  • Please re-do this Mustang with landing gear and you will find that your sales of this item will increase.

  • could I use a e-flite mlp4dsm transmitter?

  • hey is it really only 5 to 10 minutes of flight? cause everything else but that is perfect....

  • @codzomz 8-12 minutes is pretty typical.

  • @codzomz

Thats the real downside of this hobby. any rc airplane/heli you fly will typically only give you about 8 minutes of fly time. If you hate waiting around for charge times, get ready to stock up on batteries and chargers. And dont do what i did when i first got started by not reading the manual on storing batteries. Read up on how to store these batteries or you will have a ton of dead non rechargeable batteries lying around

  • @codzomz No, I fly 2200 3s 30c and 2650 3s 30c and I get about 8 min solid flight.

  • Landing gear is a drag!

  • Wow this new mustang blows away the original having a blast with it!

  • I had the Trojan to that was nice also

  • I had the ferocious Frankie years ago I am going to pick this one up just for sheer coolness factor and fly it in-between flying my carbon z

  • Why didn't they put landing gear on this plane?

  • will this work with the dx4e transmitter

  • @brettisawesome100 the Bind-N-Fly version would.

  • This seems to be a much improved version over their first attempt. The first version, Ferocious Frankie, (should have been named Feckless Frankie) was so underpowered that if you DIDN’T have a good breeze to launch it into, you couldn’t fly it. It was that underpowered. YouTube is full of videos of people trying to fly that thing, only to have it fizzle out and go on in. I have the Parkzone Corsair, and am very impressed with the speed and quality. From what I hear, the new Mustang is similar.

  • So, if I have the RTF supercub lp, can I use the controller for THIS airplane too buying the bind and fly?

  • @TheChickeneer If it's the new HBZ4700 Super Cub DSM RTF then yes. If it's the original Super Cub LP, no.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom Ok I have the newest one so I guess it would work. Would you reccomend this as a second airplane?

  • @TheChickeneer I would lean towards the T-28 a little more, simply because it's a bit tamer in the air.

  • @TheChickeneer is the lp your first plane?

  • @flyingfan11 Yes.

  • @TheChickeneer then DONT get the mustang it goes waaaaay too fast, i currently have the super cub too, i would personally recommend the parkzone t28 trojan, which is what i am upgrading to

  • dear santa....

  • l'ho acquistato, e' meraviglioso e molto divertente

  • I got the Parkzone P-51 Ultra Micro and that was my first 4 channel rc aircraft too, is this plane okay for me to fly. (By the way I have a field in my backyard about 5,000 square foot is that big enough for this Mustang.)

  • Hey I bought this yesterday and does the fact it has no rudder make a differance? Affect the preformance in any way?

  • @MrCoolvidsonline Yes and no. The nice thing about the P-51 is that it flies rather well as a 3-channel airplane and includes the parts needed to add the 4th rudder channel.

  • Thanks for posting this, very nice.

  • will be ordering this plane real soon,i just need to no wich one of the transmitters I should use i have a blade cx wich I no longer fly,its a sprctrum lp5dsm,i also just got a blade sr from u guys(luv it)as u know the sr has a 6 chanel radio, wich would you recomend or do I need to buy the ready to fly kit.

  • how long does the parkzone mustang's 11.1 v 1003 amp battery pack last

  • I've had mine for just over a year now and just love it! My house backs on to a playing field so i fly every day the weather allows and have had many hundreds of flights with my Mustang. I think as far as foamy warbirds are concerned this is the best and will never be bettered.

  • when i try doing a roll it ends up doing a messed up victory roll wut should i do to make it better?

  • @Dirttbike4life become a better pilot

  • @Dirttbike4life make your rudder or elevator more straight

  • Can u buddy box a DX5E????

  • @flyingchimp99 Yes you can.

  • Don't fly this if you have Parkinson.

  • thanks for answering all of my Q's. I just got this 2 days ago and crashed it but so worth the 5 min i got out of it. I was wondering how exactly do u put it on a higher rate than it comes stock without messing with the remote. The high rate which isnt enough for me and the manual doesnt explain very well.? I think its on the servo arm but not sure.

  • @Dirttbike4life If you look over the right stick there's a toggle switch on the top of the transmitter. This is the High/Low rate switch. If you're looking for more throw than this what you'll need to do is move the clevise closer to the control surface.

  • Can you use a small specktrum transmitter that comes with the champ with this.

  • could i put a 2200mah 3s battery into this plane and the charger that comes with it charge a 2200 battery? i bet the cog will be messed up. unless i have to cut foam.

