  • ~~ I'm not sure how many people understood ... that you were not supposed to watch the whole movie ~~ You were supposed to walk out of the theatre during "the second to the last song" Just as Bjork said she does when watching musicals. When I first heard this... I stopped the movie and cried for 15 minutes because I immediately understood (and a movie rarely gets me for more than 1)

  • @katuroo / on a side note, I bought the cd (Selmasongs) first and thought it was wonderful, especially "107 Steps" - bought the movie months later, and when I saw what that song was about, well that was the first time I broke down.

  • the seen is depressingly wonderful

  • It's so hard to see this scene again ... I can't see the end again :,(

  • BJÖRK DID ANOTHER MOVIE CALLED THE JUNIPER TREE

  • 息子のために死を選ぶ、最後の最期まで、息子ねため、悲し過ぎます。ラストソングじゃない!ラストにしない限り.名作です。

  • merveilleux film !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It should never be legal to take a life

  • The fact this film was made with handheld cameras etc.. makes this seem so much more real along with Bjork who just makes everything seem real :|

  • she said it: "and that's all." and it was indeed.

  • @alejogeovanny it is sad...

  • she is not acting...she is feeling everything

  • Bjork is awesome in this movie, i cry in this part T_T

  • but she was not innocent

  • oh my god... =0( I almost died when I saw this movie, and this scene destroyed me... just destroyed me. This is the human condition... pain and suffering.

  • @fquinon2 its true.....its the human condition........sad....

  • heftig so realistisch ....echt krass

  • lol what this be trollin

  • Oh this film kills me everytime i watch it. I love the song, and I cant help but cry, knowing she is going to die at the end. Even watching this clip, knowing what is going to happen... ooh creeps me out every time.

  • I love the ending, but only because that waste of air gets killed

  • @2mad2behere honestly... her situation coulda been solved so easily if she hadn't been so stupid

  • @Starkk0 Bullet to the vocal chords will do the job

  • @ch0lita623 She was in the Juniper Tree. It was good. Its on youtube. Maybe you can watch it

  • one of the most moving movies i've seen and it was made for Bjork, she was perfect!

  • This movie is so hauntingly sad & disturbing. Bjork was already 1 of my favorite artists, but her performance in this movie is pure epic. She definitely should think about doing another film, though she set the bar extremely high for herself. My sister actually got more depressed, had nightmares, & had to up her dosage of antidepressants for like a week after watching this. To this day, she still refuses to watch it again. Bjork is amazing.

  • She should do another movie, this is some of the best acting I've seen in awhile don't care what the critics say. I usually don't like musicals because the actors have no singing talent or they can sing and have no acting talent. Or the music is from a dead end writer desperately trying to save his career. Bjork brought acting, singing and writing to the show and destroyed every musical ever made.

  • I always cry at this part.. well during the whole movie

  • she's so amazing there...i was surprised

  • 9 personas no tienen alma

  • Though I enjoyed the film, I did not like its manipulative qualities. The story supposedly took place in CA where in reality hangings have NEVER been sanctioned by the court and the death penalty (by lethal injection) is very rare.

Bjork is known for being strongly against the death penalty, and the story is clearly a powerful allegory to sway opinions.

  • @freestuffin2012 still an epic film though to be fair, even if that is the goal

  • I can muster up the courage to watch single bits of the film but I've yet to watch it whole for the second time, I'm too scared. It just broke my heart.

  • when I try to remember this part, I always end crying

  • @nothingness36 - I don't condemn recreational drug use. I've done drugs, and most of my friends have. But if you take drugs to escape your life, you're doing them for the wrong reasons and there's clearly a psychological problem that need be addressed. Everyone ages. Everyone parts ways. Those are simple facts of life: impermanence. Selma's development was more tragic because she was going blind, accused of a murder she didn't commit. Both aren't part of the life cycle. She wasn't a junkie.

  • @nothingness36 - I feel for people who eat whatever prescriptions they're spoonfed by their doctors without really questioning what it's doing to them. But if something has those types of effects on a person, I think it then becomes personal responsibility to change physicians and quit said medication. I didn't feel empathy for any of the characters in Requiem. I really felt bad for Selma.. her end was much more tragic.

  • @nothingness36 - Requiem For A Dream is a good film, too, but I think this film is much more meaningful. Selma didn't actually kill Bill. She wasn't directly responsible for his death. The people in Requiem were junkies and asked for what was coming to them, so I kind of see the two in different lights.

  • Me and my uncle and cousin were so quiet for 5 mins and I went to the restroom and cryed bjork is a good artist and actress

  • my heart litterally skips a beat everytime I hear the *boom* when she is hanged :/ bjork is a genius, this is my new favorite movie :)

  • @3eternity3

my heart feels the same way, the happiness after the boom is the best part tho.

  • How can people dislike this? It was so beautiful

  • ffffffffffuck..!! I have no soul..!! :\

  • Christ, I'm sitting in a public computer lab at school watching this, and I still can't stop myself from crying at this scene.

