I'm impressed with a cat that could actually catch an owl, even a small one!! I love owls. Growing up, there was a family of owls living in the tree outside my bedroom window, and they were there for years. I used to go to sleep to the sound of them hooting. I miss them.

yeah my cat does the same thing, it eats it sooner or later its just bored and wants to play with it first, tho one time i got a dead rabbit instead the cat just kept mowing at me...it wanted me to pet and praise it for the catch then let me dismiss with the remains XD what a great cat -_-, it does that every time i catches something.so i always save the ones that are still alive so there's no later clean up

Am glad you handled the situation well :) Ive rescued some animals from my old cats before, one caught a chipmunk but luckily the chipmunk was unharmed. we kept the chipmunk in a cage for about a week, during which time it escaped and ran around the house until my mom caught it (man those things can bite!). After observing it for a little over a week to make sure it was healthy and had no internal injuries from the cat, we let the chipmunk go.

I think cats bring home stuff like that as gifts to give to their masters. They specifically bring it inside the house where they know their master lives & will leave it where they know you'll find it. They are very observant creatures.
