  • Awesome :D

  • I have no problem with them doing this kind of research, I find it fascinating actually, but the one thing that scares me about this..I wish the person at the front didn't have the lead rope wrapped around that pole..maybe if it was wrapped once, but twice and the horse slips...eek..I've seen too many horses spook while being tied and unable to get free..it's very scary.

  • That's so cool!!

  • I LOVE that little white mark on the side of her nose. :)

  • Humans need to fucking leave animals alone. KFC should be the only ones allowed to experiment on animals :P

  • This is fine research. They know what they're doing -___-

  • that boring

  • My gelding would have so much fun on a treadmill just as soon as he figured out how to move on it! lol looks like fun! just minus all the research that gets put into it.

  • Everyone has their own opinions - but mine: If the animal doesn't have its own voice (which obviously none do, but there are signs of distress) then this shouldn't happen. However - as you can see, this animal looks in no way - distressed. Though I imagine if it were, they'd still force it to go on the treadmill in the future :l

  • They're tied! That's sad..

  • @msnhyves that's a good thing if you are exercising them or maybe wanna see how quickly a horse can get tired

  • @msnhyves why would it be any more tired on a treadmill then if it were running normally?

  • Really people?

They are doing that to research the horse, so it DOESN'T get hurt/sick,

I agree horses in SOME circumstances should be able to run and be free, but they aren't alligators,

    They are domesticated animals!

And are used to those treadmills by now!

It's not like they tie the horse down and poke it with a stick,

It's simply research! It's good for the horse!

If a horse trips with one foot, it has the other three to catch it with!

Please know what you are talking about before you start

  • @JustDoIt2911 Actually you're wrong, they're not doing research so that they don't get hurt/sick. They're looking at race horses which are not fast enough on the track or whose performance is slipping, so they're looking for possible problems. It doesn't have anything to do with prevention, unless of course they start a whole research study. They're working with individual horses on speed and athletic ability so that they can perform on the race track.

  • @shiiuza They said it in the video that they're using it for research and for evaluating a race horse if they're sick or not performing like they used too. Didn't you watch the video? I guess not.

  • @musicaddict3354 It's common knowledge in the horse world that they use treadmills to examine race horses for problems. One common example is a race horse whose performance has started slipping. After a vet check comes back normal, they stick him on a treadmill so that they can monitor his breathing. They then find out there is a problem with oxygen being delivered to the blood stream, cause poor performance. Ever been part of the horse world? I guess not.

  • @shiiuza That's not what this video is about though. I understand that you're making a general statement but you're wrong to say JustDoIy2911 is wrong. She is very accurate and she's commenting about THIS VIDEO.

  • @musicaddict3354 Oh please, are you seriously arguing with someone you don't even know over the internet? On youtube? On a video about HORSES ON A TREADMILL?

  • Oh perfect, just stick a needle in me while I'm galloping. All my muscles won't get hurt bumping against it while I'm at my top speed.

Anywho, I think this is a great opportunity for students, and good for horses without pastures!

  • its an actual Dyno!! so.... how many hourse power? I guess 1hp..

  • ... how did i get from listening to rock music to this????

  • you notice the lady with the whip thing at 0:50

  • very horse-like...

  • I don't see why everytime I look at the comments some perinoid person has to come in say everything is abuse get over it! It wouldn't be legal if it was abuse yes I agree there are risks but really come on there's a risk to everything and only perinoid people have to come around and point out everything I'm mean be careful I might brake a finger while writing this -_-

  • GIVE IT STEROIDS!!

  • would asses shut up and watch the video there is obviously nothing you idiots can do about it

  • what a way to futurise animal testing you pigs!

  • @TheMilkMan252

if you just called that a leash, your opinion is clearly invalid here..

  • @sayneigh29

Haha that made me laugh :) They have a fair point but I kinda agree with you!

  • I have an idea. how bout you just ride the thing?

  • They are veterinarians and they obviously know what they are doing.

  • this seems more abusive than anything, even if that isn't the intention.

  • The front hoves look cracked. Might need to trim them or file them down... My horse's hoves get that way sometimes too.

  • Well, wouldn't that be wonderful. Having a camera shoved down your throat while your trying to breath and run at 23 miles an hour. AWESOME!

  • @goodolboys530 omg i know!!! there HAS to be a better way to do this.... lol

  • @goodolboys530 wouldnt mind if it would reveal a deadly desise that can be cured ;)

  • @goodolboys530 and having blood drawn while running too -__- i can't even get blood drawn when im sitting still.

  • @goodolboys530 You're reading way too much into it.

  • @Nizingur You run 35 miles an hour with a 3 inch tube in your throat and see how "into it" you are. It's just not a good technique.. There isn't anything else this is trying to say. I couldn't get any less into it.

