There is literally no reason at all that music like this can't still CURRENTLY exist. Even if these kind of bands were making new music, I am sure it would still have this great kind of a sound to it. It would also inspire new bands to come out and make a whole new generation of "Hair" bands. We have retro styled cars today, old clothing styles come back...why can't this kind of music hit mainstream again? I have a subscription to XM Radio just to hear stuff like this!!

@suplex2000 a lot of 80s bands do make new music. Dokken continues to do so but its only George and Mick Brown. Still sounds like old school Dokken. Ratt's last album "Infestation" is very 80s like old Ratt. Check out these new releases. They are there, you just have to look for them. And there are new "Hair" bands out there, most of them over seas but they are pretty damm good. Lets have an 80s resurrection!!

The artist is removed from the picture. Look at the concerts that are reduced to a dance routine with lip-syncing instead of a performance. It is a studio control issue rather than musicians making music.
