  • this reminds me of the rite of spring in the sacrifice-esq theme to it :)

  • @theviolinist47 Exactly what I thought!

  • Your editing ruined it.

  • Very Grahamesque. Love it!

  • BOOBIES!!

  • simply art

  • I just couldn't blink it was absolutely beautiful.

Despite all the criticism on the editing, I quite liked it. I wish I could see the entire performance as well though, is this free art or do I have to download some dvd?

Geniales.

  • Lots of boobs in the second mvmt... and lots and lots of ribs... but pretty sick all things considered. Pärt writes some damn fine music!

  • MMMM! Boobies!

  • Terrific combo of great video with superb music. Arvo Part one of today's greatest, no doubt !

  • Crap edit. If you want to make a movie do so. But do not edit against the music.

  • ESTONIA!

  • it's called Chicken Head's dance

  • Ohh great editing!!!! thanks

  • Impresionante. Gracias matut 86.

  • IF THE HEAVEN EXISTS THIS MUSIC COMES FROM THERE

  • An enthralling performance!

  • I cant find the relation of this with the work of Arvo Part.

    They are just moving around.

  • @FelipeValen Then your being is lacking! Refine your being! Renew! Awake!

  • Very fine work, not just the music -all we know about the greatness of Part-, but also dance, so abstract as demands a "tabula rasa"..., a kind of empty. Extremely beauty images and movements, with a deep sense of better contemporary taste and almost magic correspondence with sound.

    Thanks...!

  • ugh - why did u edit this horror movie flash-cut style? The dance should hold up on it's own w/ out forcing the song out w/ video editing no? I'd really love to see the actual performance...

  • it WOULD have held up on its own if the dancers would have danced perfectly together.

  • Absolute beauty, the female form brings about such grace and sets a mood of tranquillity

  • q maravillaa.....

  • silentium.... what happened to the silentium 001 video in youtub e??

  • Comment removed

  • Tabula Rasa. The full version is about 26 minutes long. It's on spotify

  • The female torso (not only the male) is so incredibly beautiful. It is so exhilarating to finally see it coming out from under wraps in great artistic performances like this one. I've always felt that a dancer's (or other athlete's) body should be proudly and joyously flaunted.

  • This is wonderful! Makes me miss modern dance.

  • ARVO PâRT is the best live composer!!

  • jajaja of course not, but he is great!

  • @arasso187 In fairness, it's difficult to compose when you're dead. Although it's always possible to decompose!

  • I think not.

  • Awesome!!! A great work from Robles! Sigue asi Miguel!!! (Part is also great!)

  • Genial

  • Everyone who comments on this sounds like theyre trying to prove that they are the smartest one. When you do that, you just sound dorky and condescending.

  • you are a hypocrite.

  • Comment removed

  • why the hell is this video all cut up?? it looks like crap.

modern dance really doesn't get it do they?

  • Then don't watch

  • What dazzling wit ps try not to strain your grey matter.

  • ESTONIA not ESTLAND...

  • From Estland, if you are a German ;)

  • yes, but You commented in english:D so from Estonia:D

  • No, he commented in English except for his use of the German word for Eesti Vabariik.

  • You sure about that? Arvo Part often composes for Latin text as with the Credo and the Stabat Mater. Estonian ( minu meelest) isn't "correct", any more than any saying Estland is incorrect; It's just a way to communicate.

  • Arvo Part-composer of this music is from Estland

  • ..beautful..

  • beautiful

  • In the darkness begins the light. Therefore, bold cascading movements would be more appropriate than synchronized. Perhaps the dancers, who must be excellent listeners by nature, heard cascades of power rather than goofy birds(thus, the lack of synchronization).

  • no their choreography is all to shit. It looks wrong. Shame cos otherwise it would have been really good.

  • zachwycające! PIĘKNO I DRAMATURGIA

  • Ah....this is not contemporary dance....it's neo classical....!!!

    But quite nice neo classical....

  • Oh, this is wonderful!

Dance and music perfectly fit together in imagery, dynamic and mood.

The aggressive "Ludus"-movement makes me strain completely, every time I listen to it and the "Silentium" relaxes everything again until the table is emptier than I wanted it ever to be...

  • Disturbing. Brilliant.

    Captured the essence. Full on.

  • Amazing!

  • O my god! how beautiful is the art...

  • my uncle's name is miguel robles

  • hermosa danza

  • The music is wonderful.

  • The best video presentation of dance I have ever seen. Beautiful use of the human form.

    Extremely poignant.

  • topless ballet?

  • stunning

  • This reminds me of my sisters school play when she was in ninth grade. The dance is uninspired and bland, overtly artistic, out of sync (could be the video.

It soesn't tell us any story, its just some imitations of birdes

Plus, the dancers look anorectic, I know we have some fucked up beuty ideals, but put som muscles and fat och those girls.

  • Don't be silly: if these girls were fat they wouldn't be able to move like that, and you wouldn't see them on a ballet stage. The reason you don't see many overweight dancers is that dancing keeps you fit!

  • Wow, that's a pretty insensitive thing to say.

The point is that the dancers have to be slim in order to dance, and that dance training keeps you slim.. You can't get your leg behind your head if you have chunky thighs and you can't bend yourself double if you have a chubby belly. To say that they should have more muscle and less fat is naive: these women are very strong already, and have a level of fitness appropriate to training and performing at this level.

  • The music is brilliant though. :)

  • Robles choreography seems innafective here, a disconnect between the dancers and the music. I wish Balanchine was still alive. The New York City Ballet would give this a tighter, more respectful interpretation. I think the music deserves better.

