I was watching a bullfight on TV there when a matador got tossed up into the air about 12 feet by the bull...matador landed directly with his anus on the bulls horn! I was about 8 when I saw this, and I remember it like it was yesterday. That matador was running around all over the bullring like a little sissy grl, and sounded like a soprano. Looks like the bull turned his exit only hole into a dual entryand exit hole!! Score one for the bull!

I lived there IN Spain for 4 years as a kid, in the 70's. Grew up there, Dad was USAF,(Torrejon AB, Madrid) This was a normal part of what they did there!! Bullfights were routinely televised every Tues and Thurs nights! One had to be at least age 12 to get into the arena however. We didnt have all the fancy computer games, or Nintendo, or any of that stuff back then. If you dont like Bullfighting, then dont watch it! For me, I dont care either way. I was used to it. BTW, they DO use the beef.

Bullfights were aired evry Tues and Thurs nights, and you had to be at least age 12 into get in to the "Plaza de Toros De Madrid". Whenever our mom's went downtown and bought lladros, we kids were always given "Bullfighting" posters from the lladro store owners. Im not makn excuses for t, I was forced to live their for 3-4 yrs as a kid and it sucked BAD!!

i lived in spain for plenty of years. Not many spaniards like bullfighting. If you notice, bull rings have capacity of only around 5,000 people and even then most have empty seats. Most bullrings have been demolished around spain for more important uses, some remain as "cultural sites" but ae used maybe once or twice a year. Furthermore the Spanish culture is actually quite enlightened, gay marriage is legalized and the people live a really happy healthy lifestyle. If Bullfighting is the worst thing in practice in such a beautiful and rich country, one that has flourished since the middle ages, I think Spain's doing ok.

Fox hunting is part of the culture here, but it is no longer legal. Bear , and bull baiting were part of the culture too, as was hang,drawing and quatering humans,but we don't allow those any more, many would say our culture has improved. @thirlestanelodge2 Never heard of Auto de fay. As far as their tv, it only came on from 6-9pm at night. Bullfights were aired evry Tues and Thurs nights, and you had to be at least age 12 into get in to the "Plaza de Toros De Madrid". Whenever our mom's went downtown and bought lladros, we kids were always given "Bullfighting" posters from the lladro store owners. Im not makn excuses for t, I was forced to live their for 3-4 yrs as a kid and it sucked BAD!!

Auto De Fe,' Act Of Faith', was the trail of the prisoners of the inquisition. Things like having your hand put into a fire, if it didn't burn you were guilty and you were burned alive,if it did burn you were innoccent, but had had your hand destroyed.
Spain is not like you remember , like the rest of Europe , it has become Americanized.

He has had his vocal chords cut too, so he can't scream in terror, though he is no doubt terrified. At the bull fight I was at the same thing happened, it is usual, but the bulls horn eviserated the horse.
Could you explain how the bull is "implicated"? What has he done to deserve being tortued to death?

i lived in spain for plenty of years. Not many spaniards like bullfighting. If you notice, bull rings have capacity of only around 5,000 people and even then most have empty seats. Most bullrings have been demolished around spain for more important uses, some remain as "cultural sites" but ae used maybe once or twice a year. Most who go there are old people who have yet to get with the times. Bullfighting is stupid and i wouldn't care if they did it if they didn't kill the animal. TYT are idiots

Yes some plazas have closed, but not many.My friend in Barcelona tried to tell me the plaza there had closed down, as it was no longer acceptable, I had been there days before and seen a corrida.So you must take the excuses with a pinch of salt. That one has closed now, as in Cataluna, the law has changed and bullfights are illegal.But in the south of Spain, every town has a bull ring in use.They look half empty because no one sits in the sun

Cows are force fed and prevented from moving so they grow ridiculously large, stupidly quickly. In many cases causing their undeveloped bones to snap under their own weight. Veel cattle, will never even see sunlight
and its worse for dairy cows. They are kept in constant pregnancy cycles so they stay milking and their calves are either slaughtered at birth or put into the same life

@ConfucianScholar This is a very primitive practice, but most Spaniards especially the younger generations are not in favor of bullfighting. Furthermore the Spanish culture is actually quite enlightened, gay marriage is legalized and the people live a really happy healthy lifestyle. If Bullfighting is the worst thing in practice in such a beautiful and rich country, one that has flourished since the middle ages, I think Spain's doing ok.