  • @acesup26 You hit it, you'd have to chew up the foam inside the battery tunnel a lot to get that pack to fit and yes, it will skew the CG.

  • im looking to buy one after this little vid you guys posted im wanting one even more NICE product.

  • nice..can you do loops & barrel rolls on the low rate settings?

  • nice..can you do loops & barrel rolls on the low rate settings?

  • @Trooper101st You can, you just need a larger area to do it in since the loop will be larger.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom Thanks..i'll remember that :-)

  • @HorizonRCdotCom Ive bought one & love how it handles, can you tell me what the top speed of the gunfighter in stock form is?? thanks>

  • how are you ment to land ? does it have wheels?

  • @chrisroostersrule You belly-land it.

  • ohhh ok

  • @chrisroostersrule You belly land it, and belly landings are quite gentle on smooth short cut dense grass, or in tall field grasses too.

  • whats the top speed? and how is it faster than the t-28?? it's got a lower amperage esc.

  • @CoonBabble I don't know the exact top speed but it does have a smaller overall profile and less wind resistance which lends itself to a higher top-speed.

  • does it not come with landing gears

  • @biggie643 No, this plane does not have landing gear.

  • @HorizonRCdotCom can you buy landing gear for it

  • @biggie643 honestly, id like to see that option too

  • @CoonBabble ik that really stinks

  • I just bough this airplane like a month ago and after 8 flights the aielrons servos started making noise when move.....same with the parkzone corsair...any idea why?

  • @parkzonecorsairtips Many servos will "buzz" when holding neutral as there can be resistance somewhere in the assembly that the servo is fighting to bring the control back to neutral. Inspect everything for free range of motion.

  • Which plane do you think is better in quilty andd duribility the Parkzone P-51D BL BNF or the Trojan T-28D BNF? because i have read reviews and it says the trojan cant take landings and the front nose gear rips out and the P-51 rudder is extremely weak! Is that stuff true?

    Thank You

  • @Aero2121 I have never heard nor experienced either of those issues you describe. Both planes are really stout and I wouldn't worry about it myself.

  • I have this plane in BNF version with AR500 - I have about 30 flights so far on it. This plane is AWSOME! yes, it really is a must have.. I love it and it has become one of my fav planes now..

Thanks Park Zone / Horizon Hobby

  • could this one work: SV80 Long Lead 3-wire servo, or is there a better one for less than like 15 dollars?

  • Comment removed

  • what servos could i use for flaps?

  • when you buy the rudder servo does it come with the servo horn or the plastic piece for the push rod?

  • @Aero2121 Yes it does

  • I had the older version of this plane, and was dissapointed. It was so underpowered, if you didn't have a stiff breeze to hand launch ot into, you couldn't fly it. YouTube is full of videos of guys trying to fly that plane, and can't get it in the air. I sure hope this one is better powered.

  • @71259mark Yes, much more so. You have to remember that the original P-51 was the FIRST ParkZone warbird of any kind. They have learned a lot since and each generation of plane has gotten to be better and better. Now if you used a LiPo in the old P-51 it would be better. This version has no gear box, a brushless motor and includes a LiPo battery. Yes, in all ways it is an improvement over the original.

  • I am sold.lol

  • Great Plane

    Thank you Horizon Hobby

  • do you recommend putting packaging tape on the airplane to make sure that the foam does not chip and break as easily?

  • hi, for the optional rudder: can i use a hitec hs 81 for the rudder? or is it to heavy

  • I don't know what the weight of the ParkZone recommended servo is, sorry. It should work in all honesty but for the best fitting and recommended option I would go with the ParkZone servo myself.

  • Yeah baby mine should be winging it's way to me by mid next week ;-) about time yeah i know but we haven't had the weather still don't but what you going to do. 5*

  • thank you for getting back to me i think i have just decided to go with the micro and just use the remote i have since i wont fly the micro one as far. ill just wait for a bigger plane like a corsair or t-28 that comes with the dx5 later on if i get more into it. thanks again.

  • do you think 300 foot range is good and be able to add the fourth channel or get the rtf version and just keep it 3 channels untill i save up another 100 buck or however much a controller is?

  • You can eat up 300-feet rather quickly with a plane such as this. You can go with a DX5e which will get you full-range functionality. Just as a side-note the BNF still requires you to enable the rudder and install an extra servo. It simply comes with all the hardware to do this. Actually the RTF comes with the right hardware too, however the transmitter is limited to 4-channels.

  • i think im going to get the bind and fly version cause i tested my controllers range it it has 300 feet and that will be good for now untill i save the money for a new controller.

