You're Right. hard-work and determination got her to where she was, and these orgs. encourage that. In fact those two words are even in some of these orgs.' founding principles. Many great people have passed through BGLOs. What u see here is just some sorors having fun. These videos are filmed by non-greeks. Usually they aren't going to go and watch BGLOs work at a soup kitchen or conduct mentoring programs. The vids u see are filmed at spectator events. Look at the national or chapter site.

I showed these responses to a sorority sister who was taken aback. She let me know that the people responding may be one of 2 things...undergrads or not members at all. She enlightened me on the purpose of the org. and let me know that she also finds some of the dances a bit provocative and unnecessary. But I shouldn't be discouraged b-cuz it's not a requirement to stroll. As for Collegeboundin09, by far you have given the most civilized response. For that, thank you.

@ishaneece what u saw is them showing off. there's a popularity contest with most things in life. the more people they have the more they can do. so they shimmer and shake to get noticed so more girls will flock to their organization. but once your in, it becomes about community service, making your grades because where i'm from you need at least a 2.8 and most of the girls exceed that, and its about sisterhood and friendship. that strolling and partying they do is for fun and advertisement.

But at the end it just boils down to certain individuals, yards, and chapters that make a big deal. For me as a member of DST we had a lot of Greek love on our yard, period.