  • From Arvo Part I own TE Deum and the Passion of John. What else should I own. I love his sound. Traditional yet modern, and I am not the biggest "classical fan"

  • amazon have a good 'best of arvo part' cd that i'm just looking at - looks good. won't get to me in time for xmas though :-( otherwise, great pressie for someone!

  • You should definitely get the ECM recording of Alina/Spiegel im Spiegel, the Berliner Messe and any recording of the Kanon Pokajanen. All are excellent pieces, especially the Kanon Pokajanen.

  • arvo=100 millions rebirthes in front!!!

    the boy from outerspace.

  • This is beautiful!

  • Robles are one of the best (if not the best) argentinian choreographer. I´m feel lucky of see in person some of his works, including this marvelous piece of dance based on Arvo Part great music.

  • in lithuanian 'tobula rasa' means 'perfect dew' :)) but of course its not in lithuanian :(

  • 0:06 *

  • Stop at 0:06. That is just creepy. But the music is vry powerful, and great sounding.

  • This makes me want to call 911.

  • Very funny.

  • I love the choreography.

I think it makes the best use of

    video technology of any musical

dance piece I've seen outside of

    the Japanese tradition.

  • "nazicommunist music"... jajaja.. my god... guess there's no need to spend time thinking an answer

  • @matut86

Yes, but you could at least think about writing correctly (i.e. 'truelly')

  • The coreography instead is not too bad.

  • and who are you?

  • I think you need to see a doctor.. the sooner the better

  • Well, it's your opinion. It's worth what it's worth. Which is nothing, to me...

  • This is amazing. made my day. An excellent compliment ot the music and the editing of the image is inspired.

  • this dance is awful. its WAY too fast for the music. they should act more slowly and sensitive. the music is subtil and dramatic at the same time, but the dance is only hysteric.

  • but check out the second part, with the blue backdrop....!

  • I have to agree. The movement lacks the power that the music has by virtue of its restraint. The choreography strikes me as too busy. I really love this piece by Arvo Part though. Man he's good. He punches you in the heart.

  • astonishing...uh!!...remarkable!!

  • this piece is one of my favorites, but you cant feel pärt in the dance. it could be anything they dance to. maybe coldplay or james blunt i dont know but they shouldnt use pärts music to act if they dont understand it.

  • How true Kavring!

  • AMAZING!!! Many thanks for posting this!

  • The dancers were out of sync and it distracted me from the overall choreography. I think it would have been a lot better had they all been together (except for, obviously, the non synchronized stuff)

  • - I mean the dancers

  • u mean in the first part? i think no...that girl in the middle in the second row is 1 sec late the whole time...

  • Are they supposed to be out of sync?

  • awesome !

  • who the hell is interpreting the music?? they are not playing it like they should (i know every sound of this song - since is my favorite from Arvo Part) and i can say that they are playing it.. weird. O.o

  • The music sounds good to me! If you mean the editing then yes, it's all over the place. The performance is good, however, if you discount that.

I'd love to hear what you think is a version which is OK if this one is so crap, please post a link or recommend a CD I can buy.

  • i really liked it actually i would like to dance with them! maybe the people who dont like it dontunderstand the concept

  • masterpiece? why...its a copy of all kinds of dance styles..it tries to impress visually, but the only thing to me, that impresses ist the music..sorry

  • So don't watch it, or do you like to beat yourself up?

  • Huge LOL!.... I love those kind of descriptions of interpretive dance though I don't agree with your opinion. But I do love how you described your opinion. Cheers mate!

  • Absolutely beautiful. I heard 'Silentium' as part of an exhibit by Alexander and Susan Maris at my local museum, and I fell in love with this piece instantly. Brilliant.

  • Belíssimo.....

  • Wonderful interpretation, the music is sublime, spiritual; the dance shows the human body (we all have one) as expressive and unafraid. The dancers were brave to do this and I thank them for their courage. The editing is pretty annoying though, I agree, I would also like to see the whole performance.

  • those are the dance for the devil. or for people with brilliant wickd devilish minds : D

  • I'm sorry for you, but I think you have the wood in your head. Arvo Part is one of the best contemporary compositor, and this dances show the power and the magic intensity of his music.

  • try reading my quote again, sense any sarcastic in there?

when was your last IQ check? must be all time low? LOL

  • I'm sorry but maybe for the foreign language I don't undestand sarcastic intention in your quote, when I write on-line I try to be as clear as possible for this reason, anyway, I don't make IQ check, I don't need to know if I am stupid or not, do you need?

  • It's hard to be sarcastic in a language that is not your first... or second...

  • very very beautifull, awesome, very sensitive. i have not seen such thing before. thanks.

  • is there anyboby , who know where i can watch the ballet live?

please , please let me know.

    i am from germany

  • Seriously. They are the Illuminati Enacting to Enslave and Break Thouse who play Tabula Rasa Online Game.

  • i don't like how it's been cut. it throws the fluidity of the transitions in the movements off.

  • This is amazing, thank you, miguel.

  • contmporary and ballet are two different descriptions.

  • thoes chicks were naked

  • he has a point, they were.

  • One of his better pieces - Be good if this song was not accompanied by pseudo art.

  • this is farely ridiculous. Obvious bad splicing, at times the choreography even seems silly. rubbish in my mind. I love arvo part and it is too bad people think this is good art. people like it because there are half naked women in it.

  • ... yeah maybe the editing is not great; but the dancers are pretty good!

You must be pretty depressed if you think people like this video because of the "half naked" women.

  • I have to agree, the choreography isn't good at all, its supposed to be simultanious but they fail at that from time to time.

The concept is good but the preformance isn't
