It seems that u are correct pulseforce. It doesnt make sense that Simon insnt there but the texts say," you simon will always be remembered. " Great catch.

Little known facts:

1. The translators messed up the order of two of the translations. The WORST ending shows a gray picture with a DEAD Simon but only talks about you "DEFEATING DRACULA FOREVER", and the AVERAGE ending shows a happy day with Simon at the grave, but says that "SIMON DIED FROM THE WOUNDS AFTER DEFEATING DRACULA".

2. The BEST ending (fastest time) is the only REAL ending, part of the real storyline, and shows how Dracula rises from the grave in time for the next game.

@pulseforce #1 you say the grey ending is the "WORST" ending and that there's a DEAD Simon, but there is no image of him nor does it say he died. It does say he will be "remembered" for his bravery, but that doesn't meaning anything. He could have left Transylvania.

@ruofhatem Okay I'll try explaining it again: The gray screen you see, the one WITHOUT Simon (where he's DEAD), is the one that was SUPPOSED to have the text "SIMON DIED FROM HIS WOUNDS AFTER DEFEATING DRACULA". The colorful, cheery day with Simon ALIVE is the one that should have the text "SIMON DEFEATED DRACULA FOREVER". The translators mixed up the text for the endings, so the one where he is alive has text saying he died, and the one where he died says he lived. Do you understand now?

@pulseforce I understand, thanks for the explanation, but my initial point was that if you were to watch this for the first time without seeing the other endings or knowing the translators messed up, you can look at it from a different viewpoint, is that he could have just left Transylvania after he defeated Dracula thus Simon to the people will "always be remembered.."

@pulseforce It's a butchered translation. The curse could not have been lifted forever when Dracula comes back the curse will return. The Japanese endings are much better.

Instead of looking at Dracula's hand as a sign that Simon failed, perhaps it's better seen as an Easter Egg for the gamer. While endings 1 and 2 suggest that the series may be over, especially 1, only ending 3 hints at a continuation of the series. It's fairly obvious now, but for the time period, it could have been a pleasant surprise to the speedy gamer.

This ending actually looks like the best to me.

1:Some people think Simon died maybe he just left transylvania.

2:Drac doesnt seem to get out off the grave like in ending 3.

3:In ending 3 you hear nothing about the people being proud of you.

What makes this ending worst than the others?

1)This one is all greyish but no one tell you that Simon is death.You assume that because you don't see him in front the grave but still no proof.

2)The one with the clear sky seems like a joke because it tells you that you win but then Simon dies for the battle's wound.

3)In the dusk one Dracula comes out of his grave and that should be bad right?

The point is that Simon's Quest endings sucks and no matter which one you get, you always lose!

The quickest ending shows Dracula coming back right away, which is non-canon.

The second ending shows Simon dying, which is non-canon.

The "worst" ending shows neither, and already wins based on that alone.

Probably old customs. Putting a tombstone on top of a grave, according to folk tradition, prevents "revival" of the corpse. And the religious burial was probably not to honor the count, but to ensure that his evil will somehow be trapped by some greater power...

"game hours" I think he means, not actual hours. The game takes about 6 "real" hours to complete, average.

If I had to redo the text this is how it would go.

For Ending 1(The best ending) Use The day setting (the ending with the blue sky) with ending 3 text.

Ending2: (The good ending) Use the evening setting (the one with the red sky) with Ending 1 text. BTW Drac's hand will not come out in this one.

Ending 3 (The worst ending) Use the midnight

setting (The all grey one) with Ending 2 text.

Because you took longer you were weak and died from your wounds, thus Dracula recovers more quickly.

Beat it in under eight hours for the best ending. After 16 for the worst ending (or so they say).

Actully super castlevania 4 is soppose to be simon's next adventure after this one. he dies in this ending cause it sucks,but the third ending is when super castlevania 4 became the next in line adventure for simon.

ThirstForJake was right. Castlevania IV is supposed to be a remake of the original for the SNES. Konami US changed the story and the booklets to make it look like it was some sort of continuation of the series. Which it wasn't. Wikipedia for more info.

vampirekiller777000 Super CV 4 IS a remake of CV1. CV Chronicles is a remastered version of Rondo of Blood which is completely different frome CV1/CV4. ROB Had Richter and CV1/CV2/CV4 had Simon. Furthermore, the point of a remake is to do MAJOR CHANGES, and CV4 did have major changes to it from the original CV1. There is proofe that CV4 IS a remake of CV1. LOOK IT UP!

You're pretty much wrong; castlevania chronicles for the psx was a port of remake of castlevania 1 from the japan-only X68000. You're thinking of dracula x chronicles for psp, a remake of rondo of blood.

To answer your question, the faster you complete the game, the worse ending you get. Technically, it's supposed to be better, but if you complete it fast, simon dies and dracula comes back to life. This is actually the thrid ending, if you go REALLY slowly (I've gotten all three) and no, Simon didn't die in this one.

As far as I know, yes. With almost all certainty, we can assume that Simon has died in this battle. But as it shows, so is Dracula, and for good (in this game, that is.)
