My computer blue screens me as soon as i overclock to 4 GHz. I have a GTX 460, 12gb ddr3, and a 550watt power supply. My cooler is the corsair H50. Do you think thats the problems? It doesnt matter if i increase the voltage, because it still does it. Do you think the PSU is the problem? Thanks!
@fsxsimmer20 first try without incrasing the voltage, with "auto" or "Default" voltage i can overclock my 1075t to 4ghz no problem as soon as i go over that i need to incrase it so try leaving the voltage at default or just a little bit past it and see if it helps. 550watt seems quite low but i dont know how much a 460 consume, better try prime95 it will max the cpu only and no other components during testing
Hello I have a question. Currently I run my 1090T @ 3.6ghz on water and at a auto voltage. CPU-Z says it's around 1.44V (fluctuates +/- 0.02V). I recently pushed to 4Ghz with multiplier only and +0.1V so it's around 1.54V. I still get the occasional bsod so I believe more voltage would be required to make it stable but the safe working voltage is 1.55V, am I stuck with a crappy bach cpu that can only go upto 3.8ghz stable? :(
@jazza2400 Your CPU is supposed to easily work till 3.6GHz with stock voltage and cooling. At least mine does. 1.55v is too much for a 3.6GHz OC. You might want to check whether the BSOD is because of your CPU alone or something else. DO you get a BSOD on stock clocks?
@gogiet Well, I'd definitely not recommend overclocking/overvolting the RAM......RAM is very easy to blow up and even a huge increase in RAM speed is not going to affect your performance much at all. For example a 20% increase in RAM frequency will probably give you a 2% increase in overall performance. It's better you OC your CPU or GPU. They're safer too.
@Foristality I know what I'm doing. if u check cpu-z on stock 3.2 GHz and then run 6 threads of prime95 u can easily see the voltage climbs to 1.44V. So if AMD approve of 1.44....then i can easily approve 1.5.
@Foristality Ya i did...about $275. I don't stay at 4.2 GHz ALL the time.....most of the time i'm at 2GHz but when i'm encoding videos or doing some benchmarking i go over 4.0 which is like 30-35% of the time. So not too much of a concern there.
@JustCallMeJoel It is absolutely perfect combination for gaming! But if u r looking for a well rounded system then i would suggest either a Overclocked 6970 or if want 2x6970 then.....look at sumthin like the intel 2600k, 970 or 990x
@WindowsSoftwareDe only Sinclair 128 or Atari2600 can overclock ,comodor 64 is hard to over clock :)))) beforwe over clocking u should and play much time with ur gameboy after that come here :))
@KoochosDubStep Yea..at least better than the stock cooler...it's be down by about 10-15C cooler at the max...i suggest you save up and buy a corsair H70.
as 1 cpu its hexacore what you show me in your video and a octacore cpu was very usefull the hexacore is now very cheap low price let see if amd will doing faster i cant wait to see first octacore cpu's
no no you dont must be a i7 cpu but wait a time they make or buy a server mainboard for 2 or 4 cpu support and you easy have it cost more money and all but you have it im in right ?
@mimic58 1.5 is just fine if u r using it at 30C room temp and not more than 2-3 hrs a day. I'm using the stock cooler and max temp is no more than 70C
@evolutionpr nope......70C is not exactly killing the cpu.....it depends on your opinion. If u want your comp for the nxt 9-10 yrs with 5hrs+ each day then yea it is killing the cpu. but if u have a usage of less than 2hrs a day or want to change ur comp in the nxt 2-3 or mayb 5 yrs max....then no prob. And chances of u running it in prime95 like conditions r very low....c'mon tell me which software uses a 1090T at 4.2Ghz at 100%?? so hope u got it...
650W is definitely on the high end for a gaming system. I've run a GTX 260 and 9800GT before on a Corsair 550W with a power adapter.
I'd also be a bit weary of high VCores on this board. I have one myself and purposely keep the OC low at 3.4 GHz. The issue lies in MSI's decision to use 4+1 power phase. With 125W CPUs (meaning just the x6s), this overloads the MOSFETs and causes them to blow, even if they're under a heatsink.
@r31ncarnat3d yea i know it has a 4+1 phase, but the cpu can b supplied with 140W right?? Or that's what Msi claims. So it shouldn't be a HUGE prob. BUt anyway that's y i didn't recommend this as a 24x7 OC or sumthin, it's just somethin u can use for 2-3 hrs a day optimally.
1.5 in CPUZ we can see llc is overvolting it slightly I would recommend trying it at 1.4 first and work your way up in .5 increments this way you well get the best temps aswell,
@aLieNcrYse The thing is not to be soooooo... precise. As long as it's close, it's fine. the thing is voltage never stays constant and the BIOS may not be perfect. So no prob if it's like 0.5v more. As long as u have enough cooling and power....it's totally fine.
my 1100T is only stable at 4ghz at 1.55v for 8hours of prime. max temp on full load is ~54C. Do you think that this would be a safe 24/7 overclock.... i am experiencing alot of vdoop that's why 1.55 is the lowest 4ghz can work. Any advice?
@Fatpandas2014 If u r REALLY going to keep ur comp on for 24 hrs a day, then i suggest u dont OC more than 10%, as it'll badly reduce ur CPU life. If u run it 24x7x365 at 4ghz and 1.55v, then ur CPU will probably last not more than 1.5 yrs...dont exceed 3.5-3.6. u can do 4ghz for runs upto 3-4 hrs, not more.
@hassanx220 no matter what overclocking u do it will make your cpu have less life cos its being pushed harder but obviously with a low overclock like that it wont affect it much
@hassanx220 1400mhz is fine and is what i run at. Running RAM faster than stock is not advisable though as RAM doesn't come with the iron clad protection that CPUs come with.....so if anything fails, u simply lose ur RAM.
On Windows 7, running vm ware you can run vista, xp and 2000 and still have enough processor usage left to play crysis and run a couple of other programmes.
@imfxxz The thing is games don't use much CPU power, try converting a video WITHOUT GPU acceleration and then run vista, xp ad 2000 in vmware.....it'll be as slow as hell!
@Adityav95 your incorrect your right in one way a 6 core is useless for games cos most games only support 4 cores its all about the clock speed a higher clock speed like 6 cores at 4000 mhz wont be as good as a intel 2600 k 4 core at 4500 mhz clock speed does affect games not hugly but it does
@Adityav95 your correct in another way tho definatly people think its about processor its really not go look for vids of high end processors even if u had a processor of like literally 10000 mhz it wont improve your frame rate much if u only got one shity gfx card explample if u had processor with 6000 mhz overclock and one 580gtx on metro 2033(game) ur fps will be laughable like 20 fps u get 2 cards and ur fps will go to 40 it almost doubles every card u get so yes buy gfx cards not processor
@Adityav95 im using a corsair h50 push pul it gets the job done but i still get spooked by the high temps my cpu seems to be fine past 62 c it easily hits that but wont slow down either my bios sensor is way off or i got a beats of a chip :)
@AboutGaming I suppose u r talking about overclocking the 1090T only.......yes u can, it doesn't matter what GPU or MoBo u r running, just use this vid as a reference and do the stuff. I guess the overclocking page is Ai Tweaker in an asus mobo. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@onedayillpay nope, when fans are set at 100% only the fans in the case run at the speed, not the power supply's. with the 212 cooler u should easily reach 4.2ghz but i'm not so sure about ur 600W PSU though....might not handle the OC, but it depends on ur video card too. if u can tell me which card u use, then i can tell ya.
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M600 RS-600-AMBA-D3 600W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC... maybe you could help me configure a 4.2 over clock with only the turbo core, also id like the fan's rpm to speed up as cpu temp goes up? im thinking a more efficient idle with performance boost when you need it... you ever chat on irc?
@onedayillpay with a gtx460 u can easily take ur cpu to 4.2ghz with no prob. As for ur fan speeding up with temp, give me 2 days i'll get back to u on PM with how to do it.
@scottjohnsonltd the max temp the 1090t can handle safely is about 85C (unofficial) and i reach about 75C after 2-3 hrs of it. But u shouldn't worry as ur CPU is not always at 100% load like in prime95, so no prob running at that speed and temp.
@YmCmbZ use this video as a reference and set ur voltage. i recommend starting from stock voltage and slowly climbing up by 0.05V at a time. But watch out for high temp and don't exceed 1.6V as it may fry ur CPU. at least i wouldn't recommend it. if it's unstable at 1.6V, pls downclock to 4.0 and try again.
Thanks!