  • What radio specifically are you planning on using? You need to use a full-power transmitter for a plane such as this.

  • also i had a question that i think i will double check at the hobby store but the remote control that comes with the ember 2 states in the manuel that it is 4ch radio even though the plane is only 3 channel and on the back of the controller it says how you can bind with it. would this controller bind with this pane here? this way i have something to use until i get a nicer controller but still save 20 dollars and can add the rudder servo using this controller.

  • @sfchawks01

Buy a new radio before you get a new plane.

  • yea i meant this plane or the super cub and was saying that i you can get floats and bomb drop for the super cub. and the p51 is much faster. i must have been in a rush and didn't reread what i typed. sorry

  • ANSWER QUESTION PLZZ!!!

im deciding between getting this plane and the parkzone p51 mustang bl. i have expeirience in flying but i need to pick a second good plane. i know this u can get floats and bomb drop but its only 3 channel. the p51 goes much faster and is more agile and is 4ch. i could add wheels later for the p51 too. idk which one would i have more fun with? i have a big field to fly both on and i have a lake to fly them on. what do you think?????

  • I don't understand your question. You say you're getting either this or the P-51BL...well this is the P-51BL. I'm assuming you meant a different plane?

  • i fly some gliders. a 5 channel glider with retctable motor.

  • is it hard to fly?

  • I wouldn't recommend it for a first plane but if you have previous experience with other aircraft this is a very fun plane to fly.

  • Nice aircraft!! You guys should start shipping internationaly!!

  • Depending on where you are in the world you can order from HorizonUK or HorizonDE in the UK or Germany.

  • man idk if i should get this one or the micro. still deciding. what do you think?

  • Easy solution...

    One of each! :)

  • Go out and Spend $100 on a hobbyzone mini supercub....it is perfect...it is my first plane and i could do everything on my second flight...super durable....it is perfect...

  • he did not now that i wasnt actually doing good so in the end it did go down and hit quite hard. but lucky its harld broken and can fly again. So my question is ive got this plane now which i cant fly. what should i do????

  • I'm a begginer aged 13 and two years ago i had the hydrophoam which on fist flit i crashed so last year i had a pc simulater. And now this christmas i had the parkzone p51 mustang and today i tokk it out feeling confident after simulation trianning unwear about the speed of this plane so my father tossed is and thats when i realised the speed of it. i realy stuggled to keep it in the air by how fast it was going but i managed to keep it in the air for a full 30 seconds. my father thaught........

  • could any one please tell me why is it every time i hand launch the plane it always banks to the left nose dives in to the ground. starting to spend more money on spares

  • I've never noticed that characteristic with this plane. Make sure your launching the plane at full-throttle and at about a 15-20-degree angle and you should be good.

  • It might be because it is too windy i had the same problem with my firebird commander 2. so unless you have been flying in too much wind i have no idea.

  • ok i flew it and crashed :( it was in four bits ! and the spinner was in 32 pieces !!! i think i lost connection but because of the easy repair foam and some tooth picks. i will try again tomorrow : )

  • i got one of these today and it looks really cool can't wait to fly it

  • just got anew mustang bl (bnf) when i hand launch the plane. it always goes into anose dive and crash. so could any one please help me with this as i have'nt had it in the air yet i am using a dx5e

  • ...I am getting one of these! I have spent about 60 hours on a sim(I cannot say enough about how great a sim is!!!)after busting up a couple of planes 'trying to learn' several years ago. The sim has 'fine tuned my brain and reactions' and now I am relaxed and ready to fly an RTF. I had a Cox gas CL p51 as a kid. So it will be kinda like old times only WAY better. I will be ordering this plane today after much reviewing...and a Radian Glider as well.

  • Thats my story almost exactly LOL

I got the PZ mustang a few years ago. First RC plane i had and fist time i went out with it all went well for 30 seconds. THEN crash and burn. I put the remains in the attic and forgot about it. I practised for only a few hours on a sim "FMS" and then set about repairing the battered mustang. Was a big repair job but alot of duck tape and NO spare parts i eventually got it ready.

It now looks like a Frankenstein Plane but its flies perfectly! i love it!!

  • When I started out, I knew its going to be expensive, either I'd buy a sim which cost me around 260 bucks, or buy something that I was going to crash many, many times from my inexperience. I went with the sim and spent around a hundred hours on it. I bought the Blade MSR, and the P51micro. 2 1/2 to 3 minutes on full with the P51... I have only had one minor accident with the P51 after at least 50 flights. Now I have e-flite's Apprentice and am very happy with that. The Sim was the best decision.

