All drugs (including medications) cause different side effects in different people and may be more effective for one person rather than another. Why would meth be any different? Self-control may be a small part of it, but then again, no one knows how they will react until they use it...and really, if there is a chance addiction or other damage will occur, it's probably better to stay away.

When you grow up you might realize (depending on where your being raised) that people use drugs like amphetamines, opiates, cocaine etc. all the time and never gain a physical addiction, and go on living there life as they would normally.
@mitchtvnet To add to what you said, it overloads the dopamine receptors in your brain, so the brain starts killing them off to produce less which is why you will never feel that high again. If abused for long enough, your brain will eventually produce so little dopamine that you will not even feel the same as before you started the drug. Those receptors will not regrow or turn back on so the damage is permanent.

My father used to be a cop in a BRUTAL neighborhood back during the early 70's during the heroin craze. After that, he was a guard at a maximum security prison for 10 years. He thinks drug addicts, especially those that do "hard drugs" are all menacing degenerate scum who should be exterminated and thrown into mass graves. sometimes it has to do with who you know or hang out with. i knew the most beautiful girl she was 12 and she like me. a few years later she was a skeleton and homeless. i felt bad because i wanted to help her but i didn't even want anything to do with her anymore. she got it from her brother who sold it. i got mine because my cousin sold it to my parents. and no i'm not a redneck we were upper class citizens living in a suburban neighborhood. now we're all homeless.
and like i said i only did it for a few months then stopped. i was 15 i couldn't finish school because my parents sold everything i had to drop out and get a ged. and i couldn't afford to go to college. it effects you wether you smoke it or not. i'm still trying to make my life better i'm now 24 i haven't done meth since i was 15 but my life is still fucked up from it.

@imascab Im going to have to disagree with you. Many people try drugs and never become addicts. Unfortunately there are some people that become addicted instantly. This is something a non addict will never understand. Depression, anxiety and childhood trauma are issues that can push a person into using. In most cases you are either born an addict or you are not. Its just like any other disease my friend.

All drugs (including medications) cause different side effects in different people and may be more effective for one person rather than another. Why would meth be any different? Self-control may be a small part of it, but then again, no one knows how they will react until they use it...and really, if there is a chance addiction or other damage will occur, it's probably better to stay away.

honestly; I have to say I believe these trips are more in their heads than a result of drugs. Everyone's brain chemistry is different. If you're not mentally sound you should AVOID drugs....if you're already manic you shouldn't take any amphetemine. or uppers....I have ADD so stuff like this doesn't phase me I dare say it almost makes me normal.....I still fall asleep. psychiatrists grill people with questions because of this problem.

@mitchtvnet To add to what you said, it overloads the dopamine receptors in your brain, so the brain starts killing them off to produce less which is why you will never feel that high again. If abused for long enough, your brain will eventually produce so little dopamine that you will not even feel the same as before you started the drug. Those receptors will not regrow or turn back on so the damage is permanent.

My father used to be a cop in a BRUTAL neighborhood back during the early 70's during the heroin craze. After that, he was a guard at a maximum security prison for 10 years. I wish people would stop saying things like it's their fault because they choose to do it...a lot of these people come from poverty stricken, broken families, who are abused, have no parental figures or if they do, the parents themselves are junkies. The vast majority of these people are products of their environment. Kids that are lost, abused emotionally and physically, hopeless, suicidal and will do or try anything to escape the harsh cold reality that we call life. Think about it.

@imascab Im going to have to disagree with you. Many people try drugs and never become addicts. Unfortunately there are some people that become addicted instantly. This is something a non addict will never understand. Depression, anxiety and childhood trauma are issues that can push a person into using. In most cases you are either born an addict or you are not. Its just like any other disease my friend.

@imascab There are a lot of choices that aren't as bad as drug use - once you make that initial choice, the choices to use the 2nd and 3rd time, ad infinitum, are affected by drug-laden reasoning. Despite all of the information readily available, people still imagine the terrible effects of addiction won't actually apply to them. Telling more stories about what will happen after the initial choice help others stay away from that using with normal (non-addict) reasoning still intact.
