applaud that if the ump deserves it

  • @JustScrap1996 Riiight, the catcher didnt even try to catch the ball he instantly shoved his glove and body down, I hope the kids and coaches got ejected from the rest of the games.

  • @JustScrap1996 0:14, he knew exactly what pitch it was. If he was looking for a breaking ball he wouldn't have had the glove up by his mask.

  • @JustScrap1996 You obviously don't know baseball

His glove was by his head and he stood up a little

The umpire then adjusted and then he ducked

    INTENTIONAL

  • @JustScrap1996 well, it did break at the end

  • sending him a message.classic.

  • why would he do that ?

  • hahahahaaha i think that was planned out

  • @theSKATINGbananas umpire ya dumbass

  • This was obviously on purpose. Ump must have made some bad calls earlier and they were teaching him a lesson.

  • @jweab Yeah but that's the worst possible thing to do when you aren't getting calls. You aren't gonna "teach him a lesson", you're gonna make the rest of the game hell. And I hope it was, they deserve it.

  • PWNed

  • one of the main jobs is to protect the ump what was he doing?

  • this was setup by BOTH the pitcher and catcher. i live in Cartersville (where this was at)

  • The umpire has a mask.

  • WHAAT A #WIMP.!!!!!!!!!

    Who Does Thaat !!!

  • he trolled that umpire soo hard

  • Sometimes you just gotta prove a point! lol

  • Sometimes you just gotta prove a point! lol

  • what a pussy

  • and thats y they wear funny masks

  • @keddiebros more like how did I go from watching sheep in a field to this?

  • i bet he was making shitty calls

  • Ive been trying to tell my catcher to make a sign for him to duck or move the glove so the ump will get hit then he will start calling strikes and wake up.

  • @MiciandLuke if your catcher keeps the ump safe (blocking with no one on base) he will give you calls.

  • Definitely intentional. Catcher drops into a blocking position almost immediately. If he thought it was a curve, he did a poor job of tracking it.

  • @mldewey I'm pretty sure everyone already knows it's intentional dude. Coaches gave them shit after though

  • It was 100% intentional, i myself am a catcher and if the umpire is calling a horrible game for us and is giving the other team the calls ( like in The Longest Yard) You intentionally call a fastball at the umpire and block like its a curve ball. i have done this multiple times and it works for the most part.

  • @MottledClown71 Another pillar of the community.

  • It looks like a diliberate act by the catcher. Should have been ejected. The act of the catcher could have been considered unsportsman and malicious.

  • And the pitcher and catcher both had their college scholarships pulled because of this. Head coach at the college said, "We don't need players like that."

  • @wsohl Obviously he thought the ball was going to break.

  • @broncobaseball15 - You do realize the pitcher and catcher both admited to throwing at the ump don't you?

  • @wsohl Ohh. my bad i Didn't read the Description... sorry!

  • @broncobaseball15 - Appology not necessary

  • @wsohl lol you idiot, the pitcher clearly crossed up the catcher, he was obviously expecting a breaking ball

  • @meflak - Moron, if you took the time to do a little research you would see that the pitcher and catcher admitted to setting this up. They admitted to throwing at the umpire. Even if they hadn't admited it, no catcher gets that crossed up, not even little leaguers.

  • @wsohl of course they wouldn't get crossed up in little league, they don't even throw curves. and i guess you've never seen a good breaking ball, rookie.

  • @meflak - If that had been a curve and he stayed up, fine. But it was a fast ball the catcher ducked out of the way of. You don't get crossed up on a fast ball, even if you think it is gonna be a curve.

And I have seen a wicked curve in HS and Jr College, I've called both and seen them fall off the table.

  • @wsohl that first comment actually made you sound so dumb. at that level a good pitcher will have a 15 mph difference on pitches, if you're expected a slower, sharp breaking pitch, you're gonna be way off guard when a speeding fast comes right at you

  • @meflak - Obviously you have no clue... As I'm sure you've been told before, it is better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. I refuse to have a battle of the wits with an unarmed man. Do some research on these two idiots and you'll see it was orchestrated.

  • Maybe this was intentional, but holy crap the catcher is a miserable actor. He could at least have his glove close to the ball