  • it almost looks to big for me to start

  • Comment removed

  • I got the micro p51 and everybody is yelling "no run time" The prop has high pitch mounted on a plane designed to fly fast. If you fly full throtle, 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, a good battery and full charge and throtle management I got 5 1/2 minutes on the stock battery. The Tenergy, Vampower, and Eflight flown the same way would not go past 3 min. I dont know will the Sukhoi motor do any better. I am very happy with the P51 and so do the guys at my club. It can be improved. Thanks for the products.

  • Start with the Cessna 210 from parkzone great micro and trainer..handles impact pretty well and is easy to fix when you beat it up

  • Im a RC heli pilot....I have a cx3 from eflite....I wanna buy a eletric plane to start....this one is a good option to start or should I get a cessna? cheers

  • i've had a super cub for the last year i fly that fine. so thinking about getting a mustang (bnf) is that a good choice or not ?

  • I would maybe go with the T-28 or Corsair first.

  • Whats with the nose cone on these. Everyone I talk to has the same problem with them blowing off?

  • Me to, minor changes are in progress but I have an easy fix. Two short peices of Scotch tape, one each side on the spinner separation line solves the problem

  • is it powered enough to add the weight of retracts?

  • What servo would you reccomend I get for the rudder? I have a 5e and want a rudder... Thanks!

  • any micro servo will work. They cost between 10 and 20 dollars at your LHS. I just got a mustang today actually. I purchased an eflite servo to use for the rudder. part number is - eflrs60

  • does the new T-28 trojan BNF come with a Lipo battery?

  • Yes, a 3S 1800mAh LiPo

  • Is that model good for learning aerobatics?

  • As long as you have learned the basics on something easier to fly first, such as the HobbyZone Super Cub would be a great starter, then maybe the T-28 Trojan and then this one.

  • You guys need to come out with a PNP version.

  • I agree with Trunks800, I have Futaba 2.4 radio and want this plane but which one do i buy? Can't bind spektrum rx to futaba tx so BNF out of the question and don't like the rtf 27meg radio! This loyalty to spektrum is not good.

  • Well, all I can say is that there are more coming in the BNF series (also PNP such as Trojan for you guys) In my opinion you need to take a short step back, go buy a DX6i and have the whole thing covered. Spektrum loyaly is great when you have one, Check the flying field, BNF is everywhere, indoors, ultra micro, Park, Club, living room, gymnasium, outdoors, the variety of receivers covers the entire specktrum of model aviation. Just get one.

  • But i can cover the entire "specktrum" of model aviation with my Futaba 2.4! I bought the RTF version and sold the stock tx & rx on ebay then installed my futaba, I now have great flying plane for less than the cost of a BNF or RTF.

  • i actually know a guy who has 5 trojans XD

he says he loves it that much.

  • how much time does the battery last with 3/4 or full throttle. i was flying my plane like 5 minutes and the motor stopped and i had no more battery. this was my first flight. still it was very fast and maneuverable.

  • It may take a charge cycle or two for the battery to reach it's full potential. Normally not though. Charge it again, you should get 8-12 minutes.

  • Does this version still come with the A or B flying modes to limit the control surface movement or is that just a feature of the old mustang.

  • The RTF Does, yes.

  • hi i was wondering if this would be a good transition plane. right now im flying a hobbyzone mini cub. i almost have it mastered but i wasnt sure if this would be to big of a jump in experience level, thanks.

  • I wouldn't immediately jump to this from the Mini Super Cub. Maybe after flying the regular Super Cub and then maybe a T-28.

  • Can the battery compartment be modified to accept the slightly larger, heavier (standard for the T-28 & Corsair) 18 to 2200 MAH Lipo pack. If so.. are the average flight times comparable to the other planes? Would the Mustang's CG be adversely affected by the heavier battery? Is the 18 Amp speed control adequate for the same 480 motor as used in the other planes, when they now use a 30 Amp? I ask this because I've had problems with my stock T-28 burning up 25 amp speed controls.

  • We haven't done it but it looks like you could. The problems comes in where you mention, the CG gets moved significantly. I don't know about the ESC question, I'll check with the ParkZone team.

  • Ok, here's the answer to your question:

No I would not use the 18 amp in the other PKZ planes. The prop is different and draws more current and that is why the T-28 and Corsair uses the 30 Amp and the P-51 uses the 18 amp.

  • The new ParkZone P-51 is awesome. I started out flying RC with the Apprentice 6-months and this Mustang even makes me look good. Horizons BNF approach fits right in with my own economics of scale buying plan -- Buying models that use my existing batteries, chargers, etc.