  • This movie makes me cry like a baby every time I watch it, and I've seen it over a dozen times. A testament to the power of a single film.

  • this scene is ridiculous. this movie is ridiculous. sad, i mean. this is a heartbreaking piece of work with groundbreaking acting (if you could even call it acting; more like "being") from Bjork. amazing.

  • i actually had to watch it in two parts... i couldnt takke it....

  • This movie is so amazing! I cryed so loud when this happened u.u

  • A pesar de no ser actriz demostró ser una gran artista . You are a wonderful woman!

  • I felt kinda awkward pushing the like buttom...

  • Steven Segal would have been better than Björk in this movie!

  • this movie makes me want to slash my wrists...i wish i never saw it...this movie changed my life...damn you bjork...danm you...but oh god i love your music and your acting...

  • 8 people should be in bjorks place

  • only lars von trier film i can tolerate

  • I cried. This is so horrible (but so beautiful). I have to watch this movie. o_o

  • cant stop crying everytime I hear it

  • This woman should got oscars for best music

    and best acting....got dammit !!!

  • This movie made a whole theatre cry... It's sooo moving and also dramatic... Bjork is a very talented woman and she proved it once again with her acting!

  • i can't watch this is just makes me want to hug her

  • 8 person are for capital punishment !

  • the sadest movie Ive ever seen

  • gives me chills...this scene is so powerful.

  • omfg this always makes me cry...

  • i hate my sister for saying its stupid.

  • @dcrock116 that's what my sister said....i was pissed lol

  • @sydw56 this movie will just make tears come out.. you dont even have to be sad (im crying from this from seeing the video in the corner of my eye)

  • incredible .

  • I never really made it clear, did Gene get his operation or was the glasses and words only a lie to calm her down?

  • @fillethefish Gene got the operation I'm pretty sure!

  • @fillethefish he got it. In fact there's a scene where "Cvalda" tells Selma they can afford a lawyer that will re open the case, but she realizes immediately that they will pay him with the money from the operation so she refuses in order to pay Gene's operation.

  • i never cry at movies. Couldnt help stop crying here.

  • God I never cry during movies, but this one completely sent me over the edge.

  • this whole film is pure genius

  • Dwnlad this m o v i e awesome quality now just Search Google T H E N E W S B U Z Z

  • super movie!!!!!!!!!! one of my best faves

  • The single most distressing movie sequence I have ever seen. No other movie has quite has this sort of effect on me.

  • schafft die todesstrafe ab, man!

  • I was looking for a Bjork sample to put into a beat I just made and I was watching this to see if I can put anything from it oh my goodness. I'm crying right now man. one of THE BEST movies ever filmed man for reals.

  • i cried during all the end of the film.... :'( this is so....

  • capolavoro sì, maledizione.

Se devo fare la figura del piagnone ogni volta che vedo film del genere, guarda te -.-'''

  • capolavoro

  • i can imagine the suffering of björk during the filming of this scene, 'cause this was the first thing she did after that video of a guy killing himself and blaiming her went out to the public.

  • The ending of this movie killed me. watching her friend crying and listening to Bjork's character was very torture, especially when she starts screaming for her son and singing.

    I love this movie.

  • I totally agree with you, i never thought that the end were like that.....when she fell dow i died.......i sarted to criy and cry nd keep criyin a half hour......i admit that i tortured myself..........=(

i felt very very horrible, i couldnt thint that she were Björk...........

  • This is highly emotional. Really feel the atmosphere as if you were really there yourself. Not what I was expecting at all to be honest. A good surprise. Tastefully done, so to speak. Anybody watching this should not feel that this is poor acting, infact the opposite. Whether I'd want to see the full movie is pending. This scene - glad someone put it on UTUBE. Fantastic acting Bjork.

  • how is this movie called?

  • dancer in the daek

  • @ProBetax Dancer in the Dark.

  • If you don't cry during this movie, you have no soul.

  • @CKYnHiFi lol i was just thinking that and put it as my myspace status

  • @CKYnHiFi I soo agree with you

  • @CKYnHiFi dunno man, I didn't cry XD I mean, it wasn't like a tearjerking film(had no such dramatic aura). it had rather brutally cold and realistic views, so I was just soooo shocked, couldn't move for a while.. was definitely sad, but it didn't make me cry.

  • @CKYnHiFi i didnt cry during this movie, but it made me feel really sad

  • @CKYnHiFi I didn't cry.

Mostly because I was paralyzed and it wrecked me to the point where I wanted to write Bjork a letter asking if she was okay for the next week.

  • @richardexplosion same! i didnt cry the first time either. i was too shocked.

  • @CKYnHiFi I have this movie and her second one

  • @CKYnHiFi I can't even watch this scene ONLY without having a significant cry!

  • @CKYnHiFi

    Guess I don't have a soul then.

  • I needed to cry today. And I cried.

Now I'm going to write a song... thank you for this video. I really love Bjork

  • oh give me a break!

  • How fantastic it is when she start sing without any sound except the silence to help her.