@Adityav95 im doesnt approve of 1.44 volts.
go check their website.
the max voltage amd approves is 1.4 volts on their site.
I have my 1090t set at 1.29 volts in bios and it shows 1.36 with cpu z when maxed out.
cpu z gives you the wrong readings. and you clearly didnt even look at your tempratures.
people with high end water cooling kits stay around 1.45 volts.

seeing how you used the same coolermaster 212 cpu fan im confident, i should be able to run at 4.2 ? or at least 4.0ghz with no problem?

@onedayillpay nope, when fans are set at 100% only the fans in the case run at the speed, not the power supply's. with the 212 cooler u should easily reach 4.2ghz but i'm not so sure about ur 600W PSU though....might not handle the OC, but it depends on ur video card too. if u can tell me which card u use, then i can tell ya.

ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MD5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI

As for ur fan speeding up with temp, give me 2 days i'll get back to u on PM with how to do it.

what do you temps run at? when i use prime95 i go over 62 which is the max temp for 1090t
scottjohnsonltd 1 year ago
@scottjohnsonltd the max temp the 1090t can handle safely is about 85C (unofficial) and i reach about 75C after 2-3 hrs of it. But u shouldn't worry as ur CPU is not always at 100% load like in prime95, so no prob running at that speed and temp.

do you need different volt on a crosshair iv formula?
YmCmbZ 1 year ago
@YmCmbZ use this video as a reference and set ur voltage. i recommend starting from stock voltage and slowly climbing up by 0.05V at a time. But watch out for high temp and don't exceed 1.6V as it may fry ur CPU. at least i wouldn't recommend it. if it's unstable at 1.6V, pls downclock to 4.0 and try again.