  • When will you guys come out with a PNP version? I have no need for the included Spectrum receiver since I use a Fatuba 2.4 G receiver.

  • My buddy Fausto was the second guy to fly it, and he got to land it too, in high wind. He said it was very stable at that slow speed too.

  • I had the honor of being the 1st non Horizon employee to fly this P-51. Waaaaay better than the old one. More stable than the T-28, faster than the Corsair. John Redman let me fly it at SEFF 2009. Getting one for sure!!!!

  • will the new mustang bnf work with the 2.4 ghz transmitter from the mcx?

  • No! You should absolutely not use the mCX transmitter with parkflyers. That transmitter has a lower power output, making it very easy to fly out of range and cause a catastrophic crash or fly-away.

  • what's the difference between the parkzone p-51 and the art-tech other than the art-tech comes with a 2.4 ghz radio, a scale 4 blade prop, a working rudder, and scale appearance landing gear and cost the same as the BNF

  • I am not familiar with Art-Tech so i don't know. I do know one thing to consider too is parts availability and performance. I have seen the ParkZone P-51 fly and it's absolutely amazing. It's fast, nimble, stable, everything you could want

  • yaeah but arttech isnt as good as this buisness.

  • the art-trch p51 is maller and not as good quality parts. Not to say its bad but PZ makes the best park flyer stuff

  • thanks for the reply. after i master my wild hawk and hobbyzone super cub i'm gonna get the p-51. the guys at my local hobby shop say the same thing about parkzone. i think that's one of a couple companys they deal with. good quality parts, they can order any thing i want from parkzone and the most important thing, i can see it before i take it home. thanks.

  • i thought i was just a new scheme i looked at it but it said 480 moter but then soon i found out it was brushless and spektrum equipted

  • It's an entirely new plane. While it has the same lines and dimensions as the original the construction is totally different.

  • Will it still have the X-Port for the Combat Module accessory?

  • I think the RTF would still be compatible with it but the BNF is not.

  • Thanks I think I'll go with the BNF since I have the DX6i radio. Plus it'll include all the hardware for adding the rudder servo. :)

  • put deans on your esc and on your batteries please!

  • why? I used to use deans but I can't fault these ec3 connectors swapped all my batteries and esc's to ec3's now, much easier to solder, easier to grip, no need to use shrink tube (which you tend to pull off the deans trying to unplug them).

  • Comment removed

  • does it have ailrons?

  • yes

  • i like that there making this plane in a bind and fly version for all of us dsm2 users. i can always use another battery and charger and i don't have to take out a receiver from another plane.

  • awesome, love all the vids you guys do , i started flying on an ember2 a few weeks ago i love this model, i am going to move up to the su26 when launched.

  • i wish it had landing gear

  • Buy a Trojan or Corsair! The Mustang has no gear for three reasons, flying off grass park fields, lighter weight (less drag) and LOOKS

  • i do own a corsair. i use the landing gear so i don't rip up my wings. I tried landing with out them and i tore up my wing. Now i use landing gear.

  • could you also send me the summer release memo? thank you!

  • hey if you find the email can you send me a pm too? I would like to also know whats coming in the summer.

I already knew something was coming because Dave Eicherist told me.

  • Also is it hard to bind the trasmitter, because my corsair has a dx5e with a ar500, and if i buy this bind and flyer version how do i keep binding the trasmitter to the 2 planes.

  • I believe on the DX5e you simply hold the trainer switch before and while you turn the radio on and it will enter into Bind Mode.

  • Im interested in buying this, and i have a dx5e which i use in another aircraft (corsair), if i buy the bind and flyer version do i simply have to use my dx5e on that, or will i need to keep binding it everytime i switch aircraft.

    great video

  • Correct, anytime you switch aircraft with the DX5e you'll need to re-bind the transmitter and receiver again.

  • Actually HHRC that is not exactly correct. The first time you fly the second model you will have to bind but once bound the two receivers will always respond to that transmitter. However there is no memory so if any controls are reversed from one model to the other you have to change those or.......

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice and yet another model i have got to have in my hanger :-) but wish they would give us a hint to what else is coming out this summer :-( still a great vid=5*

  • Oh you didn't get the release memo? Are you sure? I promise I thought about sending it to you ;)

  • Well i looked and never saw anything but you could always try sending it again :-) if not just send a PM that will do, lol

  • Darn the luck, I seem to have deleted that e-mail. Son of a gun...

  • lol never mind then it looks like i'll have to wait like everyone else :-(
