@nyleveia I can not thank you enough for your help :] ,my Son's DS shit the bed today,im a mechanic by trade and pretty handy with just about anything,computers and electronics about the only exception,checked the voltage of the battery and charger seemed ok,i made a tri screw driver out of a phillips,found some minor corrosion inside,cleaned it,knowledge of such things exhausted i found this...single strand of ear phone wire and half an hour later...THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP MATE :]

Going to try this. Had a broken DS lite that I replaced the top screen and the case in order to repair and used as a back up. Tried to add a few small LEDs, which I have done before and after turning the unit on once, it worked. Turned it off then back on again and nothing. I plug in the charger cable and the orange light turns off but then goes out, and the system won't turn on at all.

I have a DS Lite that after was placed under a faucet of running water it stopped working. I plug it in and the charge lite stays, appears to work fine. but when I power on, plugged in or not, the green light briefly lights and goes out with a flicker from the bottom screen. Is this still the fuse or did the water do much worse.

Also, IF I used the easy method, is there a fire risk when I charge it? Thank you.

@Wlabatt Unfortunately 95% of single screen flickers are down to screen or lcd connector ribbon issues, in this case probably a shorted connection in the upper screen, to fix this will you need to purchase a new upper screen (it comes with the required cables to connect from the top of the ds to the mainboard), this will fix the problem.

@jayne1210 The issue is the ribbon cable for the top screen - chances are high that the ribbon for the top screen is damaged, resulting in what you're experiencing, unfortunately that ribbon is connected to the top LCD on DSi's so you will require a whole new top screen to repair it.

@nyleveia Hi i have replaced the top screen on it still didn't work that is why i changed the fuses i have got two units doing the same thing and changed screen on this one as well then changed fuses. so you think i need to take them apart and look at the ribbon cables again.

I bought a charger from eBay to charge my DS and after 20mins of charging I took it out to play, Sometime later while i was playing it shut off. Connecting it to a charger makes an orange light come up and then off. could it be the fuse? I have another DS kite that doesn't work for parts so any advice by I start?

This may sound vague, but I do not know how to remove the fuses. How do you get them out? I tried heating up the ends of one with my soldering iron, but it still wouldn't budge when I tried to ease it out with a pair of tweezers.

My DS Lite turns itself on and off whenever it wants to however both screens work completely fine and no other problems occur.... is this also fuse related? =S

Calm down. The fuse blows so ur screen will blink and then turn off again. Send it overseas to the Nintendo Company. Physical damage u have to pay depending on ur state tax. It'll be fixed and back in over a month. P.S ny's pay $64.80 with state tax.

@sins4givenmain it looks like one or both of the fuses died you can find the fuses and the ysrewdriver on ebay i did it for my brothers ds buy a soldering station and wtf try it your self it doesnt work already

i fixed it... it was the screen cable that was not clipped in correctly. when i replaced the MIC i didn't connect the screen cable deep enough. so your problem is one of two: 1. you check to see if the screen cable is connected correctly or 2. the screen cable is damaged and has to be replaced. they sell them on ebay for less than $5 with shipping included. Im almost 100% sure that these would solve your problem.

OK this guide is VERY useful ! I didn't fit the insulating tape to the underside of the new bottom screen during my repair, metal touched metal when the unit closed and blew these fuses, although for ages i thought the ribbon cables weren't connected properly. I just soldered a blob over the entire fuse (without picking them out) and it now works and charges fine. As the guide says, if your NDS NDSL wont turn on and flashes once when you put the charger in, this is the repair you need to do.

For all who are confused i just revive mine usign this video.

You need:

.A soldering iron (Mine is a 30W from Radio Shack)

.Solder

Just locate F1 and F2 fuses and usign the iron just heat the lower or upper part making a force to it so can get off. Now take the solder and try to bridge both parts of the connector. You may want to start with F2 since is harder since theres other fuses around. After you do F2 just put the baterry and check if goes green if not then do F1 too and viola!

yea my ds got dropped on the toilet and it does the things that are causes for it to fix the fuse. will this still work since it has water damage. (happened about a year ago but i still have the faulty ds)

there is a good chance it will not, if the ds received water damage, and was turned on when it fell in to the toilet, then it is more than likely going to be more than just fuses broken however if you use the fuse bypass method as apposed to replacing the fuses with new ones, you can find out for free if it will fix it.

I wouldn't be too hopeful however, as i said the water may have damaged something else, or caused rust on the component pins.

This is a problem with the screen flex cable that provides power and video data to the top screen via the hinge, when this is damaged neither screen will work and produces the problem you are describing, this is true for both ds lite and the original ds, you should be able to purchase a replacement via ebay for a few dollars, just search for ds lite screen cable, i would advise that before doing this you research into dismantling the ds lite, as well as check the existing cable incase it's loose
