Yes, never had Muawiya(ra) or Hazrat Ali(ra) come to hate each other..they are no hadeeth where they mentioned anything about the other being a kafir..infact, when the Byzantine king offered help to Muawiya(ra) or he would attack, Muawiya(ra) replied that he would mend his differences with his cousin Ali(ra) and push u out of ur land..

And Hazrat Ali(ra) set an example for u guys by respectfully seeing off the Mother of the Believers even after the war..

i meant we both would agree that people have attributed lies even in the Prophet's(pbuh) name..many hadeeths were made up falsely and claimed to be sayings of the Prophet(pbuh)..and our scholars had to weed them out..

Similarly, its quite possible people had attributed false lies against Hazrat Ali(ra) and his successors..If Ali(ra) hated the first 3 Caliphs, he would have never accepted their rule and took part in their decision-making like he did..

firstly when Abu Baker took the calip Ali stood up against it and said it was not for you to take so he said something about it but as history shows he said that i will be patient for my right so we dont let muslims fight that was the PROPHET(S) message to Ali so he was not 100% accepting of what happened

but even then he was close to Hazrat Umar(ra) and took part with him in decision-making of the State..and he helped Hazrat Umar(ra) in establishing firm rule over lands conquered after the Prophet(pbuh)..and he even sent his sons to protect Hazrat Usman(ra) from Kharijis..

its only because Hazrat Ali(ra) felt upset as his opinion was not asked to elect the first Caliph, but after a few months he did confirm Hazrat Abu Bakr's(ra) leadership over him..

you see this is were our history is different ali and umar did not get along and that is why ali left mecca and went to iraq in the time of umar even though he was not the leader nor sent with authoraty

He did accept the authority of Hazrat Umar(ra)..There are numerous examples of him helping the Caliph in judicial matters too..

Ali not only took the oath of allegiance to Umar but also married his daughter Umm Kulthum to Umar..
