Man, this game is utter nostalgia for being the first game I ever played. (Heck, I'm playing it right now.) I remember Slime Climb being difficult for me.
I must agree. Donkey Kong Country 2 (As well as 1 & 3) was one of those games that made good use of the SNES graphics engine. Replicating it on an 8-bit GB (original no less) must have been difficult.
I did it to skip a TON of blast barrels. In order to get to the part around 1:17 without getting hit, you had to go through a lot of them, which takes up a lot of time...
Maybe I'll spend like four hours mapping out this level to show everybody what the entire level looks like...
Well, those three barrels don't blast you until you hit A. I kept hitting A very fast, so I went faster than the screen could handle. Because of that, I went so fast that the third blast barrel showed up too late and I was already past it. The Game Boy is a slow system...
I wonder if Rare ever remade this for Game Boy Color like they did with DKL3, it probably wouldn't have this glitch... after all, the GBC version of DKL3 has less lag than the GB version.
every level in this game has it,s own limmited colors, but it,s realy hard to distinguange the enemy,s from object,s and levels.
alltrough playing this game on the gbc, makes the enemy,s distingeble from objects and levels, since they have other colors than the levels, but instead all levels will have the same color.
i just use my magination, for how it should be, if this game was made in full color on gbc. would be impressive.
All right people, the next time someone comments on the green, I'll just tell them to download a patch that turns the green to brown (and the yellow to purple). Basically it looks like Screech's Sprint in DKC2 (SNES).
I wonder why Bramble Blast is in Krazy Kremland? It's supposed to be in Krem Cauldron? Mabye they wanted to shorten Krem Cauldron by 1 level because Krem Cauldron is like Croccodile Cauldron and Krem Quay combined! This makes Krem Cauldron the longest world in Donkey Kong Country history! BTW, you did a awesome job!
Get the normal one its awesome but this looks awesome in 8 bit lol I STILL have my Donkey kong country 2 and one NIB. I still play it on my GBA

this is pretty sick. I've heard of Donkey Kong Land before, but I didn't know they ported a SNES game to the GB.

Or are you asking how I went past that barrel right before I got hit?
Blaziken257 3 years ago
Yeah, how did you got past the barrel before you got hit. Guess the barrel wasn't in the game memory when you passed it until it showed up.
talaivaneizer 3 years ago 2

Just one thing to say: Green. Lots and lots of green.
Nice job on the shortcuts, dude. :)
AngelChao90 4 years ago
Well, that's the Super Game Boy for you. It's weaker than other 8-bit color systems, like NES or Game Boy Color. The green is unique though <_<
And the shortcuts made this level more fun to speed run than most other levels in this game. Thanks :)
Blaziken257 4 years ago
Welcome. :)
AngelChao90 4 years ago
great work ,but i have discovered that it is impossible to change the color pallet in dkl2 and 3 on sgb cuzz rare have block that feature, stupid rare.
unlike dkl 1 wich you can change the color pallet.
alltrough on gbc you can do with all the dkl sequels etc,,

MASTERLINKX100 4 years ago
It's still in Krazy Kremland. But this time, it's right AFTER Rickety Race.
Blaziken257 4 years ago
I wonder why Bramble Blast is in Krazy Kremland? It's supposed to be in Krem Cauldron? Mabye they wanted to shorten Krem Cauldron by 1 level because Krem Cauldron is like Croccodile Cauldron and Krem Quay combined! This makes Krem Cauldron the longest world in Donkey Kong Country history! BTW, you did a awesome job!
ultimategamer1457 4 years ago
Yeah, that's my guess to why they moved it to Krazy Kremland.
And as for why they combined Crocodile Cauldron and Krem Quay, my guess is that Rare was too lazy to include Kudgel.
