I liked the American promo better. Maybe it's the music. I think she's temporarily "dumping him" because she's going to make a vow to God that she'll leave him alone if he survives the accident (she blames herself?). I think that's part of the plot of the movie the title of the episode is based on, if I'm remembering correctly. Also, there's a question mark in the title, "The End of the Affair?", which makes me think it's not over yet.
