Jon's illness should not mean that Chris, Steve or Alan have to stop making music or earning an living. That's what the issue is about. If you don't appreciate Benoit's voice stay home and listen to the original recordings.
For a absoluty fan like me, it's hard tu understand the attitude or Steve and Chis about Jon and his disease. Jon is Yes, the spirtit and the soul. I learn a lot in my life with this guy and his songs, music and lyrics. I am french so be indulgent about my english! JF
From the moment David starts singing...it really does honor Jon's voice although he's not right on but does a very close job, which is very commendable in this beautiful song. I'm very sorry Jon has had respiratory problems and wish him well.
@ePhilosopher9 I'm sure they all like Jon but, let's face it, he's getting too old to hit these notes even once much less every night. The material still holds up well 30 years later. Isn't that what matters?
Jon's not able to tour due to the severe respiratory problems he's suffered over the past couple of years. Recent appearances by Jon in Europe have shown him looking rather gaunt and unable to sing with much power. It's sad, but age was bound to catch up with him eventually . . .
You know we have to happy. The next generation of Yes is forming right in front of our eyes. We are witnessing history forming here. Jon will always be remembered. But Yes must continue.
Benoit is doing a wonderful job! Jon himself said once: "YES is like a bus, some goes off the bus and some goes on the bus, but there have always been the right musicians in YES for the right time". Now Benoit is on the bus and doing great!
Kind of appropriate, because at the time of Drama, when Geoff and Trevor (The Buggles) came on board, some folks called them The Yuggles - and others BUS!
I think Benoit don`t have to be desrespected just because we`re missing Anderson. Benoit is a great singer and if the guys choose him it`s not his fault.
Wow - Benoit has nailed it - I'm really impressed. For those mourning the absence of Jon, remember that though Yes have normally been a five piece band they are now up to 15 or 16 past and present members. Even Trevor Horn on vocals! Chris Squire has been the only constant member. Perpetual Change.
All these songs are classics now and we do not expect composers to execute forever. The new generation is taking over. A good start for the next Yes generation.

howe, squire and white should be ashamed of themselves over the disgraceful treatment of their "bandmate" jon anderson.here we have a man struck down with a life-threatening illness and their get well soon message is stuff you we'll get someone else in your place.they did the same in 1980 and i think it all stems from the fact that they're jealous of anderson whose solo work,ie,song of seven, animation etc is equal to yes' output, you could also apply that to rick wakeman.
Don't go by a lousy sounding video on Youtube. I saw them on the 7th in Atlanta and Benoit did a fantastic job. They all looked like they were having fun. Who knows really how long it will take for Jon to recover (if he even recovers at all). However, it seems like they could have been more up front with Jon about touring w/out him. I'm flying down to Ft. Lauderdale to see them at the Hard Rock Cafe. I love this band!
This is one of my favorite Yes melodies and it was probably mostly written by Jon but I think it is unfair to call Benoit David an amateur. He was in a tribute band but he is also the new voice of the Canadian prog rock band Mystery and his work there is impressive. He can sing and does a credible job and he gives the old folk a front man to play with. Nobody is complaining about Oliver Wakeman...he is not his father but does a nice job and... we will all be replaced someday.
@newpro5657 this responce is a little delated< i agree, it's all the sound with in our mind! " the sound of the heart, we still have left inside. Waiting to be here!
Its always the same thing, how you can forget JON ANDERSON so quickly incredible, i lesting YES since 1971, trying to compare JON ANDERSON VOICE with this man is stupid, maybe we can hear again Jon Anderson with YES, for me this is not Yes, this are the others yesgus, with a man who sing well that´s all, listing this incredible song, i feel so sure of my thinking.
Saw Yes at the Montreal Forum many years they wer great then with John....Benoit my friend you are also truly amzing and beleieve you make us all proud in Montreal, Take care OB1....
The Benoit hate here seems severely misplaced. If you didn't already know it wasn't Jon singing, would you *really* be able to tell, just from listening?
There's no disrespect to Jon in complimenting Benoit David for doing such a fantastic job. To my ears, he sounds similar to how Jon sounded on the earliest Yes albums. His singing fits the music here beautifully.
Steve, Chris and Alan are looking alarmingly old these days. So relax, and just enjoy this while they're all still with us.
i agree with you man, Yes is Jon Anderson´s voice, the music of Yes are played several times for a lot of other musicians but the voice of JON ANDERSON is impossible to get.
Benoit yes lead singer of Yes ARE YOU NUT ??????? are you crazy man, are you talking in a serius way, Jon Anderson is still de most wonderfull voice of all bands for progessive rock all over the world, its a shame that yes menbers cannot wait for the UNIQUE voice. Jon , jon, jon, jon, jon ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Of course, people, he's not Jon... But IT'S NOT YES!
time passed by and all that remains with us fans (specially who ever saw Yes live, like me) is the will to carry on in some way, just like some other people did with Beethoven, Mozart .... That's the present. And it's the best we can have. Jon's voice is unique and i don't believe some other guy could do better than this.
I thought it was good. Not perfect, but really good. There were a few points where I thought he was really nailing it. It didn't sound like Jon but it did sound like Yes.
I don't think Jon did it perfectly every time either, so you can't judge it against Jon on the studio album.
There are certain vocal qualities that Jon had that can't be duplicated. My only complaint about Benoit is that he doesn't have his own unique vocal qualities. He should develop own voice. He's good though.
PEPPERONIHEAD's comments should be seen as the DEFINITIVE words regarding the ongoing Jon / YES saga. Your comments Sir / Madam are absolutely bang on the nail.
I'm sorry, I must be a Yes purest or something, but when I shut my eyes I do not here Jon. I do not hear the heart and soul that is Yes. It sounds good, but it does not embody the soul, the essence, the spirit that Jon has always brought to the band. I am deeply saddened that the remainder of hte band could not wait for Jon, their true leader.
Have to admit he has a good voice similar to Jon but this still more like watching a tribute band than the real thing...if the format is the same when they come to Europe I won't be going.

THIS IS JON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ITS LIKE SOMEONE ELSE DOING ANOTHERS SOLO.
JON IS YES!!!
THIS MAKES ME MISS HIM EVEN MORE.
TO ALL WHO THINKS IT'S RIGHT...TO HAVE A VOICE THAT SOUNDS LIKE JON, PUT SOMEONE ELSE OUT THERE TO REPLACE "THE MAN", IT IS VERY SAD.
I AM SICK OF CHRIS AND STEVE, ALAN WAS THE ONLY ONE OF THE 3 THAT CALLED JON WHILE HE WAS SICK.
JON IS TOURING, HE AND RICK IN 0CT AND NOV.