  • @goodolboys530 First off, it's not a three-inch tube. Do you know how much three inches is? Secondly, it's not down their throat. THIRDLY, this is diagnostic research of a horse that has a medical PROBLEM, and they're trying to diagnose it! Why spend your time criticising a medical diagnostical method when you have no idea what you're talking about?

  • @Nizingur Do you know how big a horses throat is? The tube is about an inch and a half. And if it's not down their throat where is it? Their ass? No stupid.. It's down their throat. This horse does not have a medical problem the video said RESEARCH. Pointless un-comforting research. This is YouTube no one on here is going to be a professional and know it all... You don't know what you're talking about either. I was simply concerned for the horse which obviously they are not.

  • @goodolboys530 When you first say three-inch tube and then say one and a half, I'm not inclined to believe any kind of figure you come up with because we know that you don't have a tendency to tell the truth. Secondly, it's not pointless research, it's medical diagnostics of horses that have airway problems. People don't tend to deal with medical diagnostics when they're not concerned about a horse's health. Calm the hell down.

  • @Nizingur I was exaggerating you stupid fuck. And there is no "calming the hell down" needed because I'm not riled up. I just made a statement that they should find another way to research this for the comfort of the horse... You're the one making a big deal about it. And apparently 31 other people agree with me... I don't see any likes on your comments.

  • That doesn't look safe at all. Also if the horse spooked damn that'd be bad. I really hope they are confident and know what they are doing. I think some research can get a little risky. I just hope this all goes well. I trust OSU though....

  • παπαρια..

  • You do realize that they have someone there holding the rope so if something goes wrong they can just pull it and it comes loose. It's called a tie and release knot. Mabye try brushing up on your horse facts again. You have to remember these are trained professionals they wouldn't b doing this if they knew it wasnt safe.

  • OMG wht the hell never ever tie a lead rope to the pole while hes running it could cause a very seriouse accident...........you guys should be responsible enough to know that........ im only 12 i know better than that

  • im so trie the horses sayed

  • I know it's not abuse at all. Not even close. But I'd be a nervous wreck if that was my horse. >.<

  • @a1rzf0rc3- I agree. There should be a hardness and safety. If it tripped in could injure it's self our even worse...

  • horse + treadmille + Leash = Dead horse.

  • it'd be funny if after being on for 35mph it suddenly stopped, it'd probably look like that one family guy episode XDDD

  • people the horse is not being abused its a racehorse they are meant for RUNNING!!!!

  • worlds best hamburger?

    /watch?v=l8ZiKUUs0uA

  • The horse is fine. If the horse didn't want to be there everyone in that room would know it.

  • the bottom of the treadmill is to hard for the horse...that can hurt his/her feet

  • That's animal abuse!

  • @catbus7horselover11 how is that animal abuse they are exercising the horse like they should be EXERCISE !!! NOT ABUSE !!!!!!!! :(

  • isnt the ground too hard for the horse to canter/gallop on :/

  • lol there's actually an university/school called OSU!?

  • they need to put bell boots and leg guards on the horses feet. you don't want them to get hurt going that fast for that long

  • @crazywatergirl923 bell boots are so horses don't pull shoes off, and leggaurds are proven not to work, and polos are for jumping to cusiun if the horse hits a jump.

  • @9Run9Mad9Girl9Run9 well do you see the horse jumping? no. do you see the horse running? yes so they need bell boots so they DON'T pull their shoes off. leg guards protect the bottom of their legs so they don't hit each other while running. so YES they do need leg guards. you wanna prove that leg guards don't work then show me your data. And come on learn to spell 'cushion' or look it up.

  • Why in the top comments i can see : "damn, feel bad for the poor horse" This horse is so well treated and seems very happy to go on the threadmill!! Stop thinking that animals are mistreatened!

  • Man I would love that if I were that horse!

  • Awwkwaaard

  • canines, felines, bovine, and the equine, truly they live up to their reputation of being the Noble Beasts.

  • If it was bad for the horse people wouldn't spend millions building treadmills for them, these treadmills have saved lives by re-rehabilitating and providing exercise in cramped conditions

  • This isn't good for them due to the hard ground though it isn't bad. Researching is very important for horses in the sport horse world. You need to see thats what they are doing is looking on how to improve the horses heath and breathing issues that a lot of horses have when worked under hard conditions.

  • awful people are you! this is bad for the horse! you dreadful guys!

  • ON A WALLABE

  • you ignorant stupid bitch!! - she says: horses love treadmills! - every horse problem or disease would be removed if horse could live in species appropriate keeping, and no riding and torturing on such way like here... horses love grass and freedom, not treadmills.

  • @mdjidara Are you one of those chicks who ride a horse and hate everything else what people do to them? if you are go fuck yourself. Horses should be left as they were when they were wild.

