  • I read many of the early songs were written for Cynthia, was this one of them.

  • Music Teacher Mr McCartney 69 from the Wirral expressed his regards today on hearing of the passing of Mr Lennon aged 71. Although it had been some years Mr McCartney recalled how they had been close friends who had formed a group during the skiffle craze of the late 50s, he said "Yeah we really felt like we had something going until we decided to pack all those silly guitars up". Mr Harrison 68 a mechanic from Allerton who also played guitar in the group said he was "saddened" to hear the news.

  • @MrMooncatproductions Mr. Peter Best, upon hearing the news, said "Well, you know, everybody's got something to hide, except, of course, me and my monkey."

  • Man I LOVE this song gets me everytime.

  • Loved the Beatles all the way since Oct 1962 when I first heard Love Me Do, but this song was always one of the great favourites. One and Only. Yeah.

  • This just makes me a big :D on my face...

  • This song is, plainly, just beautiful. I love it. I love, you, John Lennon.

  • Yes, some of their early stuff is a bit of a spin off of Buddy Holly. Some is not and it has a bit of rockability to it. One thing they all have in common: great melody and a fantastic hook.

  • Just discovering The Beatles for the first time, this one sounds like an ode to Buddy Holly.

  • @alexparker100 Buddy Holly was certainly one of their early influences. Look more into the Beatles, you won't be disappointed.

  • Anyone else notice that the picture says mono but this is stereo???

  • @scarface12347 Your are right.

  • The early music was incredibly tight with harmonies that built on each other. Their lesser known early material shows really what set them apart from the competition at the time.

  • I think their early stuff is the best, before they got into that psychedelia. But honestly, there isn't a single beatles song I don't like. that's why they are the greatest Rock and roll band EVER. period.

  • @classiccarguy93 I'm sorry, but no way is their early stuff their best.

  • @Colliermoose I just think their style was the purest form of rock and roll from 1962-1965. I don't hate their later stuff. ALL of their music changed the face of music forever, undoubtedly. i never said i hated their later stuff.

  • @classiccarguy93 Their early stuff is solid, but I think they're better remembered for being a group who experimented, changed their style, and evolved into something miles better. I just think every album they did from Rubber Soul and onwards (excluding Yellow Submarine) are a lot more original, and have stood the test of time a lot more than their first 4 or 5 albums.

  • Very underrated song.

  • tavistock )

  • Fab

  • Beatles for ever and ever...

  • 11 justin bieber fans

  • @MrJpbartho Nineteen people have thus far fapped off to the mentioning of this kid, who has nothing to do with this song or the Beatles. Congratulate yourselves for being the tools guilty of promoting him here. Give yourselves a hand, right across the face.

  • this song and marihuana = damn it

  • @dombinii ?

  • After Paul with "Ps I love you" is this song with John singint. Simple song, poem and romantic. No prophanity

  • BEATLES ALL THE WAY!!!! :D

  • John to Brian Epstein..."You mind the percentages...We'll take care of the music."

  • I'm in love with this song XD It's just amazing how The Beatles created such beatiful lyrics and melodies. I can't help it, I'm listening to this after all !

  • i love this song, it makes me cry they were the best and they will, my favorites george and paul.

  • 9 people didn't like this song.Ask them why!

  • @iw32 Is simple and don't worry about it they are deaf or they are sick as simple as that

  • @iw32

there's no please pleasing some people.

  • @norristerse LOL!

  • If it was Starkey he dropped some beats at the first chorus + the end and he doesn't want you writing him about it (or anything alse)

Any letters are tossed into the fire of his london mansion and keep his Liverpool 8 and american friends through winter.

    George Martin = Legend

  • @CalamityCameron

Ringo doesn't really burn all his fan mail, does he? That's terrible, i'll have to write to him about that.

  • @norristerse Firelighters - send him a gold plated lighter too!

  • @CalamityCameron ha ha!

  • WAIT... SOMETHINGS WRONG THIS IS JUST COUNTING MY VISITS

  • Is this Ringo or Andy White on drums?

  • @SuperGogetem This is Ringo! Andy White played only on "Love Me Do" (Please Please Me version) and "P.S. I Love You". Ringo played tambourine.

