@lkennedy31 He said One of their influences was Depeche Mode,I always thought the same thing too. Not to mention his voice also sounds like Dave Gahan a bit
i also thought this song was by depeche mode and since 1992 tried to find this song (finally did through some random radio station on iTunes)...nice to find it almost 20 years later!
well the rock band that DM turned after Violator make techno pop lovers very empty and dissapointed...the name is not important, its the music what matters. So for me this counts as one of the singles I liked the most on those years ^_^
that one song The Great Commandment by the German band known as Camouflage was another song I thought was Depeche Mode the first few times I heard it.
Those of you that have stated they sound like a cross of New Order and Depeche Mode. Listen carefully to the beat and back beat of this song. It is the same beat and back beat at is in the New Order song: World (the Price of Love). :P It is just slightly slower in this song (in the main body of the song, not in the chorus)
Growing up in the 80's and 90's I have really great memories of awesome music and great friends. Music has always been my escape. And I believe there are some good bands coming out nowaddays but nothing like pre 90's. It is like listening to Elvis, Led Zeppelin,Rush and Black Sabbath (etc). I wasn't around then but it is still really great music to listen to. Great music stands the test of time no matter what your age.
@Jevy383383 I echo the sentiment... but to list rock in a cause & effect video is twisted. It makes sense in a Elvis, Led Zepplin, Rush and black sabbath etc... video. Besides rockers hate synth bands.
@joseitsme Honestly they're kind of a mix between New Order and DM. This song definitely sounds like DM though - it's not far off from Policy of Truth at all.
Cuando escucho por ahi las porquerias de hoy a las que intentan llamar musica, miro al cielo y digo... GRACIAS MI DIOS TODOPODEROSO POR ESA BENDICION DE HABERME HECHO NACER EN LOS SETENTAAAA!!!!! y poder conocer a grupos como ICE HOUSE, INXS, DEPECHE MODE, SIMPLE MIND, PIXIES, JEAN LOVE JESEBEL, THE MISSION, THE CURE, CHARLIE PARKER. OTTIS REDDING, RAY CHARLES, JAMES BROWN, LOUIS ARMSTRONG..... THANKS MY GOD!!!!!
his dancing looks like dave gahan's, but there's no rhyme or reason to it. it looks more like he's throwing himself back and forth to try and look like gahan, not like he's actually dancing to the music
I have loved this song since it came out, but this is the first time I have seen the video. The singer obviously is imitating Gahan. Trying to sound like DM as well, but most definitely not DM. DM is on a whole nother level.
"Another Minute" is quite a damn good album however. One of my fave non-DM albums of all time. Not every song is great, but all are good and some are excellent.
It s a Depeche Mode emulator band, but is a great band like Camouflage, Red Flag, De/Vision, Cetu javu, Celebrate the Nun, dr. Strangelove....and the amazings Depeche Mode too.-
MAN!!! if a man would kiss me like this guy did to that lucky girl! OH MAN! I love this guys, I love their music and videos.
he first time I heard this song I could not tell the difference betwen Depeche Mode and this guys! And this Band is as good a DM. They are back singing and in concerts!!! check their web page!
Lead singer is Rob Rowe and he's not dead. Sean Rowley is the other half, the guy who wrote all the music. He died before the concert in chicago. However it was not a suicide , it was a heart attack due to complications from his severe asthma. Pity, the guy had great musical talent.
Thanks for adding this classic video I have not heard this video for years.
They were scheduled to perform in Chicago in the 90's I was looking foward to the concert then I got the bad news that the concert was canceled because of the death of the lead singer.
I think that Cause and effect was just as good as Depeche Mode.
I can tell you EVERYBODY thought this was Depeche Mode back then..I remember on tha radio ppl would call in requesting tha new DM single and even I was convinced it was them until they finally said their name..I bought tha"Another Minute" cd bout 6 years ago and its a good album tragic bout tha keyboard player also
@thuggin83 Its funny I remember a lot of Depeche fans back in the early 90s had wished Songs Of Faith & Devotion had sounded more like this song! .. Ha..
@thuggin83 I was one of the bozo's scouring Tower Records and The Music Warehouse trying like mad to find the new Depeche Mode Albumn or Single that I thought had been released after hearing this a few times on the radio. Back then the internet wasn't nearly as advanced as it is now so I had no way of researching it before driving all round trying to find that which did not exist. Great flashback hahaha.
Cause & Effect were a good sound for the radio and for the time as New Wave was dying..on the other hand Depeche Mode was a darker band with no love from the US radio stations..Depeche Mode earned their ranks because of the millions of fans around the world that put them in demand...I like Cause & Effect because they were from my hometown of Houston and New Wave sound was everywhere and there was no judgment on bands..it was all about music..
I dont know why the radio would say Houstons own Cause & Effect..maybe they were from Houston and moved there..in the 80's there was really no music business here in Houston..hmmmmm
I don't think even the band ever denied they were deliberately copying Depeche Mode's style. Better than just doing a cover version, I guess. They sound more like Mode than Mode did at the time the single came out. :)
Total Depeche Mode influence....I love it!!!