  • @bennett475 Equestrians love horses. Why do you think we ride?

  • @bennett475 no! I do not ride! and I do not "use" my horses. They just are here and live their life in the way nature intended it.

  • @mdjidara Horses are domestic animals. They've been born to serve humans for thousands of years. Sure, there are feral horses living 'free' in certain areas, but you can see the effect overpopulation and diminishing of habitat has on them. Dogs in captivity don't long to be free, and neither do horses. If you knew anything about horses, you would know that modern day horses are not designed to live in the wild. So perhaps you should go rant about something you actually know about.

  • @CaliforniaBlonde000 I think that you should maybe first educate yourself more on subject, than check with who you are talking to before pointing out that someone does not know anything. All that you are saying is not true (according to scientific proofs). Offcourse your horse does not want freedom because he is probably raised in a brainwashing manner. And you cannot compare it with dogs which are completely different animals in behavior. And yes- modern horses are designed to live in nature!

  • Respond to this video... And if you really doubt my informing - I have horses, "modern horses", raised in classical ways, turned to species appropriate keeping, and they live like they never have been in previous conditions like in stables. And guess what - they don's like captivity! They are 24/7 outside, never ridden, one 6 yr mare never broken or used, never forced on anything, and guess what - she is example that horses belong to nature!

  • @mdjidara Then what is the point in having your horse if you do nothing with them this is my opion a horse should atleast be ridin three days each week and they should be well behaved and have manners

  • @4horsescrzy The point of the treadmill is to check for issues the horse may have WHILE running.....which could mean the difference between a good run or a a run that causes a serious injury that could lead to it being put down. Not that being ridden by a human could be considered a very natural instance for a horse anyways. ;)

  • Ah ok I see what you mean.

  • That is amazing but I wouldn't want to do that to a horse

  • WHY AM I WATCHING A HORSE ON A TREADMILL

  • Check out "Shrimp on a treadmill"

  • Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, if it tripped it would probably get seriously hurt with that leash tied to the thing.

  • @TheMilkMan252 There's nothing on a flat treadmill to make it trip.

  • @CDeanWatcher Horses can't make mistakes?

  • @TheMilkMan252 I'm thinking 4-legged animals don't trip on a flat surface with no turns, such as a treadmill. If they "trip" on one leg, they can recover on the other three. I'm sure they don't go very fast until they're totally used to the thing.

  • @TheMilkMan252 first thing i noticd aswell...

  • @TheMilkMan252 horses don't trip unless they are seriously tired or the ground is uneven/rocky/very muddy or wtvr...

  • @TheMilkMan252 I own horses and have tied them to many "leashes"....we call them leads.....if a horse pulls back on one of those, the metal clasp would break like a piece of licorice....remember that horses weigh typically 1000lbs or more.

  • @squeakbrat Ah, good to know.

  • @TheMilkMan252 its called a lead rope not a leash and horses dont trip very much so learn your facts before you jump to conclusions. if it wasnt safe they wouldnt do it

  • @breyerhorsegirl37acutally ur wrong . yest its called a lead rope but horses can trip often if there is something wrong with them, or there just clumsy. Do not tell this person to learn your facts before u jump to conclusions becasue he did nothing wrong . and there is a risk , theres a risk with everything , what if the horse freaks out on it ? hmm what if u were in there shoes . its porbably a safety knot but still theres a risk so how bout u dont jump to conclusions when u dont have an answer

  • @jonasbrotherfan184 Exactly what I was trying to say. There are too many factors.

  • @08dressageGal yah! like yes they probably have safety procations but anything is possible . i have a horse at our barn 17.2 h warmblood cross and he trips like there is no tomorrow but hies just clumsy and he dosent really pick up his feet. what if he was on the treadmill ? he could eaisly get hurt

  • what would happen if the horse tripped

  • @showjumper411 yer that's a point, I bet they crank it right up when no-ones looking

  • @showjumper411 really?

  • he was telling you to speed it up

  • a walabee. well that was random

  • if i was a horse, and those people would but a camra in my nose.... i would so bite them :)

  • Freaky....

  • WOW! Other animals besides humans can adapt! This dumb.

  • I wonder if they ride the horse....

  • Some people have sex with horses... WTF?!?

  • @GoldBoy7GG that is so dumb and not true because a human would die if they did that with a horse.

  • @elinheartstristin lmao, you're so silly :) It's called beastiality and that's porn where they actually have sex with horses dogs, even snakes o.o So yeah, it's a fact so.. yeah

  • @elinheartstristin na dude.they actually have videos of it on the internet lol

  • @GoldBoy7GG they sure do 2men1horse(dot)com

  • i wonder what it would feel like to ride her on the tread mill...haha

  • Comment removed

  • @bobmaxiao How's it poor? She likes it

  • @bobmaxiao it does not bother them. they accually really love to do it. it can end up saving their lives. it does nut hurt them at all. its very safe.