  • @TeamMastaPr2 I should have known that as Ringo played on "Please Please Me" and this is its B-side. They were probably recorded on the same day.

  • yum

  • O tempo bom ele não acaba o que acaba são as tristezas depois de ouvir essas musicas dos Beatles são Genios

  • Cool song

  • Music theory is for regular people who are trying to understand how and why people like The Beatles sound so good.

Musical geniuses don't need it. They just fiddle around with their instruments and come up with something that sounds nice.

A guy like Mozart was no different. The only reason Mozart ever needed to learn how to read music was because they didn't have tape recorders back in those days. Like any genius he'd have much rather done it all by ear.

  • My mah saw these boys at a place called the co-op hall in Uneaton in 1962 near the release of 'love me do'

These boys then had to take a recording live (chords/vocals pitch and all) in sraight to disc. No dubs or drop ins or unIalented feckers allowed. Ringo was missing for first few tracks.

Tory is scum. Beatles were talented under mostly Labour. Although Ringo is a Cameron and Thatcherite drunk love and peace fan.

    Beatles are class.

  • by far my favorite. oh wait ive said that to almost every beatle song ive heard. but damn this one is my favorite for realzies

  • OK all you guitarists out there: Learn this song - just the chords - and tell me this isn't an incredible piece of music.

  • @Nacho66 I am and it is very hard to learn

  • I love this song

  • WOW.......................

  • So very hard for me to believe that neither Paul nor John had any formal music theory training. How can two people sit down together to compose something as great as this without a knowledge of augmented chords and their function, not to mention secondary dominants which are prevalent throughout this song? I guess genius doesn't need any training!

  • @litenslick1

Wholeheartedly agreed with you....Amazing......I often wonder the same thing. How on earth could they come up with the chord structures like that....how about " IF I FELL" that was something else too and of course many more.

  • @detoxzero01 Yes..."IF I FELL"....there's another one! The very clever chord progressions at the very beginning that have an unstable quality about them because you don't know what is coming next - only to then modulate so beautifully and unexpectedly into the first verse! Ahhhhh THEY ARE THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA IN MY BOOK!!!!! :)

  • My mothers anus smells and I love this song

  • gods never die!, mozar bethoven didnt died they still nowadays so beatles 2 in 999999999999999999 years more =)

  • I can never thank my family enough for raising me with The Beatles

  • God bless Liverpool...

  • lol funny joke

  • Is there supposed to be some hidden form of "bigger than Jesus" reference in there? If not, or even if so, there was absolutely nothing funny about it.

  • @msuder0583 XD you're kind of retarded it's a little funny

  • es la unica cancion k recuerdo alemania alla poe 1989 en ,magdeburg

  • still have the record to this at me grandma's house , also revolver , and abbey road , let it be etc. The Beatles have made the best music i have ever listened to

  • @MrHQfighter10 My brother HATES The Beatles. He thinks they're a bunch of 4 gays with gay music. What I tell him is "If The Beatles didn't exist, your music wouldn't exist."

  • i clicked on this song by chance and liked it :) (it is the beatles after all)

  • canción escrita en 1962 por Lennon e incluida en el álbum como el numero 6

  • This may sound crazy, but if ANYONE ever asked me what stands out from the 20th century. My response without even thinking...,THE BEATLES,

  • @Broadway789 Great comment. I have thought the same through the years.

The 20th century had many technical contributions from a variety of great minds. But musically speaking, The Beatles tower above all else.

  • @myrtlebox

Thanks for the kind words. My sister was 14 when she saw them at Shea. I still have the stub. Since she passed away in 1980, I have treasured that stub. She passed away 4 months before John.

  • @Broadway789 PEACE

  • @michael777776 There's a hidden message in 163 Beatle songs. It says that michael777776 is a dickhead.

  • @endicott3 *insert LOL meme*

  • @endicott3 what a beautiful message

  • 8 people weren't asked why

  • Perfect

  • Excelente Perfec

  • A beautiful song and an exemplary perfomance.

If these qualities don't comprise a "classic." then I must be daft.

  • John singing?