The film is really over only when you heard "New World"

  • This part was so sad =(

  • i haven't seen this, why is she being killed?

  • She was condemed for murder she didn't commit. I won't spoil it for you any further. See it for yourself.

  • Actually, he DID commit the crime, but in order to avoid the stealing of his son's money!

  • @shadowfox1383 well... i dont know if thats entirely accurate..

  • powerful!

  • Still, after five attempts, I cannot see the full video, I get 2/3 of the way and I break down. This is a very powerful performance! I love you, Bjork. Your music was my comfort during my Marine deployments.

  • i cried at the end

  • so did I. this is a great film..

  • omg it got to 0:08 and i said "nope i can't watch it" because i suddenly remembered how it happens so vividly.

really bad thing to see twice when your a big fan. lol

  • I still have only gotten to 3 mins on this video, and I can't watch any more of it :( I have the dvd but I can't even watch, it's too sad. Bjork is the best actress I've ever seen, it seems she's actually feeling it all, not acting it :( Sooooo good, and I will actually finish the film soon :)

  • Its not cruel.

    Its just real.

  • I made my sister watch this and she literally was teary for a week afterwards.

Bjork is such an amazing artist.

Has anyone noticed that the weird red-headed chick is the Bus Driver in the end of "Forrest Gump"?

  • I cried too.

  • oMg...thiS is woow...gReaT mOvie...

  • Dancer In The Dark w/ Bjork was a brilliant film.

  • i HATE this scene

it's so brutal actually when the trouble started it was awful

i NEVER expected this to happen to her all the unfairness and wrong-doing! i thought it'd be a happy ending that was the biggest turn for the worst i've ever scene. but i loved the movie and i loved bjork even before this movie

  • I LOVED this movie when i saw it on IFC. I was crying so hard during this scene, it was amazing. I want it on tape :)

  • @sephyr2006 You know, you can get the soundtrack on cassette too.

  • It's crazy that americans are actually watching executions, just like the old roman gladiator fights, executions as entertainment!

  • i had no idea it was even like this

    it's awful and cruel

  • why did they have to do what they did she was only wanting to help her son if i was there i wouldn't have been kicking there asses she did not deserved to be hanged those bitches but this movie was the best movie i had ever saw ^^

  • She deserve an Oscar

  • first time i ever got tears running about in my eyes watching a movie

  • great vid

    funny video lets chat lk

  • Before this, musicals are overly choreographed and never kill off the lead. This is another reason why I love this film so much, besides its great acting and musical numbers. I just wished it wasn't so tragic at the end, because it was quite an embarrassment to walk out the theater with swollen red eyes.

  • i agree that this movie has just the right recipe for what a musical should be. i disagree that it shouldnt have been so tragic. it is high time we wake up to certain realities and face our issues without sugar coating anything. This would be a disservice to ourselves. I congratulate the producers, writers, actors, etc. for providing us this service and for challenging us to be as brave Bjork's character. bravo!

  • I love the film so much q_q

and i love when she sings "all" in this song (4:27 - 4:42)

  • FUCK LARS VON TRIER for make me bawl like a baby. but god it was briliant

  • damcer in the dark :] , awesome film :)

  • what film is this with bjork in. I want to see it.

  • this movie gets me every time. it's so beautiful.

  • I am very upset that she died. Very!

  • its not really a musical.

the main character just thinks it is. you kinda have to see the movie to get it.

  • i also love the red head lady cop.

    i love her sympathy.... :(

  • wait what!?!?!?!?!?!?

    bjork gets hung!?

i've never seen this movie! why is she getting hung!

and i totally cried when i saw this clip too!

and i just ruined the ending for myself oh well.

haha but now i want to see the movie.

    :)

  • she was AWESOME.

  • This Is my Favorite

    Part!

This one always kills me, and I agree with all who said this is the greatest acting Ever, it certainly is.

    She is amazing. !! ^^

I Saw This Movie Many Time!!

    XD!

  • This movie made me weep endlessly. My girlfriend, who was ridiculing my obsession with Björk at the time, wept too when we watched this together.

And this part... it's just plain cruel.

  • Yeah, I got teary eyed and the chills at the end of this movie and during other parts as well, it's beautiful and just as sad as this other movie I saw, Once Were Warriors, my two favorites

  • i saw this movie once, loved it, but i can never ever see it again because it is easily one of the saddest movies ever made

  • I can't stop crying...

  • hmmm.. the movie is sad, but very good. but for me personally bjork is msuician, not an actor, the movie is great, but her music is immortal

  • This one always kills me, and I agree with all who said this is the greatest acting EVER, it certainly is.

    She is amazing.

  • It reminds me of Jesus Christ. and also it makes me cry. so beautiful

  • i had almost cry at this last scene.

  • halen daha böyle şeyler olduğuna inanmıyorum vahşet bu ya.

  • That part of the movie made me cry.

  • painful haunting and beautiful

  • so sad.. ):

  • I was crying like a little baby ;-(