  • @bobmaxiao SUCK A TOE FAG

  • @bobmaxiao Why would you feel bad for the horse? It's not hurting them at all. It gives them the exercise they need, in a safe, monitored environment to better track their health. Horses, especially racehorses, love to run too. There's nothing negative to say about this.

  • @bobmaxiao Why? Horses enjoy running.

  • @bobmaxiao How? The horse looked calm and relaxed. It probably enjoyed the treadmill. It's just like going out for a ride, except you don't have to deal with the weight of a saddle and person on you

  • @bobmaxiao Why? She's running, that's what that bred of horse does, ALL THE DAMN TIME. And not the "race horses" there's a Thoroughbred at my barn and that little mare NEVER stops. I'm sure that mare on the treadmill loves it cause she can run as fast as she can and no on is there pulling on her mouth.

  • @bobmaxiao

If you listened, the news reporter and the other researcher(?) said that the horse loved running. And of course that breed.. Just runs. Thats the breed. :L

  • @SharlaineVolesque i agree, its a race horse people they RUNNNN !!!

  • horses dont breathe through their mouth so a bit doesnt make the slightest difference @DINAHLUCIA

  • they have problems with their breathing becourse they have bits in their mouths

  • @DINAHLUCIA horses breathe through their nostrils...

  • thats cool but what if the horse fell and got caught ?? :)

  • @teboismyhorse they could prob turn it off quickly

  • @teboismyhorse "Clunk, clunk, clunk, clop, WOP - CRUNK, clopp, neehhhh"

  • more things obviously need to happen in oregon. breakin news! cat cleans itself.

  • @DavidFouhy lol

  • This is so un-natural :-/

  • @iResistant the thing is, Usin a treadmill helps the researchers find thins that could not be seen from distance, like on a race track. It may be un natural, but who ever said it was bad?

  • @xXkeyotaXx I understand that and all but i dont think its right when animals are put onto machines.

  • @iResistant the only time you need to worry is when you see people beatin the hrose to death on the treadmill and the horse bein abused by it, i see no cases of abuse here, and it helps the horse.

  • @xXkeyotaXx well if it helps the horse, fair enough :)

  • i hear a train in the backround

  • yes we can actuly remove the front hoves of the horse while it galloping to see if theres any difference that a horse thats not moving at all........ lol there getting there

  • This should be an old spice commercial........ I'm on horse.....backwards...... on a treadmill - and now its a Wallaby !

  • Treadmills without bellyband slings are terrifying. It's a simple, and essentially cheap safety precaution - they're just there if the horse trips (which does happen), stumbles, or there's a malfunction in the machine, etc. Otherwise a great video.

  • how do you know when they are tired and to stop.

  • @carking777 most of the time when the horse is just bieng dragged they just stop it then.

  • @carking777 Obviously there are physical signs of fatigue, which as they said, can be easily observed closely while they're on the tredmill. Excessive sweating, heavy breathing, etc. Also just common sense and knowing horse's limits. I'm sure they do warm ups and cool downs, and don't keep them at a full gallop for more than a few minutes at a time.

  • that's not a horse... it's a broom.

  • what happens if the horse decides to just stop and the treadmill keeps going full speed???? dont wanna see that happen...

  • Its like a horsie stress test!

  • i like it! :)

  • He's shit on the exercise bike though...

  • @MKShaggy1985 bahahahaa

  • a hores on a treadmill?

  • 0:56 Blue screen!

  • this seems curl

  • @jathomas0910 "this seems curl" very curly indeed, but i dont know if horses have curls but they could :)

  • guys thats nothing my horse runs in a giant hamster wheel

  • When does it fall over?

  • now I have seen everything:o

  • @myroutine have you seen a man eat his own face? then u havent seen everything.

  • at first i was like :Ocruel....but the horse seems to enjoy it! and it seems so beneficial.

  • it would be a good way to learn how to properbly ride a horse. they would feed them proper food not proceced crap i think its a good thing because if the horse didnt like it you would no. its a good thing like they said about throat problems and things like that

  • aawwww thats very smart :) very cute horse x

  • great way to excercise and get it ready for a race, much better than forcing it to eat food that has medicine or watever they put in it

  • i love horses :)

  • awwww

  • atcually treadmill use is a good way for trainers working on thoroughbreds because they are training so many horses that this will save time. so fuck off. plus this is for research, the horse isnt starving. its actually in good shape. learn more about horses before u open ur mouths you dumb fucks. with this research, they can help horses with things in the future...not just exercise.

  • Oh wonderful now they are forcing animals to eat processed food and forcing them to do unnatural things to remain in shape. So stupid.

  • @777TylerJB How is it unnatural?