  • @WazziBerry yes

  • "And in time you'll understand the reason why, if I cry, it's not because I'm sad, but you're the only love that I've ever had!"

  • john lennon should be jamming with kurt cobain right now like paul and dave grohl did.

  • 8 people dont like this, and that's perfectly fine, because I do.

  • This really makes me happy

  • early beatles is so cute and perfect :) i love it

  • i want to ask why i wasn't born in the 60's?

  • @annamel91 Check out "Born Too Late" by the Poni-Tails

  • @annamel91 Being born in the 60s would be no different to beeing born in the 90s. You would have had to been born in about 1950 to have been there.

  • ask me why 8 people disliked this ?

  • This very early Lennon composition was demoed by the band at their first Parlophone audition on 6 June '62; this recording was made in 6 takes during the 26 Nov sessions for Please Please Me. The song is played too fast it seems to me, but Lennon nevertheless sings a fine lead vocal. Note the guitar burp at 1:26 that the production team failed to erase.

  • "Ask me why-y-y-y-y? There are 8 dislikes?" Cuase they're blind-i-i-i-ind. And they never are rights.

  • 8 people arent told what they want to know

  • WHY 8 dislikes ?

  • this is probly the worst song on 'Please Please Me'. Its still okay though

  • ask me why i love the beatles and i'll give you a thousand reason why..

  • Back then they were very influenced by American girl groups like the Shirelles. But listen to Ringo!

  • 8 people don't know why......

  • i wish i had been in london in 1961+ . i was 11 yrs. old then. my parents were talking about it ,but it never happend. i saw the beatles that first night on ed sullivan in 1964 and became a fan of the entire british invasion right away.

  • Dumb song. One of The Beatles' worst.

  • @CatapultYourMom Just because its not "I wanna hold your hand" doesnt mean its their worst. Personally I listen to their non greatest hits more often.

  • Ok, if u post a Beatles song on utube no matter what u will get a couple humdred thousand views at least

  • Great song of a great album!..The Beatles forever!

  • it sounds like lennon is crying when he sings my happiness it makes me cry

  • I love all the Beatles material, but their earlier stuff was so lighthearted and easy to listen to, so I prefer the earlier stuff! :)

  • I love The Beatles as you can see by my username. I agree with @CastfireTheAwesome I'd love to live in the '60s. I'd give up anything to live in the '60s. :) I'm in love with them! :D

  • why i wasnt born in the 1900

  • @paco121 You would be a 60-70 year old man by then. lol

  • The Beatles themselves were like other men, but the music and lyrics channeled through them contained magic and messages from beyond the mind. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read the section about The Beatles. Show this to every Beatles fan you know.

  • @vividDC I hate to play the age card, but I think you have to be old enough to remember hearing those records when they first came out. It's great listening now but when it was happening live, it was a feeling that can't be described. Hearing Hey Jude on the radio the day it came out was like a religeous experience. They were pied pipers and we were in love with them. They were supernatural alien beings bestowed upon us as a gift from some other place. They were really something.

  • @misterdirtyknees I see what you are saying. Actually, the author of the reading I suggested to you grew up through his teenage years while the Beatles were performing and releasing music. I think you would really find what he says interesting. Go to TruthContest(dot)com, open The Present, and read the section about The Beatles.

  • My favorite song from my personal favorite 'Beatles' album....It transports you back to '63 with every listen....

  • God, I love them. No band will ever quite compare to The Beatles.

  • @livefreeeely

    Absolute AVATAR and vanguard!!

They're in a class all by themselves.

Their music has proven...it WILL last forever.

  • @livefreeeely there was a time when damn near every person on the planet liked at least one of their songs

  • @livefreeeely I'm sorry? Did you just say, "The beatles, I love them. No band will ever quite compare to God?

  • @Musicrocks30 Learn to read. You're an idiot

  • @msuder0583 Wow you're an idiot...you don't get the joke

  • @livefreeeely So true!

  • Is it possible to become a 'Beatleholic'?! Because if so, the NHS is gonna have a damn lot of cases on their hands! Anyone on the same music-obsessed boat? :D

  • The Beatles: keeping the world sane since 1957. ;D
