The baloon theme ismy favorite of the two. It has such a light, bouncy sound. the choice to use only woodwinds for most of it , along with its constant shifts of time signature, key, and tempo, give it such a unique sound. Not tomention, this has my favorite use of bassoon I've heard. the sea song is gorgeous, and very full-sounding after the lightness of the preceding tune. It washes over you like an ocean wave, and gives a great sense of adventure. It's all very wonderful.

I knew it! As soon as I heard the boat music in Dragon Quest IX, I knew it was from this game! It's not the only reused track, but it's -so- worth it to hear it updated and re-rearranged.

Lol, when that Bassoonist hit that low note on 0:57, he looked like he hit the wrong note and looked at Koichi Sugiyama for Forgiveness. Either that, or it just sounded too much like a fart :P

Sorry to spoil the illusion...but the orchestra were miming to a playback. I know because i was at the recording session and was the playback engineer for the TV recording.

@kukunane Haha, no, bassoonists are used to playing and hearing low notes like that, so he wouldn't have thought of that, and it is the correct note. Most likely he was looking to judge the tempo coming up so he'd be on time with the clarinet player.
