@MrSnareplaya No. They are called egg beaters, made by Crank Brothers. They require a special cleat that comes with the pedal though this cleat is compatible with other Crank Brothers pedals. Keep in mind these did not come with the bike I bought them seperately.
@duperman91 You'll want to grease bolts and such. Don't forget you'll be needing your own pedals. And as far as tune up goes I had to make small derailleur adjustments, pump up the fork, lube the chain. Nothing major. Essentially comes ready to ride.
@pkb4112 haha you may not have known what I meant but you answered what I was asking. I meant fork pump, dunno why I transposed it but by special I meant are they brand specific.
@pkb4112 I went with the 16 and I'm 5'9". I couldn't bear to wait any more and pulled the trigger before your reply. I thought for sure yours was a 16 also and you were around 5'8"-5'9". In the pictures, it appeared that way. I fought back and forth with the 16 and 18 but figured the 16 would be easier to handle and the geometry also matched almost exactly the 18 I drove before I got the Fly Pro. If wrong, I would just lose $50-60 to send it back for a 18. It fit, so all is good.
It's a shame that so many LBSs and bike snobs pooh pooh Motobecane bikes because they're sold through BikesDirect. I even heard of some owners scraping off the Motobecane decals to avoid being put down by friends who overpaid for more popular brands with far worse components (just ridiculous). The Motobecane Fly series and Ti road bikes are damn good machines and come with components that beat anything out there for the price. BD's low cost is due to their business model; not to cheap materials.
@ppolymer did not weigh it but wouldn't be surprised if it is. It is very light. however the tires they ship are very light, and pretty much crap for most people. So switching them out for heavier tires will make a difference right off the bat.
hope you have better luck than me. my SID RLT came defective. BikesDirect wasn't much help. Had to take to REI, pay money, and wait 2 weeks to get it warrantied.
@SGKproductions09 absolutely. I have personally bought two bikes from them and they are both great. I have heard only good things from many others as well. most of the time the only thing that ever goes wrong is with shipping, and that's UPS not bikesdirect. and even when this happens, bikesdirect replaces what ever is damaged for free. so you can't go wrong, they are really great.
i love it. Really light, and I also made some small upgrades too it. (Tires, grips, seat post) If you wanna take a look at some of my latest MTB videos on my channel I am riding this bike.
Next time I get a bike I will order from them. It's probably a good experience to put the bike together to become 1 with your bike. I build computers but I guess I'll learn to build a bike.
@bedevere007 putting the bike together is really nothing to be worried about. it was my first time putting one together in this video. If you can turn a screw driver you can assemble the bike. You only need to put on the handlebars the brakes (rotors and calipers, not cables/hoses) and the front wheel..and seat. It's really easy. Or you can support your LBS after buying a bike online by bringing it to them to assemble it for you.
thanks for the vid,is this your first mountain bike, can you give me a detail of the quality of a motobecane as opposed to say a trek or cannondale. thanks and happy ridin.
@ENOCH1611 They have much higher level components than a trek or canondale of equal price. The overall bike is much lighter as well. I'm extremely happy with my bike, I never would have gotten an equal level trek, specialized, or canondale for the same price.

@pkb4112 did you have to buy a special pump fork?
froochie123 1 week ago
@froochie123 I'm not sure what you mean by "special". But you do need to buy a fork pump. But any fork pump will do, it's just a schrader valve.

Just a FYI for future buyers the white lettering on the side is now red and not filled in but just a thin red outline around the lettering.

also oil your bicycle brake cables and the levers. the best oil brand I used is triflow . triflow also works to lubricate your chain.
