Remember, Baryshnikov was heavily criticized in Russia because he was too short, not "princely" enough for the Kirov. As for being "pulled up" have you seen Vasiliev's six outside attitude pirouettes in "Don Q"? That's pretty damned pulled up.

This exciting performance is raw talent and is perfect for the role. It's Flames of Pairs ffs not an RAD elementary exam. You can't pull triple tours and multiple pirouettes if you aren't pulling up btw.

If you ever get an opportunity to see him perform, you will not be disappointed. He is only 21 years old----we can watch for years. We recently saw him at the Kennedy Center in Spartacus.

Surely in Russia it will be noticed that he just made this role uniquely his own, and promoted himself to that height at which dancers are not compared, they are simply treasured.

I can bet that if you asking him to turn out and pull up and be more elegant he wouldn't be able to do half of the stuff he does.
