  • I’m not saying my country is better or anything but you cannot deny that blacks in North America even Canada or Britain have more opportunity for advancement then blacks in Brasil.

I have to say, how many ghettos can claim such a beautiful view and such gorgeous natural surroundings?

  • @gshunw: The majority of tourist countries in the southern hemisphere of the world are GORGEOUS. and they are also in extreme poverty, so actually A LOT of ghettos can claim such a beautiful view.

  • I am so fascinated by the culture and lifestyle of black and mixed Brasilians. I hate to see blacks suffering in my country or any other (whether by their own ignorance or racial injustice against them). I admit that what I know of Brasil is what I’ve read but it seems that the black and mixed people need a Civil Rights movement of their own.

  • does anyone know where i can watch this movie online?

  • the issues begin with the oppressed institutions and structures - these people see no way out of a hopeless life, that is why they become drug dealers and what not - they have no other way to survive! People need to look at the larger issue -> the politcs, the insitutions are oppressing the people, leaving them at the marginals to fend for themselves

  • this film is sick ive seen it at school

  • @jorgemacedofotografo another day i was hearing an english woman saying she wanted to go to rio, i mean she has every thing in england , why she wants to mess around there?

  • the comment below was ment for rystarrussel

  • I'm sure they would if there were jobs. Educate yourself.

  • No job would pay as much as they can earn dealing drugs, you idiot. The only solution is one that will never happen, the legalization of drugs so the druglords lose their jobs.

  • No the only solution is to make the world care and embarass the shitty brazilian gov. How get some white folks to take the heat. R U stupid or wot, It's REGGAE my ppl are listening, too. Reggae was from poorest BLACKEST PART OF JA, make no mistake there are plenty rich white/red bone ppl in JA who live large. They like Brazilian and latino rulers in General (Columbia!) EXPECT to c the descendents of Afrikans die now like they did on the plantations. Favelas r White Racisms Shame...period

  • Unfortunately, legalization isn't the key here. Political corruption and inequality are. More than 3/4 of Brazil's national GDP is held in pensions for the richest few members of the population, leaving an impossibly small amount of funding for everything but federal pension therefore causing widespread poverty.

  • people like you piss me off, until you have been there and experienced there quality of life you cant say a single fuckin thing, 10 dollars of ur filthy cash would buy them a house, but u dont realise with the clothes and food that you throw away that would be like christmas for them, also about the jobs, they would kill for an education and i can assure you they are alot more ambitious than you or me, they fight to survive day to day while u sit in a house with heating and food.

  • you know what is fun? That film wasn't show here, its a film for people outside. You guys don't really know what its going on here. Please, stop talking bullshit. Can you see the problem? They organize the facts, and the images, so can you think, the way they wanted.

  • I love Brazil and Brazilian people, but unfortunately the country has some reality that are very depressing and degradating.

It's not fault of mother nature that there are favelas in Brazil. I't society fault.

Problem that have a human cause can only be solved by humans, if they the good will to do it.

Anything less than that it's just a cope out.

  • Favelas are caused by financial & educational inequalities.

  • i live in rio and i never see nothing about this documentary here. and i love cinema. they dont want to us see this. here dont have protetions.

  • nobody should live like dat
