Great Video, thanks for posting! It looks like it works the same way as a polymoog only a little different layout. I restored a polymoog and can honestly say that if the vox is anything like the polymoog it is a job to repair.
@synthpro Yeah the polymoog in my studio has absorbed at least 30 hours of my life I think :-). I got it for 100 bucks and restoring it was a very time consuming thing even with the service manual in hand. The polymoog only has two vco's and the vox of course has 12 independent oscillators; one for each note. The moog uses a top octave synth chip and then chip dividers instead of discrete transistors. The moog leaves one VCO's 'rank' square and turns the other into sawtooth etc.
@sounddoctorin My polymoog took me about 3 months. Oh yes, the manual got in my way at some points, but I made it through the restoration. I am sure the Vox is a little easier to repair than what I was thinking. if you have a dead note, you just go to the oscillator that produces that note and check the divider circuit for that key. Very nice.
Damn. I love how Paul works the drawbars. Personally, I like the distorted sound of the first part of the demo. But the Youtube compression could be messing with it. Still, sweet playing.
Sorry youtube's interface is fouled. I accidentally removed the post that complimented Paul's playing. For those interested Paul played with a really great band years ago. He's just flipping out a few riffs though to demo the instrument. It's not a concert. He didn't do a lot of rehursing to make this video etc. So please appreciate it for what it is; a demo of a classic instrument's sound quality. Thanks.
Your runs make me want to just go throw away my Jaguar.

I agree with that! Wow the guy smokes and makes it look effortless. I'd love to be a quarter that good one day.

Wow, Paul's dexterity/accuracy is fantastic! He does certainly know his way around those mixtures.

The distortion can be achieved by just overdriving the mixer :-). These things have a pretty hot output.

You've got the light my fire sound right. Unlike others who simply pull all the drawbars out and switch vibrato on
