"did i do that?" there was a worse forklift accident in ybor city (tampa) florida 2003. he got into a power line and caused about forty million dollars in damage from an ensuing fire that ravaged the construction site and several surrounding buildings including a post office.
@YoJimBoHugabaJoe I wouldn't call TYT narrow-minded. On the other hand, you're quite correct; they frequently misspeak on small cultural points. They are, in less fine words, American. They could fix this by hiring a cultural consultant. In the long run, they'd make fewer dumb mistakes and they'd get a lot more repeat viewers in the commonwealth.
Yep, it's going to be years before this guy ever balances out that kind of waste with his unskilled labor (it would have been skilled, but...). He should be fined for the amount in question and moved to a job where he can't fuck shit up.
whoever put those shelves together seriously bad at there job, the first shelf just barely grazed the other one and booyah they ALL come down, I fell kind of sorry for the guy but oh well you have to take responsiblity for your own actions man
ll these people on here saying that the truck would not knock down the racking that truck will weigh around 2.5 tonnes and traveling at the speed he was course it would take the racking down i work in a warehouse and have seen racking bend and twist by the forklift just pushing against it
I was thinking that warehouse shelves are a LOT stronger than that. They are designed to take thousands of pounds of weight and that the steel construction is capable of handling the impact of the forklift ... they have a lot of structural integrity designed into them as well. Not to mention that the boxes of liquor can take a bit of a beating themselves ... I dunno ... I think you might be correct.
Oh c'omomomomon, if the company had gotten real shelves that were properly anchored to the ground, this would just have cost them a couple of hundred dollars.
The image at 00:39 is the shadow of the forklift. There's apparently a source of light more or less at floor level pointed directly at it. The shadow moves because the forklift is passing directly in front of the source of light.
Are you dense? For one, nobody would ever work those jobs if that was par for the course. Who in their right mind would work a job where you would get fired and then charged 2-3 years pay for one mistake at any given time? If he was being blatantly negligent maybe some punishment should be deserved but it was an accident. Better to write it off as operating expenses, increase their price for one or two runs, and call it a day. It's an expensive luxury good anyway.
I want a society where stupid people will work whatever jobs they can get or they starve. I like the way I am getting negative scores for suggesting that everyone should be responsible for his own actions.
I don't think this guy would have been so sloppy if he knew he would have to pay for the damage. Anyway, idiots like this are getting off likely if they have to go to the poorhouse to pay for their idiocy. What consequences will this gobshite face for his blatant ineptitude? Not a damn thing, I'll bet.
Consequence is he loses his job. What you want him to go to jail far an accident? So if you worked im a museum tripped on a carpet and dropped a priceless vase you would think it fair if you lost your house? I have beeh on countless warehouses all over norht america and have seel those racks get nailed by forklifts before, they should not have come down like that either, So the company now goes after the colleg fund of the mim wage workers who instaslled them too?
He lost control of his forklift truck. He is an incompetent buffoon and should have to pay the consequences of his own actions. Why should anyone else shoulder a financial burden for his stupidity? If I trip on a carpet in a museum, it would be partly the fault of the curator for allowing such a carpet to be laid down in a museum. Therefore, I may not be obliged to pay the entire cost of the vase.
So if he was incompetent why was he allowed to operate the forklift? Company has to ensure the operater is trained and is properly able to handle the equipment. He'll pay for the accident by losing his job and probally never working in a warehouse again, problem solved. An employer is responsable for the actions of their employee on the jobsite, Cant make some minimum wage worker repay 150000 damages, The company will write the loss off at the end of the year show some mercy dude
Its really not the guy's fault. Lets be honest, the company was too cheap to get a bigger warehouse so they don't have to stuff each shelf. Plus those shelfs were like little twigs.
Moral of the story: Hire an Engineer to plan your warehouse!
And this is why news people that get their news only from other news people will always fail...
TYT, I love you guys 99% of the time.
This video is OLD. Like 1995 old. It was faked to begin with. I know not a lot of people were online back then, but as somebody who was, take it from me... Funny!, but very faked & very old.
Can't really blame a Russian for doing the "sippy sip." Being from California, I just assume everything like that is bolted to the wall, you know? Earthquakes. Figure the few bolts it would take to secure those things would have been worth the effort. It've been a bump-n-go if they had.
If the shelves were properly installed, not overloaded, there would have been no domino style collapse.
Yes, the driver was at fault, but Management must share the blame, because if the goods were not unsafely stacked, then the whole lot would not have collapsed.
Yeah, I also think the managemnet are probably laughing all the way to the bank. They were insured and will get a payout. No way did that many bottles break so of course you will say 100,000 dollars. meanwhile you are selling the unbroken bottles out the back door. I would have promoted the guy.
Nothing in the story states that the driver was drunk. So, if he wasnt its pretty clear it was an accident and in that case, yes, the union would defend you.
"Drink driving" is the UK version of "Drunk driving". Like lift = elevator, boot = trunk, pissed = drunk, knackered = tired, fag = cigarette, bum = butt, etc. :)
Maybe the warehouse production design staff won't make knocking into a crate by one person an utter destruction of their product line, next time. This issue is not really how a tipsy worker in an alcohol warehouse knocked over bottles, but the lack of anticipation and management design the production staff had in this situation. I bet they won't make the same mistake again.
Do not mis-understand, that is nothing! Top level management loses that like its dust on thier suits. Just brush it off. Every American Food Company Warehouse that size tosses out that much food every month from losing the stuff and letting it spoil or dropping it and tossing it. That loss is nothing to be worried about and will not affect the profit of the company at all. Each employee will suffer a $100 dollar loss over the year and at bonus time. It is easily distributed over the employee$.
Too bad for the driver - what a screwup! But look at that stock shelf post, it was clearly undersized for the need. The warehouse owner bought light duty shelving, trying to save a little money.
Wall Street made a 700 billion mistake and look what happened. They went to the government for help. No one got mad at them in Wall Street after loosing 700 billion dollars!!!
I think video cameras have spurred the Gods of Slapstick to heights of perverse creativity. The sheer amount of Rube Goldbergian disasters great and small caught on camera are far above any statistical probability.
Of course it's guessing. It can't be anything else. It's practically impossible that *every single box* was destroyed. Therefore, it was bad guessing, not worthy of the usual TYT standard.
the original forklift accident video is among the most popular today anyway, so its not surprising a lot of people are adding the clip to their videoz
Exactly, Im a storeman by profession, and that racking should have been made to stand independent of each other.
This is nothing, I've seen guys ram at full speed onto a steel support pylon (of the warehouse, not racking) and the forklift come out second best, I've also seen guy smash into racking and take out an entire support and the racking continue to stand.
Pallets stacked with vodka and cognac might've been some heavy shit, but still.
lol this happens all the time in warehouses, the only difference being the racking is properly installed and/or constructed and/or not overloaded and pallets are properly stacked.
yeah it's awesome

Exactly, Im a storeman by profession, and that racking should have been made to stand independent of each other.
This is nothing, I've seen guys ram at full speed onto a steel support pylon (of the warehouse, not racking) and the forklift come out second best, I've also seen guy smash into racking and take out an entire support and the racking continue to stand.
Pallets stacked with vodka and cognac might've been some heavy shit, but still.

lol this happens all the time in warehouses, the only difference being the racking is properly installed and/or constructed and/or not overloaded and pallets are properly stacked.
