Yes, it is invalid to call yourself a "future" member of any sorority. However, these young ladies do not know any better. Most AA women are first generation college students and they do not know the ropes. TEACH THEM in order to make them the women we are looking for. That is your duty. Don't chase them away.

Politics is a bitch but hey even if you do not recognize it everybody goes by em. At the end of the day it is a popularity / give and take situation. Question to all the greeks- I definately want to pledge to a sorority because I really want to share sisterhood and want to be involved in community service- and I know that it's not wise to say exactly what organization I want to be apart of, but is it okay if I express my intrest to want to pledge period on campus?

There's a lot more to the organization than the limited knowledge you get from their website or wikipedia. You may know that much of it, but there's a TON you don't learn until the intake & membership process.

It is extremely disrespectful to do any calls,hand signs, or steps that you see historically Black fraternities or sororities do. If you didn't know, it's okay... just know better next time.
That's true, but I wonder why so many of their hand signs mean other things. For example, AKA is also sign language for the letter "I," Kappa is sign language for the letter "F," and Alpha is sign language for the letter "Y" and can also mean "What's up?" And the one for Sigma also means "Rock on" And need I mention Kappa Kappa Psi? Theirs is sign language for "I love you." I don't really understand...
I can see why you would think that, but that is you looking from the outside in, honestly you won't ever understand unless you join an organization what the sign means. Its just good policy to be respectful and don't mock or try to interpret something you don't really understand.

Question to all the greeks- I definately want to pledge to a sorority because I really want to share sisterhood and want to be involved in community service- and I know that it's not wise to say exactly what organization I want to be apart of, but is it okay if I express my intrest to want to pledge period on campus?

Yes it okay....Some greeks on here get very anal when you say which greek you like to pledge or ask questions about it like somebody is watching your every move or something lmao....but how will you know if you dont ask and express how you feel....but I think thats it great you want to pledge for the right reasons......most got these ladies and fellas be pledging for all the wrong reasons now.....

I'm not a Greek, but I happen to know that it is very rude and disrespectful for someone who isn't a Greek to do the Greeks' signs and calls. Furthermore, if you DO want to be a Greek, you might want to keep to yourself exactly which one you want to be, because bragging about wanting to be one will only hurt your chances of becoming one. your so right, not only did i hear that it is a sign of disrespect to call out or do their sign from my cousin (whom is an AKA); i've heard it from other frats in soros in general... like, u can't do that. this is for future reference to anyone who wants to pledge... do not associate urselfs with the frats or soros if u have nothing to do with them. u will lose ur chance of gettin to that point of sayin ur in that greek... u don't wanna do that, trust me

It is extremely disrespectful to do any calls,hand signs, or steps that you see historically Black fraternities or sororities do. If you didn't know, it's okay... just know better next time.

That's true, but I wonder why so many of their hand signs mean other things. For example, AKA is also sign language for the letter "I," Kappa is sign language for the letter "F," and Alpha is sign language for the letter "Y" and can also mean "What's up?" And the one for Sigma also means "Rock on" And need I mention Kappa Kappa Psi? Theirs is sign language for "I love you." I don't really understand...
